Cacio e PepeA Short Trip to RomaWe have been to Caccio e Pepe many times, especially for their signature dish: Tonnarelli Cacio e Pepe (homemade tonnarelli pasta tossed in pecorino cheese with black peppercorns). But based on the quality of a recent visit, we plan to dine here more often. The service is always friendly and efficient. The summer menu includes a salad and two pastas which were excellent: Baby Spinach Salad, Watermelon, Goat Cheese & Toasted Almonds; Artichoke Ravioli, Parmesan Cream, Ginger & Lime; and Homemade Fettuccine with Cantaloupe, Port Wine, Mint, Parmesan, Touch of Cream. If you haven't tried Cacio e Pepe, then do your tastebuds a favor and try it soon--it's a lot cheaper and quicker than a trip to Rome!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMDining al frescoHidden neighborhood oasis; tastefully landscaped garden setting in the back of the restaurant with lush green bushes, trees and flowers; delicious Italian food; romantic hide-away on a balmy summer night5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMBetter every timeThis place keeps getting better and better. The new menu is amazing!5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent Food - Good ServiceMy review would have been higher had it not seemed as though we were rushed through our $400 dinner. We reserved and confirmed a 10pm reservation. And yet when we arrived the staff was less than thrilled to be seating at 10pm and as other patrons finished we just began our meal and the staff cleaned around us. The food was excellent and despite the initial negativity the staff was pleasant during our meal - although they cleaned around us. Would have been nice not to feel rushed. If the restaurant prefers to not begin new service past 10pm - they should not accept reservations so late. Food was excellent otherwise!5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat bang for the buckaffordable with great food. The signature dish is a must and totally delicious. I went with 2 friends this time - we split a caprese salad, and ordered the lasagna along with the cacao e pepe. It was plenty without feeling stuffed. We shared a dessert. A good go-to and I will return!5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMsuper greatall around great experience, best italian food in the east village hands down. wine list is excellent. try the eggplant parm, you won't be disappointed!5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMService efficient and timely.Service efficient and timely. Food was terrific. Good wine list. Noise level high.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat restaurant, great food.Great restaurant, great food. I was visiting NYC and didn't want to venture outside of the neighborhood for dinner. This was a perfect spot. My only complaint is that the server did not tell us about the house special, but we kept seeing it being delivered to tables and it looked absolutely yummy so I felt that we had missed out on a great dish so I definitely recommend asking what they are known for and their most ordered dish.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMOur group ended up stayingOur group ended up staying until closing and we didn't know it was closed because the staff still took care of us and made sure we had all we need. I was very satisfied with the quality of the food and wine.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMorder the namesake dish, order the namesake dish, you won't be disappointed.
