I thought I would surprise my
girlfriend by taking her to C Street for the first time, but by the end of the meal we were both surprised. C street surpassed my expectations. The server was pure class. The food was classic (I had the buttermilk chicken) but it was plated in a sophisticated manner that only enhanced the appeal. When we went, the place was very quiet and intimate. This was on a Friday night, mind you. The only drawback to the restaurant was the price. It was a little over $30 a person before tip. We did enjoy a great seafood soup de jour in addition to our entrees though. Overall I highly recommend C Street."

the restaurant was average. The
place was well decorated inside. The food was good but nothing really to rave about. Not too many exotic dishes or risk taking. But I was still satisfied with the food and quality of service. And it was nice that they had their own parking lot so you don't have to find street parking."

Spent our Valentines evening here
and the food was breath taking. The service was on par for a restaurant of this caliber and staff were friendly and well educated about their menu items. Food was priced well for the quality and this will remain a top restaurant in Richmond for us to visit for our special occasions."

We had a lovely time. I was very
impressed with the quality of the menu and the specials. We had a great dinner"

My wife and I went to C Street for
Valentine's Day and everything was very nice. No complaints. I had a steak and it tasted great. My wife had fish (I forget the exact dish) and she also enjoyed it very much. Our waiter was very nice and helpful. I can't wait to go back."

I dined at C Street on New Year's
Eve. The service was BEYOND TERRIBLE. The waiter did not read us any of the specials, he forgot our bottle of champagne and we never ended up getting it, our order was completely wrong, and we ended up cancelling the order to leave and just going hungry for the night. AVOID."

Overall great experience. I
proposed to my girlfriend during our visit and the staff were extremely accommodating and friendly."

We chose to have our last meal of
2013 at one of our favorite restaurants - C Street. We were not disappointed. We ordered the Airline Chicken Breast and it was delicious. I rarely eat chicken, but this is the only restaurant I will order it from consistently. This is a gem of a restaurant on Cary Street. When the weather is warmer, they have a fabulous patio for wonderful outdoor dining."

Richmond is a city full of great
and unique restaurants. We have some great chefs and restaurant groups. This restaurant is in a great location and has an interesting layout. Dining outside watching the happenings on Cary Street is an experience. The service was subpar with a meek server who didn't know the menu or bar well. Giving him the benefit of the doubt--maybe he was new. The food was good but I've had much better food for the price. I am glad I tried this restaurant but not sure I need to go back."

Beautiful store front. Amazing
decor. Friendly service. Delicious!"

Our first time at C Street was a
good visit. Our server Lily was fantastic, going above and beyond the basics and elevating a good meal to great status. The Caribbean Stew was well seasoned and almost perfect although the scallops were a bit overdone. We found the skin-on aspect of the Buttermilk Chicken to be a bit messy and it was breaded excessively but it was moist and flavorful. The Manakintowne Salad was tasty and very fresh and the Lemon Cake with Pistachio Ice Cream was a fine finish to the meal. The surroundings at C Street were lovely and worthy of 5 stars except that the lighting was just too dim to read the menu comfortably. The front porch looks like a great place to people-watch while still enjoying a classy meal."

On a busy parents weekend
Saturday, found C Street surprisingly vacant inside at 6:30. A few tables on cool front outdoors were occupied, but we were a first anyway alone with the bartender. Previous visits had been at lunch, this our first dinner visit. Exceptional table settings and broad based wine list were accompanied by a almost warm bread basket. One vegetarian fish soup and three more solid meals were nicely presented, yet over powered with garlic. My brook trout was bland and sprigged with what was supposed to be string sweet potatoes, but tasted more like shredded carrot. While the overall impression was good, just not as special as we had hoped. The atmosphere however will bring us back another night."

A great new place I found by doing
a little searching. A cozy atmosphere with variety for everyone on the menu. I would definitely come back!"

Great food and service. Nice patio
and courtyard too."

C Street has a unique and varied
menu--delicious, fresh ingredients and attentive waitstaff. We chose a table on the deck with a great view overlooking people strolling on Cary Street on a beautiful evening."

This restaurant has a fantastic
front portch. It had a great breeze and the ambiance was awesome. Outside yet intimate. We got the meatloaf special, which is not something that I would usually order at a restaurant but it sounded so appealing when the server was describing it, that we had to have it. It lived up to the description and then some. It was awesome."
Dined on 9/4/2013
I wish this restaurant would
capitalize better on the patio they have on the side. It seems such a waste"
Dined on 8/31/2013
Wine list was not updated, very
frustrating, spent time testing wine. No Cabernet except the $60 bottle. Food was good, waitress was nice but didnt check on us enough. Appetizers: only had 2 mussels left. Dissapopinting night"
Dined on 8/18/2013
On a night where we wanted to dine
outdoors we got that request granted but little else. Service was stretched across too many tables and was enthusiastic but indifferent/impersonal if that's possible. The salmon and tuna entrees were just sort of a mash up inelegantly presented with too much rice and too few vegetables. The pork sliders to start we're the one bright spot. Look to see a new restaurant here within twelve months or sooner."
Dined on 8/17/2013
The food was very good and being
able to ssit outside on a warm summer night adds to the enjoyment."
Dined on 8/8/2013
The restaurant is charming and was
perfect for a ladies evening out. We took our time and was not rushed by the wait staff as the Wednesday night crowd was very sparse. I've dinned here in the past and enjoyed delicious food. Unfortunately, not this time. I had the rockfish fish dejour and it was very overdone. My friends ordered the pasta dish which was unexciting and underseasoned. I expected much more especially since it was such a slow night. With all the excellent restaurants in Richmond, I'm not sure I'll be back for dinner."
Dined on 8/7/2013
Went for lunch and was seated
outside on the front porch area. Weather was perfect. Food was presented well, prepared well, and portions were generous. Wine list selections were varied and reasonably priced. Service lagged at times but overall acceptable. Will definitely return."
Dined on 7/30/2013
Absolutely one of the best
treatments of soft shells I've ever had! The dish was so bright and full of tasty explosions - umami, I think they call it! I just wish it weren't so doggone expensive! Since it is, however, I'll keep it on my special occasions list! Oh, and, we could actually hear our table conversation - it was super!"

Very nice dinner with really good
and creative dishes. Very good presentation and relaxing atmosphere."

Had a nice graduation lunch for
five. Food was very good, service good, atmosphere very pleasant. Prices were reasonable too."

Great attentive waiter. Nice
location we sat on front balcony. Our waiter explained specials and wad top notch.we were attending the national jaquar car event and looking for something local. The cary town scene is great"
Dined on 6/15/2013
Great location in Cary Town; good
food and nice view of Cary Street from the outdoor dining."
Dined on 6/9/2013
Setting was excellent. My food was
served to the wrong table and I had to flag one of the waiters to correct the mistake. Food was great, yet under seasoned."
Dined on 5/24/2013
Came for my graduation dinner and
really enjoyed the energy of the staff. Very tentative. Made me want to apply to the restaurant, seemed like a great restaurant to work! My out of town family was taken back by the wine and ambience and would like to return when they return to Richmond."
Dined on 5/10/2013
The food was wonderful and the
service was friendly informed and professional."
Dined on 5/4/2013
Wonderful brunch with excellent
service. The owners and staff obviously take a lot of pride in their establishment."
Dined on 5/5/2013
Fabulous brunch. So nice to sit
outside and watch passerbys while enjoying the best crab cake I have ever had!"
Dined on 4/27/2013
While the food was wonderful, the
service was awful! Slow, slow, slow and kept saying they were sorry but they had a big table to work. I am sorry, being busy is NOT an excuse for not offering excellent service to ALL customers."
Dined on 4/26/2013
This was our first time at C.
Street and we really enjoyed it! The atmosphere is top notch--you feel like you're in New Orleans when you sit on the porch! The food was great and all the servers and people who worked there were friendly! This will definitely be a place we visit again soon!"
Dined on 4/13/2013
We were disappointed in the
service. The waitress was hard to hear and didn't come by often. She didn't ask how our food was till we were almost finished eating it and took a very VERY long time to deliver the bill. Two people offered to bring a bag for the rest of our wine and neither actually brought one. The menu was not explained very well by our waitress. The food was not as good as last time, seemed to lack flavor."
Dined on 4/16/2013
Long wait for food even though
there were few people in the restaurant. Once food finally came, both our meals were lukewarm...my husband's being a steak...not so good!"
Dined on 4/12/2013
A lovely setting and at 6:30 on a
week night we were the only customers inside. Despite the lack of business, it took 45 minutes for our food to arrive. There was also a mix up on the bill which ended the evening on an awkward note."
Dined on 4/8/2013
This is perhaps the worst service
experience I have ever had at an open table restaurant. When we arrived 10 minutes early for our reservation we were told our table was ready but that no servers would be available for us. It was 25 minutes before we were asked for our drink orders. I noticed other tables around us were not being served either. Our food took an hour to arrive from the time we ordered and was mediocre in quality. The beans in my stew were undercooked. The staff was polite, but at times felt condescending. The location is fabulous as is the interior but with so many other fine restaurants in Carytown, this one will not make it unless they hire more staff and train them properly."
Dined on 4/4/2013
The brunch menu looked promising
with a variety of interesting options, yet on this our second visit, C Street has failed to deliver anything other than mediocre food. It's a gorgeous atmosphere situated in the heart of Carytown and I wished the food could match its presence and measure up as it would certainly become one of our go to places since it's so close to home. Overcooked poached eggs just don't work on the dry Eggs Benedict Bread Pudding and the Crab Cakes were dry, lifeless blobs except for a dousing of sauce slathered on top. We wanted more!!! Service, although adequate was less than friendly, and actually leaned to the chilly side with our server. We would have preferred one of the smiling gentlemen who greeted us upon arrival"
