Cabezon Restaurant and Fish MarketGreat ChefFour-star restaurants are only has good as the chef. At Cabezon, the chef is very good. Staff was friendly, good pace, place is small but manageable . Not so noisy. Highly recommend.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautiful place, beautiful foodThe complex and subtle dishes are well-explained by the knowledgeable, enthusiastic staff, so please let them guide you. We started with a smoked sturgeon appetizer, and it was incredible; like fish bacon, which is a compliment! There was quite a bit of fork and spoon passing so we could all taste everything. My cioppino was brightened by fennel, saffron and fresh dill. Delicious! So was everything else on our table. The cocktails are fresh and as carefully prepared as the food. The profiteroles with bourbon ice cream, chocolate sauce and candied hazelnuts may be the best dessert I have ever had, anywhere. We enjoyed everything about our visit to Cabezon and will come again.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMfair price, great service and foodI would go back. Nice place, nice service, great to very good food; prices were reasonable and the dessert we had was AWESOME! (some chocolate thing...yum)...Go and give it a try...I don't think you will be disappointed.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMCan't imagine a better experienceMy husband and I celebrated our anniversary at Cabezon. I can't imagine a better experience. From the food to the service to the friendly people in the bar to the inventive and delicious cocktails...Cabezon hit on all levels. I look forward to returning.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMPretty noisey for conversation,Pretty noisey for conversation, since tables were very close together; also our table was too small. Husband would have preferred more fish/seafood in the beautiful broth; my fish was wonderful. Loved the neighborhood location. Would definitely return again.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of our favoritesCabezon is one of our favorite restaurants. They have some of the best fish anywhere. They keep their prices reasonable. It's not fancy, that's for sure, but it's casual, pleasant and all about the food. They treat the fish with respect -- not overdoing it but great accompaniments. Excellent meat dishes as well -- our friends tell us, but we've only eaten the fish. I love the basil wrapped shrimp. Excellent desserts as well. And they are flexible with their cooking so my husband can enjoy their food without or with very very little salt. That's something that is difficult at a lot of Portland restaurants that seem to think you are insulting the chef if you ask for food without salt.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMNeighborhood Gem!The staff and the restaurant are amazing. Everyone truly cares about the food and wine they prepare and serve. It was a nice time celebrating my husband's birthday. The place really is a neighborhood gem and we will be returning... often!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMVery fresh, well-preparedVery fresh, well-prepared and flavorful. At my table, we had the cioppino, the steak, and a sea bass entree. Each was delicious. I think it is fairly priced for the quality of ingredients, but too expensive to be more than a special occasion restaurant for my family. Otherwise, I would be a regular.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a great meal. TheWe had a great meal. The gruper entree was exellent as well as the fresh oysters and everything else. We had possibly the best voka martini we ever had on top of the great dinner.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food prep and veryExcellent food prep and very consistent. My favorite in Portland!4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was very good and serviceFood was very good and service prompt. Variety of menu choices. Nice variety of sea food3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food and service,Excellent food and service, I would highly recommend the restaurant. Great food and friendly service. The mussels are excellent.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful dining experience! We had a wonderful server and the food was delicious! What a treat to celebrate my mother-in-law's 85th birthday here. They gave us complimentary champagne with dessert as a final tip. We had an early reservation on a Friday night which wasn't necessary but did assure us what we thought was the best table in the house.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Butterfish dish was veryThe Butterfish dish was very small. For the price I was disappointed as I left a bit hungry.. It was so delicious that a few more bites would have been great. The appetizer was two bite size pancakes as well. . We wil probably come back however because the restaurant has nice ambience and art!3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good food, excellentVery good food, excellent casual service, small restaurant with goos ambiance. Great for dates or small gathering.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious fish and pastaFrom my review on TripAdvisorThe papardelle with ragu hits the spot. When I wasn't sneaking a bite off of the others' dishes, I was contending with a very enjoyable filo, feta and spinach tart with a serving of nicely prepared cod. The servings were deceiving, appearing to be too little at first and promising to be exactly the right portion for each in our party. The dining room was warm (a luxury in Portland during the winter months) and the service was very cordial and prompt. Wine pairings complemented each of our entrees perfectly. We were very pleased with this selection and will return. Also, the chef checked on us, which I really appreciated. He's a cool guy.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMNot our first visit and won'tNot our first visit and won't be the last; the food was as good as we expected it to be with previous visit's experiences. Wait staff was friendly and efficient.3/12/2013 12:00:00 AMReally great seafood basedReally great seafood based menu complimented by "expert" service. The kitchen and dining room staff have their act together. If you agree, stop by the open kitchen and share your sentiments with the culinary team.1/4/2013 12:00:00 AM
