The best thing that can be said about this restaurant is that it is convenient when you are going to see a show. Went on a Sunday evening and everything was nice as far as the staff went. But, then the waiter disappeared immediately after our orders were received. The water guy took care of us very well, though, and stayed on top of things. The food is good here, but not anything fancy like you might expect at an opera house, and what can only be described as the pasta sushi dish was interesting. Only negative is the waiter; as soon as our party asked the waiter to split the bill, he became visibly annoyed and then disappeared for a long while. This is not an odd request since he should have asked us if we wanted it split beforehand.

Menu, food, and service were fine, not great but OK for the location. However, the overall experience was poor since we had to wait over 45 minutes for our entrees, nearly causing us to miss the show upstairs. The table next to ours was worse: they were seated 90 minutes before show time, yet they had to choose between eating or seeing the play, and this was the opera house cafe. We won't be returning.

It was a great location to head to the production afterwards at the Opera House. The service was good. The food is limited and very basic. tps They need to have a signature dish or two. It was a good learning experience. We would not go there again. The roasted red pepper hummus was very good but the side pita chips were stale. I questioned whether they were made today. My guest had the lobster mac an cheese and said the lobster tasted fishy.

Decent food, acceptable prices (except for dessert and wine which were a bit on the high side), nothing special. The biggest thing going for this place is the location. If you are attending a show at the Opera House, the convenience is fantastic. No more rushing around, eating fast, and then scrambling to park; you are literally right next door.

The food selection on the dinner menu is limited, but overall the food was good. We were disappointed in the table. We were seated in a high traffic area next to the bar and the entry to the kitchen. The service staff frequently bumped into my wife's chair when walking through. We had to wait a long time for our server to come back by the table to get our bill and then to pick up our payment.

Convenient location next to opera house. Dinner was fair..choices were limited. Side salad, pitiful..no anchovies... croutons and limp lettuce. Chicken was just ok, not outstanding. Vegetarian pasta...not many vegetables, needed garnish of fresh veg. Service was slow...had to keep waving to waitress. We had to rush through dinner. Our reservation was at 6 pm, giving us plenty of time. But the rush at the end. Was troubling. The location made it worthwhile. But really not a meal to write home about.

Two chicken Ceasar salads were ordered off the show menu which took too long to prepare. Also, we did not expect to get chicken breast on the salad that came from a bag and that was "slimy." For a restaurant in the Detroit Opera House, this was very dissappointing. The servers were very friendly but not very attentive. We had to ask for our bill because our server was running the bar as well. We wereally almost late for our show.

We recently attended an event at the Detroit Opera House & decided to give this restaurant a try, due to its convenience. We were very pleased with our service & their ability to get customers out in time for the performance. We also took advantage of the offer to order desserts and drinks ahead of time for intermission. It was a nice touch.

With the restaurant filled with theater goers, there were only 2 servers. Our server AJ was outstanding. After waiting to few minutes for drink orders, our party of 5 was well taken care of. AJ took all our separate orders without even writing down a thing. She apologized for the short wait, smiled and she even repeated the correct orders back to us just to make sure it was right. While waiting for food I some how managed to knock over my glass of wine, which was quickly cleaned up and I was brought a replacement glass at no charge. Her attention to detail and charming personality made our visit extra nice. I would go back for dinner there any time, especially if AJ could wait on us.

Cadillac Cafe is on the ground floor of the Detroit Opera House which makes it an easy choice for this theater. The food was tasty and moderately priced. There was a limited, but decent wine selection. If you are going to the Detroit Opera and food is not your priority, the Cadillac Cafe makes for a convenient yet tasty filling station. The service was friendly and efficient.

The food was okay. Nothing special to write about. But I was dismayed when I checked my credit card statement and found that they changed the tip on the bill from 18% to 20% without my permission. I guess they think that their customers are so stupid that they wouldn't notice the difference. It wasn't so much about the money. It just showed how dishonest they were. Just beware.

We had a great waitress. We waited longer than expected. We think it was due to the fact one of us ordered an entree. Others around us who ordered sandwiches or a salad seemed to be served quickly. Food was reasonably priced and we would go again. Best part was ordering dessert and coffee and having it ready for us at intermission. Perfect!

The Cadillac Café was a pleasant surprise! We were looking for a restaurant to try close to the Opera House before a performance to avoid having to park twice. We were skeptical about the Cadillac Café just because it is only opened on performance days and the menu was limited. BUT, the food was excellent, the service was spectacular and it was a relaxed dining experience because we didn't have to rush to get to Opera House. We would definitely dine there again!

I recently tried Cadillac Café for the first time before a performance at the Detroit Opera House. It is a small place (so I definitely suggest reservations). The service was good and we were finished in time to get to our seats without rushing. The bartender didn't have a blender to make a daiquiri and didn't seem to know how to make a daiquiri on the rocks (rather than a frozen one). the food was good (lobster mac and cheese and lamb shanks) but not outstanding. We were not asked if we wanted dessert. It is very convenient to go here before a performance so you are not rushed.

The Cadillac Cafe is on the premises of the Detroit Opera House, and if you look at the web site, would seem to be a perfect place to eat before the show. Upon arrival we learned that only a small fraction of the menu was available on a special "show" menu, mostly sandwiches and salads. While there were a number of staff milling about, only one highly energetic and personable waitress was taking orders, so there was a lot of waiting. My club sandwich had no options as to bread, nor an offer to toast. No condiments were on the table. The food was all very wholesome, if uninspired. Very convenient for a snack before the show, but give yourself plenty of time.

It is the staff plus the quality of food which makes the Cadillac Café so delightful. From the hostess to the servers, staff smiled, were welcoming and friendly. Naturally the menu is delightful for lunch--did miss the Lobster Mac however--apparently lobsters had not made their way from the Detroit River, Eh!

The Cadillac Cafe is THE place to go for pre-Opera dining. It is located within the Detroit Opera House & the service is very good. They offer convenient on-line reservations that are user friendly! You have a choice of ordering a full meal from appetizer to dessert OR, if you don't want to "sit" on a full stomach, they offer a very nice lighter fare that's a great choice prior to going into the theater for several hours. Be sure to give Cadillac Cafe your every consideration!!

This charming, intimate little cafe is just the right place to dine before a performance, and to visit during intermission. While the limited menu food is very good, and the service warm and welcoming (although can be little slow; you may have to prompt your server with a reminder about performance times), it is the ambiance and the convenience that most attracts. You have a view of America's Park; one evening after a winning game, we watched fireworks as we dined! A charming option: arrange for champagne and dessert to be waiting for you at your table during intermission. You avoid the concession stand crowds and have a delightful opportunity to talk about the performance at its mid point. Prices are also very reasonable.

This place is perfect if you don't want to deal with going somewhere downtown, parking, eating, and getting in the car to drive to the Opera House. The food is decent and priced well. Full bar, some pretty nice cocktails, and a great view out to Comerica were all enough to bring me back. We both got the salmon and steamed vegetable. Salmon was a little dry and a bit salty, but neither were worthy of a major complaint, especially for the price. Was nice to finish up and walk right out to the theater. I would likely not visit if not seeing a show though. The convenience, price, and great service though will make it a staple for me before any performance.
