  • "I had never been to The Ranch, and went and the recommendation of my date. My date ordered the chopped chicken salad and I ordered the Flat Iron steak with the roasted potatoes. Her salad was huge and she stated she liked it very much. My steak was outstanding. Cooked to a lovely medium and tasted so good and was so tender. The potatoes had a great flavor though a few were a little under done. Had the whiskey cake for dessert and it was very good. A unique dessert that I enjoyed and would have again. The person filling the water and taking plates away was outstanding, the service was just a touch slow in that we had a wait a bit whenever we needed them before they showed back up."

  • "When we walked in, we were surprised how a rustic looking building could have such a classy ambiance. The staff were attentive and the menu varied. Our friends, being wine enthusiasts, were overwhelmed how complete the wine selection was. One of our party was very impressed the garlic stuff fillet. Two of us had the meatloaf. Imyself had the chicken fried steak, my measure of how good a Texas restaurant (It passed with flying colors . We were all very impressed with our meals. Normally I wouldn't eat a meatloaf unless I was stuck at a roadside diner. Ended up taking half of my wife's meatloaf. We both would certainly order this again. Try it and be pleased. Don't forget to try the deserts."

  • "This place is good, sometimes very good, but in general, the food falls short of awesome. I find the menu interesting and I like that they try to source from Texas farms but at times, the flavor is not quite there. Delicious standouts are the wedge salad, mini elk tacos, and carnitas stackups. The ribs were cooked perfectly but lacked flavor and the TX whiskey BBQ sauce was nothing special. Smoked fried chicken is interesting but I found it overwhelming - I would prefer one or the other but not both. Grilled chipotle meatloaf with herbed whipped potatoes is tasty but too salty - and I love salt. We'll go back - it's so close to home. But for a true foodie experience, I think we'll still have to head to Dallas."

  • "We had a pleasant experience this time at The Ranch as we usually do. We tend to go to The Ranch for special occasions. Unfortunately, this time, the Prime Rib we purchased... 3 of them... were all very riddled with strings of gristle. They were hard to cut and chew. My wife could only get through 1/3 of hers before giving up :-( The flavor of the Prime Rib was great. Another in our party had the Filet and she enjoyed it very much. Overall, we like The Ranch and will most likely return, however the Prime Rib will most likely not be our food of choice there."

  • "Had a great dinner at the Ranch. Big restaurant, so we were able to get a res for 8 a day in advance. Food was very good. Filet was tasty and the sides were exquisite. Try the marble potato salad or the grits. Fried oysters and crab dip were worthy appetizers. Sat night wine 1/2 price was an amazingly pleasant surprise. Give this place a look."

I was nervous about my choice for this restaurant because I didn't want a loud, rowdy, tacky, cookie cutter style restaurant and was concerned that was exactly what it might be. We were very surprised by how inmate the booth seating, ambiance and over all experience was. The food was very good! The service was great."

  • "I am very appreciate of The Ranch. I like its dishes and its beers. I approve of its policy regarding local produce and whatnot. (I suppose some of the produce comes form the vegetable garden in front of the entrance.) The only problem I can name with regard to it is the noise level. It is loud enough at lunch. I thought an evening meal might be better in this respect, but it was far, far, worse. True, it was a Friday. —No doubt many revelers are happy enough with the noise level, but we were dining with a candidate for a job, and we needed to be able to hear her. Well, things worked out all right anyway (the candidate was able to project), but I will think twice about choosing The Ranch again for this purpose."

  • "Table was great. Server was nice. Salad was good- a little heavy on blue cheese dressing. Buffalo burger was terrible - the bun was flavorless and so dry I took it off. Meat was 'done' until dry not 'medium' like I'd requested. Buffalo tasted good but burger was just the worst I've had in Dallas. Prime rib that a coworker had was good. Fries were good. Really enjoyed the onion ring appetizer. Music was enjoyable. Dessert, the Toffee Cake, was very good. Overall it was a good night but I dont think even the dishboy/girl would have eaten my burger if it were free. Hope the kitchen tries their food once in a while to make sure its edible."

  • "The place is loud and full of energy, but there is also seating a little away from the two bar areas that you can have some conversation. The food was very good, drinks were awesome, service was great. Would definitely come back. This is a more laid back place and everyone seemed to be having a good time."

  • "Had dinner for 4 at this restaurant on a Saturday nite We were there early for dinner and they were not too crowded but they did fill up later. The waiter at our table was knowledgeable on the menu, courteous and seemed to keep just the right pace with our meal and the wine/desserts. The only thing I would mention as a negative was our table location. We sat near the door that leads to the patio, and every time the door opened, a waft of cigarette odor drifted in and surrounded us. Not too terrible, but for non-smokers it was probably a bit annoying at the least. Overall, this is a very well-kept, snappy "Texas" themed steakhouse, with lots of extra surprises from across the region. Definitely recommend to out-of-towners and locals alike."

  • "Good food, but a bit pricey for the quality. We might as well not have had a reservation. After watching tables gets sat whom had reservations 10, 15, 20 and 30 minutes after ours, we were told by the hostess "You guys are REALLY lucky. I was able to find you a table." Seinfeld episode anyone? Waiter also pushed a bottle of wine in their top three most expensive. I would hope a bottle nearing $200 would be great, and I would hope he could've offered a nice and more moderately priced bottle at the same time. One of our diners also had to re-order as the prime rib sold out before 7pm. A bit early in the evening for that wouldn't you think?"

  • "Went there on a Wednesday evening. Luckily I read some reviews that said to make a reservation. The parking in the area is nowhere near large enough for all the businesses in the area, so we had a long walk to the restaurant. It was very crowded and very loud which made it hard to carry on a conversation. The ambiance was nice and the servers were pleasant. The food was above average but the portions were very large and the prices reflected it. I would rather see some smaller portions with smaller prices. Steak options were fairly limited. Unless you split an entree, expect to pay $75 for dinner for two."

The ribs were fatty and lukewarm, the chicken was nice and hot but had an unusual taste, the mac and cheese was not creamy, and the corn bread was very oily. Our initial server was more anxious to take care of other patrons but, another server approached us and we loved her. She was very friendly and professional. This was my second visit to this restaurant and my last."

  • "This was our first time to try this restaurant and we really enjoyed it! Jacob was our server. He explained how all ingredients were fresh and from Texas. We started off with the Texas crab dip. It was very tasty and portion was bigger than expected. The flat bread that came with it was nice and warm. We only ate half because we didn't want to run our meal. My husband orderdd the garlic stuffed steak and it was cooked perfectly. I ordered the catfish and it was huge.... Three strips with french fries. I could only eat one and let hubby eat the other two. When we didn't think we could eat anything else, we ordered a red velvet cake with chocolate covered strawberries. Jacob was very attentive and provided great service!"

  • "Was staying at a nearby hotel for business and had heard about The Ranch so decided to try it. The place was busy with country music playing and uber friendly staff. The crab dip was highly recommended and I had it and it was good. Had the prime rib and it was delicious and so was the grits side dish. Fun way to experience the suburbs of Dallas without actually going into the city."

  • "A friend and I were getting together after work on an evening that just happened to be Valentine's Day, and we never once felt out of place or awkward for otherwise interrupting. Service was super, food was terrific. The restaurant was hopping, we were just a twosome having a couple of drinks and nibbles, but never once felt overlooked or not attended to. I always enjoy everything about The Ranch. Tried the Fried Green Tomatoes as an appetizer for the first time and they were terrific. The avocado green goddess dressing for them was fabulous!"

  • "Our company entertains at this establishment frequently, and to date have had no issues. However there seems to be a lack of proficiency with the management of the dining room. Despite having a reservation and showing up early, our party had a wait in the lobby area for 15 minutes while our table was "getting cleared off". This in spite of other tables of our same size available. Maybe our group lacked the credentials to sit in those areas. Who knows I didn't expect a response from unfriendly hostess staff. On a positive note, the bar and table service are top-notch as is the food. All persons in our party were happy with meal in general. This establishment needs some fine tuning at the front of the house."

  • "I have had two meals at the ranch. Both times the service was excellent and the food very good. Flatbread was tasty. Smoked prime rib cooked perfect. Tortilla soup yummy. Also had a burger which was really good. The wait staff was on top of their game... constant refills... food came quick and hot. Restaurant was packed but the staff kept up. I traveled from Seattle to Dallas and overall I would have to say Texas service is even better than Seattle service."

  • "This restaurant is consistently a great place to grab a bite to eat. The only thing it isn't good for is talking to the people you are with at your table. It is impossible to hear the person seated across from you especially if you are seated at a table of 4 or more. So if you want a great place to eat but don't want to talk to your dining date, this is the perfect place!"

We've been several times before and because of the fun food and wine selection, it's always a great dinner folled up by music on the patio. However this evening, our waiter made the experience one that we will think about before returning to eat here. Listen, we all have bad days and I get it, but I think there's a level of service expected when we're spending $200 a couple. His attitude created an uncomfortable situation with the table and put a dampe on a celebratory evening. With that said, the food was fantastic, the wine was great and the music on the patio capped off our night."

  • "From the time we walked in to the time we left everything was amazing. The steaks I totally recommend. I had the garlic stuffed steak yumm!!! Our waiter knew what he was talking about even down to how the Ranch was started. He knew the local beers on tap and was very funny!"
