Diner Reviews
  • "We had the wagyu ribeye for two. It was exceptional."

  • "Food was very good and service was excellent. They use a lot of local ingredients and naturally raised meats. A little loud for conversation and a quiet romantic meal."

  • "This is a fantastic place to take family or business associates from out-of-state if you want to give them a real Texas experience (without being "touristy"). Great upscale Texas ambiance, excellent service, and absolutely outstanding food! Try the grilled chipotle meatloaf! Amazing!"

  • "My husband and I visited this restaurant based on online reviews. It was fabulous! Great ambiance, great selections and fantastic food. We had a great time!"

  • "A truly remarkable experience every time! I love taking out of town guests to The Ranch as it guarantees a WOW factor. Server Patrick helped and supported a slight menu deviation and journey to a special whole food, plant-based extraordinary meal. He even added the order and my name to 'the system' for future reference and ease of ordering."

  • "Met a friend fpr dinner, had great food, an awesome waiter and didnt break the bank!"

  • "Have been here a few times, and each time was the same. The servers each time have been terrific and knowledgeable, the food is good and consistent, and the Texas beers on tap rotate fairly frequently. Try the elk tacos and the chicken fried steak!"

  • "I was pleasantly surprised by the wine selection. It is difficult to find great wines at moderately-priced restaurants but there was a good selection here. The food is mostly locally sourced which is great. The menu had a wide variety of choices with a Texas theme throughout. My companion and I had the same entrée (the baby back ribs) and those were very good, with a side of BBQ sauce that had a pleasant kick to it. Appetizers and salads were very good too. The staff was friendly, talkative, and visited the table with pleasing frequency. The only negative was that the noise level was too high for a dinner experience. There were times I could not hear my companion sitting across from me. Otherwise, the ambience was pleasant."

  • "The Ranch provides a good atmosphere for entertaining clients and coworkers. I do wish that more vegetables were offered with the entrees. The plate contents are shades of brown. It would be nice to offset this with some green vegetables. My dinner guest offered me the broccolini from her plate. It was tough and stringy. The website menu says the herb grilled split farm bird comes with charred tomatoes and oven roasted potatoes. But my order was served with potato hash. When I inquired about this to the waiter, he showed me the restaurant menu lists potato hash. It tasted like peppery potato glop. I won't order that again. I'll stick with a burger. The tea was excellent."

  • "We couldn't have had a nicer time. I visited The Ranch for lunch with a colleague and what a great place to dine. The atmosphere is just perfect. The staff and management team were so attentive to our needs. Oh my goodness and the cornbread is awesome. If you've never tried it, you should cheat a little the next time you visit. It is just the best. The only thing I wish is that they would go back and serve it in the old style directly from the good old iron skillet. It's just a wonderful the way it is served now as a muffin style but there's just something to serving it sliced from an iron skillet. Additionally, it keeps is much warmer. Love it, love it, love it. Great place. You should try it for lunch or dinner!"

  • "Food and service were excellent! We had the chicken fried steak and catfish -- both made me wish I lived in Texas again. Valet parking is a plus as well."

  • "Food ok. We had a group of 6 for a later searing ( 8:45) following an alumni event. We had a warm welcome and were seated promptly. I felt the server sensed an expense account dinner was very aggressive in pushing the extra. Like high end starters and a magnum if wine. We did buy a a few bottles. He offered to decant the first. Problem was, it really was not a decanter. But a device that made it easy to pour it. Frankly... The service was insulting."

  • "We were visiting Irving for a Musical and stopped by for an early dinner. I use to work in the Urban Towers so I had been here before. We live in West Plano so we have local access to Mexican Sugar and Whiskey Cake (Same owner group I believe). Those are EXCELLENT and current Plano Hot-Hot Spots! Wish we had a "The Ranch" in Plano...hint-hint. Its almost worth the drive :)"

  • "I have been coming to The Ranch for a couple of years now and they never fail to deliver. I bring friends, family, clients, and business associates in on a regular basis. My favorite is the Smoked Fried Chicken; It's a regular on the dinner menu and I'm usually there on Wednesdays to have it as their lunch special."
    Dined on 7/25/2014
  • "I used to just love to bring my customers to the Ranch; however, the last couple of times I have not been too impressed by the quality of the food. There was no love in my fall back favorite! And to make matters worse there was no inspiration to be had on the menu... Come on people you started out fantastic and the atmosphere is still there but even the simple stuff like the flatbread with goat cheese was bland and lacking flavor. It is pretty sad when goat cheese is in the name of the item and you can barely find the cheese."

  • "This is one of the best locations in Las Colinas I have found. For ages my gf and I have complained there's no local, non-chain restaurant that serves good food and drink for a nice dinner. Little did I know this was hiding behind taco diner off the hwy. The food is great Texas style locally sourced with healthy servings to make up for their $25+ price point. Drinks are a bit pricy to me but are great quality so I can't be too upset. Happy hour seems like a home run though we missed it on our first visit. I will be coming back. That is for sure."

  • "So lucky to have such a great place near my office for lunch. Eat here often. Love that smoked fried chicken with the sublime mini potato salad."

  • "Service was very slow. Not much different than a Chilis experience."
    Dined on 7/11/2014
  • "The buffalo burger was juicy and tender, which is not an easy thing pull off with such lean meat. It probably helped that I ordered mine medium. Was duly impressed by the accompanying fries, which were hand-cut and fried fresh. My husband's catfish was similarly fresh with a crispy, seasoned cornmeal batter that took me back to the fish fries of my childhood :-) Should have made a note of our server's name because she was OUTSTANDING, and she mentioned she'd been there for years--hard to keep good staff in a restaurant, so that must mean good management. Almost forgot to mention that the craft cocktails are out of this world, albeit pricey, but that's just the cost of a craft cocktail in Big D. Will go back!"

  • "We found this restaurant while traveling for business. The steak selection is great. The goat cheese grits were amazing. We had a great waiter too - gave us time and space to eat, drink and relax. Great night out."

  • "Steak was amazing - great flavor - pecan pie was also good !!!"

  • "We found The Ranch a few years ago and have always enjoyed dining there. We love the farm to market kind of approach and always have difficulty picking what we want to eat there as everything is excellent. The Sunday buffets for holidays and special days are the best we have ever found. We just were at the Father's Day Buffet and it was outstanding. The amount of food that is available is over the top and everything was great. Our family really enjoyed it. We will be back!"

  • "Took our dads here for Father's Day Brunch and thought it was fantastic. Very elaborate buffet--too many choices almost! We mostly did small plates and shared at the table so we could try a variety of items. Loved the shrimp, ribs, warm potato salad, taco bar. The waiter, Nick, was great--very attentive and funny. Would like to go back and try something off the regular menu soon."

  • "The Ranch at Las Colinas is a great place to go, but is pricey. Their local and Texas native offerings are very flavorful and usually a tad spicy, but you pay for it on the bill."
    Dined on 6/15/2014
  • "Yum, what a great restaurant. Well-cooked, locally sourced food, delicious cocktails, great service, what's not to love. For some reason the waiters always ask why you've come there (to eat your food, duh), but overlooking that quirk it's probably the nicest restaurant in Irving other than Via Real."

  • "My father was in town so we took him to The Ranch for the variety of selections, including vegetables. Randall provided great service in spite of our busy 6:30 reservation time. Tuesday night and the place was still fairly packed, thanks to several large groups. Elk tacos were great as usual but it would be nice to have the option of no red onions. Chipotle meatloaf never fails. Finally tried the black snapper since the redfish has been downsized and was very happy with my decision. Grilled asparagus always great but broccolini still has too much tobacco smell/flavor for my preference. Grilled skirt steak salad was good but it never seems particularly special to me. We were short on time so we will double up on dessert next time."

  • "This is a fun restaurant, I have been back a few times. It's not the best steak I've had (I call out anyone in my top 10), but pretty good nonetheless."

  • "Had a great time. The food was good and the atmosphere was spectacular. Sat in the bar. Love the waitress. She was helpful, nice and good at keeping our drinks filled up."

  • "Enjoyed the food and atmosphere, but the noise level at lunch was not comfortable for conversation. I would not return for a dinner meal if I wanted to enjoy the company."

  • "Thank you for for exemplary service and food. I was able to give our out of town guest a Texas feel restaurant perfectly. "

  • "Too busy for groups during the weekday lunch hour but delicious food and great service."

  • "Fairly ordinary restaurant with indifferent service, at least from our waiter. He went through the motions without listening. At one time he honestly said, as he passed by the table without even breaking stride, "how is everything tasting? Fantastic? Great." Had he stayed I would have pointed out that the food was not fantastic. In addition, he referred to me as "Bud" which, given that I am easily old enough to be his father, was particularly annoying. The steak I had was ordinary. The appetizers, onion rings and fried green tomatoes, were decent. There is no reason to return to this restaurant. "

  • "We always enjoy the Ranch. My steak was tender and juicy... But I wish they had free bread service like other steakhouses."

  • "I love The Ranch. By far it is my favorite. While I wish this restaurant was closer to us, it's worth the hour drive. Food is always fresh and prepared perfectly!"

  • "Great burgers & fries. Latest favorite is the smoke fried chicken. A little noisy because there's usually a crowd at lunch."
