Cadiz Restaurant & Lounge offers a Seaside Cuisine influenced by flavors from the seaside villages of Italy and Spain. Cadiz offers pizzas, pastas, seafood, entrees, and a variety of "small plates." The menu is seasonally driven, and all produce is bought from the local Farmer's Market right outside our front door. Our wonderful selection of seafood dishes come from local, harbor fresh seafood, purchased daily. Our mixology bar offers seasonal, market-fresh cocktails, and on weekend nights Cadiz transforms into an upscale European style lounge/nightclub at 10:30 until 2am. Continued

  • "The food and atmosphere are perfect, but our waiter could have been more professional. I really don't like being called "miss" all night. I am a grandmother, not a little girl. I love the unusual cocktails offered there. Looking forward to my next time at Cadiz!"

  • "Our Cadiz dining experience was amazing. We are frequent diners there, and always are very happy with the service and the food. During the week I crave their gnocchi and can't wait to go back to order it again. Chef Alex does something wonderful with oxtail and gnocchi, and I am a very tough critic when it comes to any kind of Italian dish. He hits a home run! They have a new on tap Italian beer, Milano, that my husband really loved. Try to leave room for Chef Alex's creative, comforting, and magnificent desserts. Friendly, delicious, attentive, nice ambiance-- every time."

  • "On the website the pictures looked great, but upon entering Cadiz it seemed smaller and divided up. They gave my wife and me a small table in the inside front section. The online menu showed grilled octopus, which we love, but it wasn't on their restaurant menu. The waiter said, "That's gone." Disappointing. I ordered the dungeness crab salad and the gnocchi with oxtail. The crab salad was good but quite small and the gnocchi was kind of gummy but tasted good. My wife wanted the ridgeback shrimp, but they didn't have any. Another disappointment. She ordered the flatbread, which was tasty and plenty to eat, and the the fried calamari, which was crispy and nicely seasoned. Overall, a fair experience. $13.50 for a martini--kind of steep."

  • "The food was decent but this restaurant seems to be in the wrong part of town. The area seems to be very popular with college kids and people looking to go bar hopping. Cadiz has an upscale ambiance that doesn't fit with the clientele in the area. The restaurant was extremely quiet the night we were there and lacked ambiance. We've eaten at several other restaurants in Santa Barbara and we would rather return to those than come here again. Overall, it was fine, but not memorable."

  • "We had reservations and were seated inside. We desired outside and the hostess reseated us after a table opened in a few minutes. The outside seating is right on State Street at the front of the restaurant. It's a delightful area, and on a Tuesday night we observed the ending minutes of the Farmers Market. No auto traffic. Unfortunately, within a few minutes the other tables filled with four groups of young to younger-middle-aged women, who chattered away increasing the noise level to a point that we found impossible to tolerate. As soon as we finished we left. That ruined our expectation of enjoying a quiet dining experience, and cost the restaurant our dessert and coffee business. We probably should have requested a move inside but..."

  • "Unless you crave loud street noise, don't book an outdoor table here on a holiday weekend. Indoors would have been calm with nice ambience. Service was slow even though restaurant wasn't wasn't crowded. some dishes were tasty like the beet & carrot salad and the lamb meatballs, while the hamburger was mama hoo-hoo. We'll try it again but this time inside."

  • "With high ceilings, this soothing white Spanish/Mediterranean feeing space is charming. The menu is interesting and varied so anyone can find plenty of delicious choices. Service is friendly and the cocktail menu is fun. When crowded it can get noisy. Ask for a quiet table if this is an issue for you. We've eaten there numerous times and continue to find it delightful."

  • "I have never had a disappointing meal here! The menu changes are always spot on with the season and Chef Alex always comes out to my table to explain the latest change. I was here during the week this time, they were very busy, and the service stayed consisent with its usual attentive and friendly staff. The hostess is my favorite in town, she always remembers my name. And I must say I love all the striped skirts and white blazers the girls wear, nice touch! "

  • "The service was bad. We had to wait so long for our dinner the waiter brought us some free wine. They were busy (Sat Night) and waiter said there were only two cooks for the entire restaurant. They brought three dinners but we had to wait for the fouth. By the time it arrived our food was cold."

  • "The food was delicious but the 3 children were not happy. They are not picky but the food is not appealing to children. Having some pastas that are basic would be great. ..."

  • "food was great but service was bad and felt like they want you in and out as it's a popular place and for that reason I wouldn't go back."

  • "We really enjoyed Cadiz! Excellent service coupled with excellent food made for a memorable meal. Branzino and halibut cooked to perfection not to mention the duck! A real standout. We will be back!"

  • "We came for dinner on Friday night. The specialty drinks menu was very enticing with something for everyone's tastes. We enjoyed the Andalucian, which though made with rye, tasted like sangria. The bread was delicious and freshly homemade. The food menu was split into small plates and entrees, so you could dine tapas style if desired. We enjoyed the savory grilled baby octopus and the refreshingly tasty crab salad. Then we split the Coulotte steak entree which was piled high with crab and drenched in a mouthwatering bearnaise sauce. The food was amazing! The prices were on the upper end but the quality of the food combined with the ambience and service made it worthwhile. "

  • "We were unaware of this place, and really enjoyed the food. It's portrayed as Italian, but actually is Spanish as well. Our waiter was friendly and very enthusiastic. We wee served uncooked lamb meatballs that needed to be sent back, but otherwise, everything tasted great and we would come back. "

  • "The vibe here is kind of mysterious and romantic, with Mediterranean decor, floor to ceiling gauzy white curtains to separate the spaces, lots of candle light, and chill music. The food is superb, with great flavor combinations and extremely fresh ingredients. We had the beet and carrot salad, the scallops, and the branzino. All were spectacular! I also had the Andalucian cocktail, which was perfect (more sour than sweet). Given the high quality of everything--the space, the food, and the service--I was shocked that the place wasn't jammed (even for a Thursday night). We were just visiting from San Francisco, but we would certainly be regulars if we lived in Santa Barbara. We will definitely be back!"

  • "This would be the 2nd time we've been here, and we enjoyed it just as much as the first time. I don't know Santa Barabara a whole lot, but this would be a great restaurant I would recommend to anyone. The food was great! There were a variety of tapas available as well, so I can see myself coming here after work for some drinks and tapas. The service was great. Very attentive, and made sure we had everything we need. We were there on a week night, so there weren't too many people there, but I'd imagine it gets busy on the weekend considering it's on one of the busiest streets of Santa Barabara."

  • "I crave Chef Alex's food all week long! I love that I am on a first name basis with the staff now. The hostess is adorable and always remember what we last talked about. The food quality is the most consistent in town. I am never disappointed whichever day of the week I am here. M/y latest obsession is the Italian Chardonnay, Tormaresca paired with the new Halibut. I am looking forward to trying to some new things next time!"

  • "We were there on a quiet Sunday evening for a birthday celebration. The service was lackluster. Most restaurants will bring a free dessert for those with a birthday, nothing was brought or offered. The menu is diverse and different, and the restaurant feels cozy. We all left full of good food, but with the feeling we really weren't wanted. I think we just hit a poor night."

  • "If allowed, I would give Cadiz a "10". Food and service were both excellent. The ambiance is so nice, including the background music. We dined between 6 and 7 PM on Saturday night. My husband and I will definitely be returning here."

  • "My husband and I had such a great dinner at Cadiz last month that we returned again this month, along with another couple. We were not disappointed. Everything was just as wonderful. The service was prompt and professional, and the dishes were delicious. The lamb meatballs, the scallops and the duck were all standouts. And the lemon tart for dessert was scrumptious. My husband requested that we sit on the front patio, but next time I think we'll dine inside so that we can enjoy the rich Moorish decor and architecture."

  • "This has been a favorite of mine since they opened. The menu only gets better and better. Ever since they have steered more in Italian Seaside end of the cuisine I have found myself going more and more. The fact that they have complimentary valet now is what makes mine and my boyfriends decision so easy. We pull right up to the back door and just a few short steps later feel like we stepped into the South of Italy. Kudos to Chef Alex and all that he has accomplished with the menu!"

  • "My Negroni cocktail was expertly made and the bartender brought over the 'extra'! Grilled baby octopus on lentils small plate was perfectly cooked and big enough for an entree. The rich mushroom risotto and ridge back shrimp dishes were tender and wonderful. The diver scallop small plate was magic - perfectly cooked scallop, bitter mustard green wisps, prosciutto pieces and a broth to bring it together.Ask for a spoon to enjoy each bite. When we return to town, we will return to Cadiz for another enjoyable meal. The prices were less than I would expect to pay which is unusual these days. Service was friendly and helpful. The space is beautiful and evocative of Spain. Great food for foodies and great bar drinks too. A grown up place!"

  • "The food at Cadiz was certainly interesting. We received 2 menus - drinks on one, the other with small bites on one side & entrees on the other. The small bites were small - need 2 for a dinner. Entrees were generous. The steak meal was huge. I had the mushroom risotto which was generous and very mushroomy. The atmosphere was light & airy and we were able to carry on a conversation without shouting. Service was a little on the slow side considering the restaurant was not full. May have been because it was Sunday evening? The plates I saw served to other tables looked very interesting. We went away full and satisfied."

  • "We had only two nights in Santa Barbara. I booked this restaurant without knowing anything except what I found on Open Table. We loved this restaurant so much on our first night (we had drinks, small plates, and dessert) that we went back our second night in town to try to the entrees. Every bite of food was fantastic. The waiter stopped himself from joking about how clean we left our plates (I do hate when waiters raise their eyes because you finished every bit), but we enjoyed it and didn't want to leave anything behind. Between the two nights, we had the octopus, lamb meatballs, beef skewers, carrot/beet salad, crab salad, Sicilian chicken, risotto con funghi, vanilla cake, lemon tart, and chocolate peanut butter crunch. All great!"

  • "I had a really nice time with my 86 year old mom. But I certainly can see myself with a group of friends, a date or a birthday party. The menu is not extensive but what we had was really yummy. The skewers, the bruschetta (done much differently) and my mom really enjoyed the oysters."

  • "The minute you walk in it's like being in southern Spain. This was the second time dining at Cadiz and it was even better than the first. Well prepared dishes, excellent and attentive service, ambiance and at fairly moderate prices. Highly recommended."

  • "We went Valentine's Day so there is always some stress. We were 45 min late for our table due to traffic but our reservation was still good and they were nice about it. If you are worried about too many calories or overeating you can put those concerns aside. If you eat slowly and enjoy the food you will fill-up on ample portions, but not over the top portions. We ate and participated in their set menu for the occasion. We saw almost all dishes come out of the kitchen and the tight seating (for Valentine's Day) allowed us to converse easily with other couples on couple's night. The "to die for" were oxtail gnochi, the pork dish, the two beef dish, and the desert winner was the chocolate selection. I met the owner Messina--delightful"

  • "I stopped in Cadiz for a very early dinner during the Santa Barbara Film Festival week. I was greeted by a friendly server and very well cared for by the bar staff. The restaurant felt very clean and the atmosphere was light. Recommendations from the bar in both the food and beverages were excellent. I had the most delicious scallops with proscuitto that were special to the menu that night. I can't wait for my next trip to SB to see what else Cadiz has in store."

  • "We arrived for our reservation just as 40 people arrived for a group dinner during the film festival. We were worried that we wouldn't be served for eons, but the owner assured us that our food would be served promptly, and it was. We loved the varieties of marinated olives, the scallops were perfectly prepared, the carrot and beet salad was wonderfully spiced and the lamb meatballs were rich and tasty, but our favorite was the pasta bolognese with fresh housemade pasta. The bolognese sauce was scrumptious. We ended with lemon tart. Yum yum. We also loved the setting. The restaurant is lovely."
