This restaurant was very good when it opened. It is clear that someone else is now running the kitchen. Everything we were served was just ok. That is not good enough. A big disappointment and a pro meal.

Decent not overly imaginative food. Nice staff but extremely slow and inattentive. Not great value for money; definitely need to either lower prices or up their game.

Duck was excellent and the poached salmon was great. The service was professional. The wine list is fair. My main complaint is that the restaurant is not very cozy and intimate. Befitting its location as part of a large hotel, it is not surprising that it designed to serve a lot of hungry patrons.

The food was delicious but the service was sub par: one of our party asked for lime with her drink in the cocktail lounge and she got an orange slice instead; another asked for green beans at the dinner table and got spinach. They were very nice about correcting the mistakes, but it shouldn't have happened in the first place at a restaurant like this.

Restaurant was comfortable and service was prompt and polite. We tried halibut and scallop dishes, which were excellent. We were early pre-theater so restaurant was quiet. Also seemed to have a nice bar. Location was in lobby of hotel but separate enough to not feel like it. Overall very good and I would definitely go back.

really had a wonderful meal here pre-theatre We shared a beet salad and pumpkin ravioli to start, both good but the pumpkin ravioli won out for me, Ask entrees we had were great, if you like scallops these were the best. A really rich sophisticated dish. I would go back anytime justfor that entree . The salmon was also excellent. Our server was Jay who was friendly and helpful. Place was buzzy and bizzy, and highly recommend for a sophisticated option in this neighborhood

The purpose of going out to dinner is to enjoy good food and enjoy the company of family and friends. Service should never be the issue. When waiters and managers fail to meet the requests of clients and are openly antagonistic it dominates the conversation and detracts from the experience. I can't recommend this restaurant because of the service.

I have liked eating here. Have dined here for lunch and dinner a number of times. Food is fresh, well prepared, nicely presented and table service has generally been fine. Pre-theater lunch or dinner is great as it is within walking distance of Broadway plays. -Options include full hot lunches as well as salads and sandwiches. Good choices for evening theater goers. Dinners are fine, enough choices for all tastes. Wait staff is cognitive of time and work hard to space courses to get you to your play without problems. Nice spacing of tables and comfortable booths. Noise level can be high when the restaurant is full, however you can easily converse with your dining partners. My only reservation is that preference for tables is not always reacted to, but I would put in my request when making your reservation which are a must.

We love dining at CaVa when we are in New York! We have twice celebrated our anniversary there and they have made it a very special occasion! The portions are generous so we often share a salad - most recently, the Salade De Chou Frise which was delicious! Coquilles St Jacques and the grilled lamb were both extraordinary! The service sets Ca Va apart - never hovering but always at the ready! When we arrived we were told (without asking) that our preferred server was no longer with them (mind you, we dine there about once a year). I wish I could remember our server's name for this night for he was equally wonderful! The manager was attentive and made it apparent that he cared about every aspect of our experience. The warm welcome combined with the New York vibe are what we look for when dining in NYC. We recommend Ca Va!!

Decent breakfast/brunch in regards to quality. Buffet only was a little bit of a disappointment, would have preferred a la carte options. Rather expensive for breakfast buffet with typical selections of eggs, potatoes, breakfast meats, bread selection. No "foodie" type options to justify price (nearly $30 per person). 18% gratuity automatically added to the bill for a party of 2. Almost didn't catch it on the itemized. Be cognizant.

For the theater district, this restaurant is amazing. I was just there last night, and can say this has been the best restaurant I've been to thats around that area. It was super busy, and it was the pre theater crowd (myself included). The service was a little slow, but then again it was very busy, and our waiter comped dessert off the bill for that. The escargots were delicious, and I had the lamb porterhouse, which was cooked very well. The truffle mac and cheese is to DIE FOR. I had the flourless chocolate cake, which was pretty good. The waiter was as attentive as can be knowing we had an 8 oclock show to attend. Would def go there again.

What a gem. Four of us had a early dinner before going to the theatre. Host was friendly and brought us directly to our table. Waiter was pleasant and immediately took our drink order. I was brave and ordered a pork cheek dish which was excellant. All four of us were pleased and satisfied with our food. The restaurant was busy so reservations are a must. Great NYC dining experience.

Not a good experience: food was very good but due to very poor service we had no time to enjoy it. Arrived early when few were seated and waiter told time was of the essence. Ordered an appetizers and main courses. Waiter had advised he would say if what we ordered would take long to prepare. Nothing was said but unhappily we waited and waited and watched as others who came after us were served. When we voiced our dismay, waiter dishonest: told us the food was being plated when it wasn't. When we again questioned the delay, we were told he would bring the main course while we were still eating our first course. Had to speak to the manager who immediately understood the situation and was upright in the way she handled it. However, we had been very upset and our dining experience had already been spoiled.

This was my fourth time dining at Ca Va. It was definitely one of my first choices when in the theater district. So I did not hesitate to bring my friends there ,and I had raved about the delicious food and its presentation. This time the food and its presentation were just fair and the portions were so small I felt like we barely had appetizers after finishing dinner. Frankly, I was embarrassed that I had recommended it. I will not be returning anytime soon.

I've been to this restaurant 3 times now and have enjoyed each time as have my guests. This past visit, however, service was a bit slow and unattentive. My guests twice had to ask for water and it seemed as though our server was not attuned to our needs although he appeared to have down time, so not sure what the issue was really. This wouldn't stop me from going back, as the lamb porterhouse was excellent! My guest had the NY Strip which looked amazing and she enjoyed it very much.

Excellent food. We were sitting in the lounge for a while, having arrived early and were wondering why no one was serving or even asking if we had a reservation. When our friend came we went up to the front and realized that the bar was open on that side of the room. The service was very slow and we had to ask for the check at the end of 2 hours because we had tickets for a show. We also had to ask for items repeatedly. Two of us had the croque Madame and it was delicious. We never made it to dessert unfortunately.

This is a convenient pre theater spot with some very good food. Despite the lounge in the front of the bar, the ambience is flat. However, the food is good and the staff accommodating to those with dietary issues. The location is just a bit off the theater grid and the buzz or lack thereof, doesn't help it get over that hurdle.

The dining options were terrific, particularly for making a feast out of 2-3 starters. Mussels in French opinion soup base -- genius! Split shank bone 1/2 filled with succulent marrow and tartare in other half -- fabulous! But the wine list, especially for wines by the glass, was insubstantial and brought down the entire meal. Not sure I can return unless improvements are made or I'm allowed to bring my own bottles with reasonable corkage fee.

The last time we visited Ca Va, a few years ago, the restaurant offered a varied and fairly priced pre-theatre, pre-fixe menu. Not so these days. Unless one is prepared to deal with a $44 menu with limited choices (2 per course) featuring pork belly and pork cheeks, one must order from the VERY EXPENSIVE a la carte menu. We were there for early dinner prior to theatre so the restaurant was not crowded, but the service was inattentive to the point of being ludicrous. WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN.
