Diner Reviews
  • "I took my parents here for my dad's birthday and it was really nice. They both loved their food, while I thought mine was tasty but a little plain (I got the rigatoni tomato cream). The service was very good and our waiter was very attentive but not overly so. The only thing that was a little strange was that I had made a reservation but we were seated right near the entrance and the kitchen. I had hoped to be somewhere more quiet, but that still didn't take away from the overall good time."

  • "We've been coming here for years, originally for our birthdays, no for the kids (they're adults now). Always consistent with generous portions and a reasonable wine list. Service can be spotty depending on when you get seated. Regardless, it's a tradition and we'll go back."

  • "the food was great ... it was our first time...we will be back!"

  • "We were introduced to C&O by our college age son, after hearing about the "garlic balls" for the longest time. Yes, the garlic rolls, delivered fresh and hot every 10 minutes or so to your table, are delicious and lots of fun, but don't fill up on them--you want to have room to savor and enjoy the main dishes! I don't think I have ordered from the menu yet--the specials always sound so good, I end up with one of them. This time my seafood tortellinis were both unusual and very tasty, but the real winner was the filet of sole in an amazing butter and wine sauce that my husband shared with me. For those not into seafood, like our other son, one of the farfalle dishes with chicken from the regular menu was also wonderful. We'll be back!"

  • "I have eaten here several times over the years and find this place consistent. The food is wonderful and ambiance is just the right amount of casual without being to much. The garlic knots are AMAZING and keep coming over and over again. The service was good and consistent. This is some place I like to take visitors and we have never been disappointed."

  • "Garlic knots are always amazing. Lasagna is always good. I had Gnocchi Bolonaise it was good but sauce seemed to taste different than last time I had it. Not as good as last time. Our friends ordered a seafood pasta and a vegetarian lasagna . I don't think the lasagna was what they were expecting."

  • "I went here with my family the night before running the LA marathon to stuff UOmy face with carbs. The garlic knots (free! all you can eat!) are by far one of my favorite things ever. I've been here several times and the food has always been good; portions are big and prices are fair. Service was fast and friendly. Will definitely be going back."

  • "A fabulous neighborhood Gem!!! Excellent service & delicious food. Great for parties, groups with or without kids. Romantic seating and intimate dining for couples looking for the night out as well. Large portions, great to enjoy the next day as a 2nd meal. Excellent house wine and killer garlic rolls!!"

  • "The cioppino I had for lunch was hearty, traditional, and generous in both the size of the bowl and the amount of fresh frutti di mare to be found in the spicy broth. Excellent!"

  • "Great food, good service, unlimited Garlic Knots! Garlic Knots topped it off. The portions are good for at least 2 people. Italian plates are huge! Service was good especially well handled on Valentines Day. They did have a special menu as well. Overall it was a good place to eat for the occasion!"

  • "The food is always excellent. We've been to this establishment plus the one at the pier several times and have never experienced anything but the best food and service. Enrique was, as always, very attentive and responsive."

  • "My girlfriend and I came here for a special dinner. The place is a bit dark, I'm not sure if they purposely made it like that, but that turns out to be more romantic. The food is awesome, I got Linguini with Clams ($16) while my girlfriend got Linguini with Lobster ($19). I like her food better though. It's a bit pricey, but the food is really good. We usually got Calamari Fritti for desert, but this time we wanted to enjoy our pasta. Even that we still couldn't finish it and had brought it home. Overall, very nice if you like real Italian food, not the American adaptation."

  • "I love C & O but this was my worst experience there so far. Despite making a reservation, we had to wait, and then we were seated in a back room in a corner, perhaps because we had a baby with us. Then it seemed like we were forgotten and had to wait a while to get service."

  • "Though the service from the waiters I had were actually quite good, I definitely did not enjoy the experience I got after reserving a table. I arrive and they barely could find my name on their list and when they did, they just left me there and forgot about my reservation. When later asked again, I was told, "You're the one without a reservation right?" Needless to say, they wanted to sit me in not a nice table when I requested. Why else would you get a reservation if you don't want a nice table? If I wanted a bad place to sit, I would have not made a reservation like another party who arrived before me and sat before me. Though the seating service wasn't fun, the food was awesome as always. Garlic rolls are to die for. Still returning."

  • "You can always count on C&O Cucina for yummy food...just be careful with the never ending garlic rolls they serve at the beginning because they fill you up. Food is 'comforting', one gets the feeling of being at a grandma's house somewhere. Ambience could be a bit dark though...this won't stop me from coming back though, since it's my sister's favorite spot."

  • "My wife and I enjoy every meal at this neighborhood gem. Our most recent visit was just as satisfying; in fact, we thought the food was even better."

  • "I've been to C&O plenty times in the past and I've always received excellent service. The food is excellent, especially the spaghetti and the ravioli. This time I ordered the salmon. It was very good and flavorful, but unfortunately a bit dry. Very excellent dining experience. I will definitely be back for the pasta dishes. Also, I live the garlic bread...amazing."

  • "Thank goodness for Open Table - had a last minute family dinner to arrange and we were not disappointed in C&O Cucina. Food was very good - classic Italian and delicious, though I won't say necessarily a good place for health nuts ... tons of butter and fat and salt ... YUM!"

  • "Accomodated a party of 7 on 15 minutes notice, an we were immediately seated. Informed the waiter we were in a time crunch, and they took orders, brought food, kept drinks filled, and processed our check at the end all with graciousness and efficiency. We were walking out the door 45 minutes later, fully satisfied."

  • "We have been several times and it is consistently excellent. The food is fantastic. Everything we have ordered there has been very good. Everything on the menu is excellent."

  • "The tortellini special was bland! I could have done better by going to Whole Foods "hot bar" and I would have even spent half!! My friend got the lasagne and it didn't even look like lasagne--she sent it back for a salad after taking a bite! Just awful. Not real Italian by any stretch!!!!! Basically if you think Dominoes makes great pizza you will love this place!"

  • "Great food...big portions and reasonable!! Every time we visit we eat here. The veal is really good and the ambiance is wonderful!"

  • "We eat here mostly for special occasions. It's always good and we tend to get the same thing all the time but this time we tried some new things. The fish special with orzo and broccoli was great! Also the salmon, shrimp & scallops dish was a hit! I had the farfalle with eggplant, tomatoes and smoked mozzarella cream sauce and added shrimp...delicious! Even the spaghetti and meatballs are great! But by far the the garlic knots are the best and they are constantly replenished at your table warm and amazing!"

  • "We had a wonderful New Years Eve dinner. My husband had the lasagna which is a huge portion and I had the grilled shrimp with spinach fettucinni and mixed veggies. I am always impressed with the outstanding service. The waitress arrived right away to take our order, we received our drinks quickly, the yummy garlic rolls arrived at our table promptly, and our dinners arrived shortly after that. A wonderful experience!"

  • "Typical Italian restaurant. Food was good, not great. The main course was tasty, grilled salmon, but all the sides were cold, veges and potatoes."

  • "Food was good. The gargantuan size is huge! It can defintely be shared among four people. Wouldn't recommend getting it only for two unless you're ridiculously hungry. The highlight was the garlic knots. Very delicious. Would recommend getting the marinara sauce with them. We actually sat in the bar area on a Monday night. It was a great atmosphere and very quiet. I'm pretty sure the bartender was the server. He was very friendly and made great recommendations. He knew his menu very well. Would recommend!"
