  • "I booked this restaurant for my birthday based on a friend's recommendation. The patio was too cold (the sun was going down) so we opted to sit inside. The chairs were plastic even inside (!). We were crammed into a table too small for 6 of us (it was really for 4) in a very busy spot near the hostess stand. Not pleasant. Even though I'd booked it and confirmed that the reservation was for my birthday, the waitstaff didn't sing to me (I was disappointed - I love having people sing Happy Birthday in Italian to me). And I didn't feel like bringing it up. The garlic bread was awesome; after that everything was pretty average. It was VERY noisy. The waiter's attention faltered after mid-meal. Overall, not impressed."

  • "I decided to bring my boyfriend's family here for dinner. As soon as we walked in we were greeted and seated, water was immediately brought to our table and their delicious garlic knots started arriving. My "father-in-law" started raving about their quick service and claiming the garlic knots to be the best garlic 'bread' he'd ever had. The wine toasting and sing-a-long created a fun and entertaining dinner environment! The food was delicious! The portions are very large! Both times I've visited C&O, I've gone home with tomorrow's lunch. Not only does C&O have the most delicious Italian food ever, they also have the most delicious mango sorbet for dessert(among the other dessert options). This is by far my favorite Italian restaurant!"

  • "Being Sicilian, I have had my share if excellent Italian cuisine. We were very pleasantly surprised to find the food was of quality ingredients. You can taste the quality at first bite. We live about 600 miles away, but will make this a must stop every time we are in town."

  • "Just a short walk from our hotel in Marina del Rey. Very close to Venice Beach. Food was very good. Service was very good. Tables and chairs were not the most comfortable. We actually wanted to eat inside. There did not appear to be any indoor seating. Yes, the garlic knots are good. Many others have commented on them. My wife had the sole and I had the veal. Both were very good. Paul M. was our waiter and did a very good job. The restaurant was very busy."

  • "We were recommended to this place by 2 people and it was great! The food was very good, very large portions, garlic knots were very good. At one time during our meal all the servers handed out a song sheet and the entire restaurant sang "That's Amore" while all the servers came by and clinked glasses with each table. It was adorable!"

  • "The Garlic Knots are famous, and they just keep coming! The honor system on wine refills is a fun little difference. The menu is extensive, the food is great and the servers are fun and engaging. On birthdays they sing to you in Italian."

  • "I've been coming here for years and every time I enjoy the garlic balls. I had a chicken parmigiana dinner with grilled veggies. The food was good, but the vegetables could have been cooked longer. The piece of chicken they gave me was large too. I had two glass of the house Chianti wine thinking it would get better the second time around... it didn't. I wouldn't recommend it."

  • "My husband and I took my daughter, her new husband and his mother and grandmother to C&O. The ambience was great. Our waiter was very attentive. We started off with calamari. It was wonderful. Everyone ordered pasta which was cooked perfectly. All of us would go back again!"

  • "C&O - right by the beach, good for a laugh - waiters come around with the 200 calorie garlic rolls every 5 minutes - fill up on those because the food is just ok. Nice touch with the roof gone, so good atmosphere and the waiters toast you every once in a while - they leave the bottle of wine and it's on the honor system, nice touch, but if you are coming for great food, beware...it's ok at best."

  • "... avoid the bread though! a real killer. I had a main course based on Penne, nothing fancy but tasty. Wine was ok, but not exceptional (Italian white). Service was reasonably quick considering the crowd on a Sat night."

  • "Having just moved to the area, we have dined at C & O Trattoria twice and had their food delivered once. The restaurant is lively, the service always friendly and very good! We were with a group of 7, celebrating birthdays and it was a lot of fun! We all enjoyed the "sing along" when the song "That's Amore" was played and the way the wait staff encouraged the singing. When we had food delivered, we were told that it would take 45 minutes to an hour. It was delivered in less than 25 minutes! That's service!"

  • "the only redeeming element of my visit. I went on a date night for Valentines's Day and ordered the special: heart shaped ravioli stuffed with lobster in cream sauce. No flavor, about a tablespoon of lobster in the entire dish. I was embarrassed because i had heard such raving reviews. I can understand that it wasn't part of their regular menu, but i wish they didnt just throw whatever they had lying around in the kitchen and call it a special,"

  • "I always have a great time when dining at C&O Trattoria. I love the food and the waiters are very knowledgeable, especially when it comes to the daily specials. The ambiance is so nice, and eating out on the patio is a must! The wine is good, the food is amazing and it always seems to be a special occasion when I dine here."

  • "Everything was ok, service was very personal and good which I highly appreciate, but the food (including the "famous" lobster sauce and garlic buns did not knock me off my feet. I was really surprised because this place has like 1500 reviews on Yelp, but I guess it's mostly because it's a neighborhood institution (and note the difference between an institution and a gem...). Those usually don't impress tourists, esp. if they come from NYC where there is plenty of good Italian food...."

  • "I've been eating at C & O Trattoria (and Cucina) for many years. The food is plentiful, and outstanding. Always fresh tasting. My Lobster Linguine had more Lobster in it than I've ever seen in any other restaurant. Had two meals out of it, and day two was as good as day one. The ambiance at C & O is what it is--a place by the beach. Very informal, comfortable, inviting and fun. Only issue, as always, is the parking, usually have to break down and use valet, but it is worth it. It's even better in the summer, when the beachies are walking by, the crowd is younger, and the fun is greater. Highly recommended."

  • "This is my son's favorite restaurant, so we went there by request for his last night before returning to college. We all have out favorite dishes, mine being the gnocchi bolognese, and the hot garlic rolls are always a hit. Our group of 8 were happy we went late enough to join in the sing-a-long at 8 PM, and made the most of it. The specials are always super yummy, however, they are made fresh and do run out. Ask for Malakai - he has been our waiter for years, and he is a service master. A great time was had by all!"

  • "C&O's is one of my favorite spots. The food is great and the portions are enough for two. The challenge is to hold yourself to a reasonable number of quite tasty garlic balls that appear magically at your table throughout the meal. Chianti, music and the singing of C&O's anthem Amore make for a great evening."

  • "Food is excellent garlic knots to die for! Don't miss this place."

  • "I really like this restaurant a lot because of the atmosphere and the waiters coming by to "cheers" you during the "That's Amore" song. It's great for a date, to break the ice, or just to take your friends out for a casual dinner. My friends always enjoy the sing along too. Their garlic knots are insane and comes out so often that it gets you stuffed fast!! Although I have to say, other than the garlic knots, and the tartufo, I have yet to come across any dish here that's "out of this world" amazing... their menu is super extensive, but the food is good at best. Not really great in any sense. I mainly come here for the garlic knots and the atmosphere."

  • "This i my second time eating here. The first time was years ago with friends and this time was with my fiancee. The food was just as delicious as I remembered. The garlic rolls they serve before dinner are addictive and delicious. I could eat them all day, every day. The food portions are huge and the restaurant itself is full of energy. Loved the serve your own Chianti! The service was also great. This is not a quiet restaurant and the quarters are close, so do not expect privacy, but it is fun and delicious and we can't wait to go back!"

  • "Come hungry because they will keep piling those garlic rolls into your table, especially since those row are so damn addicting and good! Our server Clayton was great! He explained the specials and pointed out what was good on the menu for people that have not been there before. Food was good and they also give you huge portions. If you're planning on going in a group, make a reservation or else you won't get seated since it does get crowded and people might take a while to finish all that food."

  • "We love everything from the garlic rolls to the tiramisu. We have used this place for a big group surprise party, delivery for a small crowd, and regular dinners, and it is delicious and fun every time. this time service seemed exceptionally friendly and attentive, from our exuberant servers to the owner(?) who came to say thank you and say hi to our little boy, to the sweet hostess. fantastic, delicious and fun. can't go wrong with c&o!"

  • "Overall, I had a great time at C &O trattoria!. The servers were very friendly and quick in service! Food was delicious! The best part was the garlic knots rolls! Can't eat just one! And the staff singing and toasting when a italian song comes on! Great vibe, great crowd! Would definately come again!"

  • "The food was good, and the garlic knots were plentiful. The atmosphere is kitschy and the outdoor, covered patio where we were seated was cold and cramped. There were several large parties seated all around us so some folks must love this place. I doubt we will return."

  • "This is definitely the place you want to go if you want to have a fun and exiting dinner. From servers who know the menu like the back of their hand to singing along to the music, the ambiance of C&O is extremely authentic and home like. Just remember to not eat too many garlic rolls or you may not be hungry for the main course."

  • "C&O's was one of my fiance's favorite restaurants when she was in college nearby. I had never been until she brought me for the first time several months ago when we came to visit her friends. I loved it the first time and decided that we needed to visit again on our recent trip back to Southern California to visit friends and family. The atmosphere is ideal for many occasions - family fun, romantic dates, or fun groups - and the food is great at an affordable price everybody can be comfortable with. We live out of state, and C&O's makes big group dinners when we visit easier to accomplish."

  • "I hadn't been to this place in almost a decade. And only went because a birthday organized there. It is good for groups, portions large, and relatively affordable. However the chicken piccata was overly salty and my husband's seafood pasta dish was the same. I safely can say I don't ever need to go back."
