A word from C19 Cichetteria
Cicheteria defined: from Venetian origin; written “Cichetteria”; pronounced Chik-eh-terria.
A Cichetteria is a place where small plates, “cichetti,” are served, & guests can taste various wines, typically fresh, from local winemakers. At C19 Cichetteria, from our boutique winery, the wines are served from early morning until late at night. A weekly fresh market menu is offered for customers to indulge on our house specialties. C19 Cichetteria prides itself on its respect for mother earth & the environment & our knowledge of the food & wine we serve. Owner Andrea Luca Rossi is hands on, usually found working behind the bar or in the kitchen…sometimes even as a server…but always a great host. His expertise & authentic Venetian flair makes this bar & restaurant unique to the Philadelphia restaurant scene.
C19 Cichetteria has created a “Zero Miles Campaign,” in addition to the slow food movement lifestyle we implement. All of the products are purchased from local producers.

A great little gem, right off Rittenhouse. Casual, quiet, and comfortably elegant. Excellent craft coctails and an extensive wine list. The food: creative, masterfully prepared and each course a compliment to the next. Wonderful & knowledgable staff will guide you and make you feel at home.

On our flight from Florida we booked our reservations. We decided to enjoy small plates for our meal. We ordered a bottle of Wine from Sardina and it went wonderfully with the charcuterie plate and the cheese plate. We ordered the bufalo mozzarella and tomato. The creamiest mozzarella you have ever tasted. It is imported from Puglia. We also had the meatballs which are made from dry aged beef. In a word.....De-Lish

  • Venice Comes to Philadelphia!

Cichetteria 19 is a small gem tucked away just off Rittenhouse Square. It is modeled after the restaurants in Venice that serve small plates of various dishes, similar to tapas. They partner with local farms to serve the freshest ingredients. Our salads, risottos, and desserts were all delicious. The salads both had great flavors. I especially enjoyed my mushroom risotto made with locally-grown mushrooms. The tiramisu and Nutella budino desserts were both to die for. Their pizzas and baked Branzino (baked in salt, the way the Italians do it) also looked really delicious. I plan to go back and sample their other delicacies, along with a Bellini! It's great for couples, but children and small groups are welcome here too.

A friend and I were celebrating her birthday courtesy of TravelZoo. The service was wonderful, informative, gracious and accommodating. We LOVED our drinks, a My Fair Lady and a house special Sangria, our appetizers, carpaccio and gnocchi with duck ragout (!), and our desserts: fig gelato with balsamic glaze, but were underwhelmed with our entrees. The birthday girl had the wild mushroom risotto, which she felt was too salty, and I had the whole bronzino baked in salt, which was fine, presented and fileted at table, but, in the end, forgettable. I would highly recommend trying it out - location, service and inspired menu making it well worth your trouble. And maybe you would have better luck with your entrees!

The word for C19 is good. Neither bad nor noteworthy, but ok good. The small plates options are varied, service up to par and food tasty. The wild mushroom risotto was a nice find, but all other menus items were without exception. It's not a place to rush back to and therefore difficult to recommend.

C19 did a great job with our food, including having gf pasta on the menu. The food was excellent and we liked that some of their food was locally sourced. Yhe waiter was super attentive. The only thing we wouldn't recommend (on the gluten front) is the homemade pizza crust; it was dry. It was really quite slow though and we had a 4 yr old with us. Next time we'll ask for her food to come out first.

We've been eating at Cichetteria since it opened, and it has gotten better and better. Last night the broccoli rabe, Venetian meatballs and charred Spanish octopus got the meal off to a great start. One of our group was thrilled that they offer gluten-free pasta. Although the Risi e Bisi first arrived without the Bisi, the second try was very good as was the wild mushroom risotto.

I went to this restaurant on a Sunday, 1:45pm. It took 20 minutes for the server to inform: "I'm sorry, but we are not serving lunch today", and change our menus for breakfast menus. Frustrate I asked if there was anything from the lunch menu available, since nobody had informed us, between reservation and the first 20 minutes there, that we'd have to eat breakfast. No smile, no explanation and no effort to consider our request. We left and went back to one of the several good restaurants at Rittenhouse square. We wre better off then!!!

Great small plates for sharing - the scallop appetizer was AMAZING! and so was the nutella bundino dessert! Order both if you go!! :) We also had the white pizza with figs and mint which was a unique combination. The gnocchi was very good as well. Definitely recommend going and sharing a bunch of small plates. Nice quiet place a block from Rittenhouse Square.

The food was generally flavorless. They do not offer any real entrees. Do NOT get the risotto. My husband tried the seafood risotto, and I tried the mushroom risotto. Neither tasted like anything at all. The meatballs were ok, but we thought we could make them ourselves and Prego's sauce would have been an improvement. Might not be a bad place for drinks since the cocktail list is extensive, but I would avoid the food.

Cute place and good service. But the food is hit or miss and the menu is uninspired. For example, the pasta special (also the only pasta on the menu) was pasta with mixed vegetables (zucchini, squash, tomatoes) and a white wine sauce. My mushroom pizza with truffle oil was good, though, and reasonably priced.

Our dinner Saturday night was excellent. Our salads, my husband's fillet, and my squid ink risotto were flavorful and cooked perfectly. The polenta served with the fillet was the best we've ever tasted, either in the States or Italy. Service was outstanding. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu and wine list and was attentive without being intrusive. The ratio of staff to table is unusually high for such a small place. We had a chance to speak to the owner after dinner and it is obvious that this Venetian chef takes great pride in presenting food, wine and service of the highest quality.

After reading reviews touting the improvements at C19 I decided to take a friend for his birthday. We ordered the apple salad which was oversalted to the point of being inedible. We also ordered a Margherita pizza that looked and tasted like it came out of the freezer. The only C19saving grave were the meatballs which were actually delicious. Unfortunately, this birthday dinner was a bust. I felt embarrassed for picking C19.
