From reception to table service to food to check, we always enjoy our time here, whether for lunch, dinner, or brunch. We also go for a drink or coffee in the living room area in the evening.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good steakWe had a very pleasant night. The server was very kind. We had the steak with the truffled potatoes and truffled mac and cheese. Really recommend. We had a problem when they closed the kitchen without letting us know and we almost ended up without desert. We complained with the waiter and they served us. Unfortunately, the deserts weren't that good.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThank youYour new breakfast Buffet was delicious, a little pricey. The seating is comfortable - tables sufficiently spaced apart so one can have a private conversation. The food was interesting and delicious. This was a pre-theatre lunch - but we woulde happily eat dinner here and enjoy brunch as well.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMGreart for pre-theater dining!Ca Va is in the heart of the theater district. Just wish I got to meet Todd!!!!!4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMThis wasn't our first dinnerThis wasn't our first dinner at Ca Va and again we weren't disappointed. The Beet Salad is a must. My husband is still talking about his Chilean Sea Bass entree. We shared the Madeline cookies with a chocolate fondue for dessert. It was a simple way to end a delicious meal. We will definitely go back for dinner soon.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMMy friend and I went for lunch. My friend and I went for lunch. We have the Chicken sandwich which according to the waiter is the most popular sandwich on the menu. We really enjoyed it. The atmosphere is really good here for happy hour drinks at the bar and just hanging out. I would go again and have been here multiple time already.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMTerrific! It was my birthday and we kept the kitchen open but they were very gracious and the food and service was fantastic! Would definitely recommend!4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderfuls spot. We had theaterWonderfuls spot. We had theater at 8, arrived at 6 and had no issue getting out in time. Beautiful restaurant with excellent food.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMHighly pleasing atmosphereHighly pleasing atmosphere at Ca Va. This past time, we settled in for a Saturday brunch. Would have preferred more offerings. But our ricotta filled lemon pancakes and croque monsier were more than satisfactory. We did prefer a weekday lunch last month with wonderful french bread to start and (more on the menu)!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat pre-show dinner location.Great pre-show dinner location. Can't wait to go back!4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMA new find for before theaterA new find for before theater and a delicious one at that.. I have never tasted a more delicious beet salad, and the waiter had no problem with two of us sharing...the portion was still generous. Our plates barely needed washing. I had an amazing organic salmon, my friend the evening's special of a scrumptious poussin. E left for the theater delighted with this experience and will be back.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautiful restaurant. TheBeautiful restaurant. The food was excellent as was the service. I had the escargot and the scallop risotto and they were both delicious. Others in our party had the steak frittes, and they were happy with their meals as well.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our second dinnerThis was our second dinner here. I liked the food so much the first time that I bought a Todd English cookbook the next day. His food is extremely good and his presentations are beautiful. Our group of four were all delighted with the food on Sunday. The service, however, is a bit amateurish. For instance, the waiter got an appetizer order wrong and went to correct it; but I was unable to get anyone's attention for another plate so that we could all share our appetizers with the one person without food. Then, when people finished courses at different speeds, the server wanted to remove plates on an individual basis, while others were still eating. Also, while this is not an intimate, romantic room it is still very attractive.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMThis food deserves a nicer setting! The menu is terrific and the food was spectacular, but the setting felt like a hotel coffee shop.
The service was lovely too.
We went for a pre theatre dinner, and the meal was well timed so we left on-time stress free.
The room was fairly empty - it was 6:30.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMCan't wait to go back. Our dinner was exceptional. Can't wait to go back. Oysters were the best we've ever had. Tuna was still the star of the evening. It was a special evening. We loved it!4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMit was perfect for pre-theaterit was perfect for pre-theater dining in the area. The fact that it opens at 5 was a plus, since our show time was 7 PM.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMCaVa is a beautifully appointedCaVa is a beautifully appointed restaurant with wonderful food and an even better wait staff; you really feel like the people who work there like their jobs, and every meal that I've had has been better than the last. I recommended it highly.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were there for Good FridayWe were there for Good Friday lunch so it was fairly quiet. Food was delicious. Try the ravioli with peas and pancetta for appetizer and the red bibb salad with a vanilla vinagrette dressing. Also try the salmon, duck, chicken paillard and chicken avocado blt.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMFood and service was as expected.Food and service was as expected. Top notch. Third time there and will go again.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect spot for an earlyPerfect spot for an early pre theatre dinner . . everything was wonderful!3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding!Once again the food and wait staff were outstanding. The gnoccio was so fresh that it melted in my mouth and another person said the chicken salad was refreshing and light (a "must try"). No matter what I eat, it is always amazing. The wait staff were knowledgable and attentive (but not annoying). The crowd was spaced well apart from others so we were able to have a quiet converstion. Perfect spot for a business mtg or celebration. Ca Va is a hidden gem.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food, service, ambienceThe food, service, ambience and amenities are excellent in the back room. Perhaps a little face lift for the front.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMYou must visit!!!Me and my mother visited the restaurant for the first time and it was on the day my mothers birthday. I mentioned in the reservation through open table that its gonna be a birthday dinner(thinking maybe we could get a better table). The service was outstanding and super fast(we were in a rush for the musical show). Food was delicious! We got the desert and there was a big surprise for both of us!! A cake with a candle! That was very thoughtful from the restaurant. I would definitely come here again! The only thing you may not like is that this place is packed in the evening and a bit noisy.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMOur pleasure to dine thereWe picked the International Hotel in NYC specifically because Ca Va was located there. We had a Sunday brunch, several breakfasts, and two dinners. Each time was perfection; with knowledgeable and attentive staff, food that would please any palate and presentation with pizazz. My 16 year old son said it was the best steak he had ever eaten and he has been to many fine restaurants all over the world. The food was not pretentious but layered with flavors. The evening dress was smart casual, the ambiance was comfortable with the lively theater crowd at the bar waiting for curtain call down the street, and good conversations could be heard throughout the restaurant without being too loud. Overall, "casually special".3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMHighly RecommendedWe visited Ca Va after an afternoon Broadway show for dinner and ordered a la carte. Food presentation as well as the quality of service was excellent. For such an open environment the atmosphere while not intimate was pleasantly appealing. Portions were appropriately generous without being so much that you cannot possibly finish them. Location is in the Theater district and convenient to parking and public transportation. While not inexpensive, the prices charged were appropriate with the quality offered.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMAll of the four meals wereAll of the four meals were imaginative and well prepared3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMI just keep on coming back.I just keep on coming back. Again and again and again. Never disappointed3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMAttractive brasserie in theAttractive brasserie in the Intercontinental Hotel. Spacious, comfortable, nice lighting, and fireplace in the bar area. The lounge serves small plates, and there's a take-out bakery. Food was good, although it can be a bit uneven. They offer a prix-fixe. Nice for brunch.3/7/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a WinnerWe live in the neighborhood. Ca Va never fails. We love it.3/3/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went for lunch and orderedWe went for lunch and ordered off the Restaurant Week menu. The food was very good and artfully presented. Portions were a decent size. The waiter was very good -- in fact, we had 2 waiters offering to serve us! The Restaurant Week menu included a glass of wine but no dessert -- the waiter let us substitute dessert for the glass of wine. We liked the decor and the way the restaurant was laid out -- very open and inviting with a row of booths down the middle of the restaurant. We were given a booth even though there were only two of us. The lounge area looked very nice too, with lots of sofas and coffee tables and a fireplace. The bar is very long with lots of stools to allow eating at the bar. We really enjoyed our experience there!2/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a gem!I am never disappointed when I dine here at Ça Va . I always bring friends and the are always satisfied to the utmost. What a dining gem!
R F Scherma1/23/2013 12:00:00 AMBar, Breads and BonhomieWhy let the tourists and conference attendees have this gem of a restaurant to themselves at the Intercontinental when it's a PERFECT pre-theater and lunch venue for New Yorkers. Excellent changing array of tasty small plates --esp. the flat breads and salads— and a wonderfully cozy bar, too, with excellent bar menu. Hospitable, well-trained and professional staff. One of best of Todd English's creations!11/13/2012 12:00:00 AM
