The Potato Chip Nachos with pulled-pork was our "starter" - very tasty with a generous portion of japalenos - probably the highlight of this visit. The chicken and biscuits with gravy and grits was also a good choice. The breakfast sandwich on a croissant was a little short on flavor and the Baja Fish Tacos was a little "fishier" than I prefer, but the fresh fruit was delicious. Service was great - plenty of attention to keeping the water and tea refreshed.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMOpen Table/Cafe 4 ReservationWe appreciated the effort by the Café 4 staff to provide timely service after a reservation misunderstanding. I was excited to see Open Table and Cafe 4 allowed for special requests because I needed patio seating for my little dog and followed up with Café 4 to ensure reservations were acceptable for my pet. Apparently, this was not noted during seating times because we arrived on time, but patio seating was not available requiring a wait for an open outside table for approximately 30 minutes. Our two teen sons were able to find some good choices. Fish Tacos bland, Crabcakes good, not great. Fried green tomatoes very good. Outstanding Salmon salad. Didn't hit the baked goods, but they did look tempting. The salads had freshest produce and presentation attractive. Mac and lobster was as always, mouth watering and the wine a great accent. My dining partner is a meat and potatoes kind of guy and first time diner at Cafe 4. Needless to say man c cheese was the ticket for him. Everything I have ever gotten at Cafe 4 is absolutely delicious, and I recommend Cafe 4 to anyone in Knoxville. The restaurant is slightly upscale, but still quite affordable. This architecture style with exposed black ducts and tall open ceilings has very poor acoustics. Bella Luna across Market Sqaure is the same way. Cafe4 has never disappointed me. Using Open Table to reserve the table for us on Easter Sunday was a breeze. I recommend Cafe4 and Open Table. I've never had a bad meal and for the locals - the burger is as good as Litton's and the best in downtown! Shrimp & grits has the right amount of spice and the texture is sublime. Service was friendly, prompt and attentive, if a little forgetful, and a little rushed. Some good wines by the glass at moderate prices.
