A word from Cafe 501 - Classen Curve
Cafe 501, a long-time favorite of Edmond epicureans, brings its colorful, European-inspired cuisine to the Classen Curve. From its humble beginnings as a "little lunch spot" in the heart of historic Edmond, 501 has poised itself as one of central Oklahoma’s most loved eateries. A second location, at 5825 NW Grand Blvd., features the original’s eclectic "French-Californian" approach to dining with a harmonious balance between a hand-crafted menu and a sophisticated yet casual atmosphere that is true to Oklahoma.

Cafe 501 has become synonymous with a discriminating taste in good wine and great foods. From rustic stone oven pizzas, to fresh, uniquely designed salads and delicious specialty sandwiches on house-made artisan breads, Cafe 501 offers tastes delectable enough for even the most discerning diners. When evening arrives, Cafe 501 changes from a buzzing lunch spot to a romantic bistro with soft lighting, an attentive full-service staff, and an expanded dinner menu.

Cafe 501 was to have been a nice place to eat, relax and have a conversation with a job candidate. Before dinner drinks were fine and the food was good, but it was very loud. The restaurant was not crowded, but two tables of patrons were boisterous and their steady noise was amplified by the hard surfaces in the open, high-ceiling space. It was difficult and stressful to have a conversation without being distracted by others.

It was Sunday Brunch so I expected there to be some bustle. We had a reservation and were seated immediately. There was a short line of customers. My granddaughter was given a tub of crayons and a beautiful picture to color. Our young waitress was pleasant. At this point the process slowed way down. We finally ordered mimosas, they finally came, we finally ordered our meals, thenthe wait was long. When our migas and polenta with pulled pork arrived, I noted that my food looked like it had sat for sometime before being served. The thing is the food is so dang good that it was still delicious. I told the waitress we had to be someplace but wanted to order dessert and get the check. She seemed to perk up and got with it at that point.

The food was indeed really good. But the overall experience could have been better. We will probably try it again just to see if it was an off night or something. We had made reservations ahead of time and specifically asked for a quiet table. They put us close to the bar and next to a huge baby shower. Really? There were many open spots in rest of the place that they could have put us. Waitress started out good, but something happened to our order and after about 20 mins we still didn't have our appetizer. It consisted of fruit and cheese which was great. The manager actually came out apologizing that something had happened to our order. We appreciated her kindness and making that personal effort. Very pleased with her. The food was good.

My husband and I had dinner at Cafe 501 Saturday evening. We booked our reservation on open table and were seating at a great table upon arrival. Our waitress was awesome! Party of six and not one person finished their meal. The fennel flavor in the Ahi Tuna was awful. The Pear Salad was too wilted to enjoy. It was like wet paper. The Crab Enchiladas were good but the rice on that plate and two other meals had no flavor. Even my nephew, who loves pizza... Did not like or finish even 1/2 of the pepperoni one. White wine sangria was almost all fruit juice. Salmon was very good, but a little overcooked. Service was slllllooowwww! Drinks came out one at a time, and so did everyone's meals. However, The staff was very friendly and the patio atmosphere is wonderful. First time here for all but one in our party. We will try again to see if this was just an "off night" for this establishment.

Rigattoni was too spicy. It was not described on the menu as spicy. I ate just thee bites and pushed the dish away. The waiter asked if I did not like the food - told him so spicy I could not eat it. He said "Yes, our sauce has quite a kick to it". My husband had the spare ribs and said it was tasty but there wasn't much meat in the dish. Not sure we would recommended this restaurant for dinner. We will probably go back for lunch at some point. There were only a few tables occupied at 7:00 so this was not a good sign.

My husband and I were at Cafe 501 for Valentines Day and thoroughly enjoyed it. I felt it would be the perfect lunch place to take two girlfriends as a thank you for their kindness during my recent recuperation from surgery. The service was not as good as I would have wanted. We had allotted two hours and waited for longer than I would have expected both to place our order and to get our food. The food was great which helped lessen my disappointment with the service. There were further delays in getting carry-out containers and the check. In spite of the delays, my friends were very pleased with my choice for our luncheon and said they would be returning.

I've been to Café 501 before. This is an opportunity to provide the restaurant "outstanding" rating. In particular, the waiter, he was professional without the "stuffiness/snobbish" of some waiters at other upper tier restaurants. The categories of Food, Ambience, and Noise Level were very good but the Service, for me, push the overall rating to outstanding. Will I return to Café 501? Absolutely. My family and I plan on returning soon.

We were seated at the right time however we were seated at a table that did not accommodate the number in our party. The service was awful. We waited nearly an hour for our food while others were served. Wait people never noticed. We complained numerous times. A young manager made excuses for the poor service and finally the owner/manager took over entirely too late. She did take care of most of the bill, wine, and desserts and we got gift certificates but Mothers Day dinner was not enjoyable. We shouldn't have had to work that hard for service and our food. When offered free desserts the waitperson never checked to see if they had a full menu. So he came back to say they ran out of two of our orders. A complete mess. Will not go back
