  • "Byrsa is steadily becoming one of our real Chester County favorites. Wonderful eclectic Mediterranean-based menu, great food and friendly service. Branzino and the cassoulet we had the other evening were outstanding. Keeps getting better!"

  • "Bursa Bistro is consistently good every time we go. Very friendly wait staff and great food with middle eastern influences. It is a BYOB restaurant which we prefer. This visit we had a Middle East sampler with baba ghanoush, stuffed grape leaves, and mushrooms and eggplant. Always a great light starter. I went for the short ribs and my wife the grilled salmon. Both cooked perfectly. Great Kennett Square neighborhood find."

  • "Our first visit despite living in the area. We both agreed that not coming here before had been a major oversight. It's a really excellent restaurant and we are planning many more visits. Excellent food, impeccable service. Intimate and somewhat small, but a restaurant not to be missed."

  • "The use of spices made the food exotic. Everything was fresh and delicious. The seafood was sweet and perfectly cooked. Can't wait to go back. Truly a neighborhood gem."

  • "The food at Byrsa Bistro is alive with flavor. We always have several choices from the menu, it is hard to decide. The portions are generous, and the service attentive. We always leave completely satisfied and looking forward to returning."

  • "We had a great meal here and I would highly recommend. The lamb shank was delicious--really favorable, with great sides and a terrific sauce. The bread that comes with the meal is delicious. The vegetable combination was also good but could have used a little more seasoning. The restaurant is BYOB, and they did a nice job opening the bottle and serving for no fee at all. The sale with fig and nuts was also very good, and the breme brûlée was very smooth. The waiters were a little funny--there reply to everything was "no problem"--but they were attentive without being overbearing. I would definitely go back if I am in the area."

  • "This was a second visit, and both meals were wonderful. The staff is very attentive despite being busy. I think the menu and its execution have been very carefully planned - the flavors are beautifully blended and complex. No element in the food is "just there" - everything contributes to the whole."

  • "Byrsa Bistro in Kennett Square, PA is a real treat! For a special lunch with friends, it was perfect before heading to Longwood Gardens, which is minutes away. The mushroom soup is superb and the salads were excellent. I highly recommend the food. The service was excellent, the staff very gracious and helpful. The decor is lovely too."

  • "We have really come to love Byrsa Bistro and each experience is unique, whether it is the food, the conversations or sharing wine with some good friends. We love the fact that it is a BYOB, the menu is updated routinely and we always have an interesting conversation with the owner. On many nights, he has pulled up a chair to share a glass of wine or introduce us to other interesting patrons. We have met some great folks in this super friendly atmosphere, with discussions on wine, travel and art. For the high quality of food, the prices can't be beat and the staff are super attentive. We have introduced Byrsa Bistro to many friends and they have returned more than once. It is just that good!"

  • "Had walked in for lunch one day recently and thought it would be good to try for dinner. Initially we were rather surprised at the prices, however, once we tasted our chosen entrees, we were delighted. I had the Paella and thought it delicious. The sauce was dense, and cooked perfectly. Rather a lot of mussels compared to the chicken and shrimp. My husband tasted it and said it was too intense on the smokey ham flavor for him. He ordered Scallops and risotto which was wonderful! I'll take that next time. Staff very accommodating and opened our bottle of wine (which we brought) only for us to find it was bad!! We will go again!"

My guests had cassolette , another the duck and lastly seafood stew..We shared pear confit and chocolate mousse for dessert..it is a BYOB that makes it even better! A gem in the heart of Kennett Square."

  • "Took friends with us & it is always a great evening when you see the pure enjoyment on their faces for an outstanding meal. We had the Mediterranean appetizer & the special parsnip soup. Both were full of flavor & the variety gave your taste buds a delight of flavors. Main courses were the salmon, the lamb shank & the special ribeye of the night. All were beautifully presented, exquisitely spiced & cooked to perfection. Never have had a bad meal & the waitstaff treat you like you are dining in their home-- friendly , attentive but not overly & never rush you. Definitely a must dining experience. The chefs will give you a truly gourmet experience."

  • "We visited Byrsa for the first time and had an outstanding meal. The mushroom soup was the best I have ever had. The Brazina fish was delicious but the sides served with it were from another planet---incredible. I can not wait to go back and try more things on the menu! Loved this place!"

  • "Wife and I went for Valentine's Day. Restaurant itself = aesthetically pleasing. Service and price were HUGE turn offs and are what will deter my wife and I to dine at this restaurant again in the future. Had 8pm reservation, arrived 10 minutes earlier to find that other gusts with a 7:30 and 7:45 reservation were still waiting to be seated. This is in addition to the 5 or 6 additional tables of 8pm reservations. Restaurant's "justification" was "we can't kick people out and expect them to eat faster than expected.” Main server = unattentive, very slow and not apologetic during long delays between courses. VD special = 4 course meal @ $60/ person. Pricing seemed out of line with the normal pricing at restaurant. Surprised to pay this much."

  • "It was a great fit for a new place on Valentines day. And being abyob makes it even more affordable."

  • "Valentine's Day, 6:30: 4 courses but only one appetizer per couple? Seafood stew appetizer: saltiest dish ever, only had one piece of bread and one shrimp. My mushroom soup: excellent. We got our entrees at 8:30. My wife was happy with her scallops. My cassoulet was also good, several sausages, lots of beans with some bits of shredded meat in a tasty sauce, and a piece of what looked like duck. My flan was good, and my wife enjoyed the chocolate mousse. I had the rest of the cassoulet for lunch the next day, but looking at the menu online it said 'Lamb Shank, Chicken, Duck, Lamb Sausage, Duck Leg Confit'. Uh, no lamb shank or chicken in mine. For $60/person I expected MUCH better. Will not be going back and not recommending to friends."

  • "Most importantly, the food at Byrsa was absolutely incredible! For Valentine's Day, we had a 4 course meal and each course was better than the next. The food was SO GOOD! Unfortunately, we waited almost an hour to be seated with a reservation. The hostess was not checking people in (who had reservations) and was asking who came in next. There were about 15-20 people waiting in the small entrance area for a long time. Apparently, they underestimated how long Valentine's diners would stay. It would have been very nice if the owner came out and apologized and offered a free appetizer or dessert due to the incredibly long wait. We will give it another try, but only on a night that we have a long time to wait!"

  • "Whenever we want a great night of dining, we think of Byrsa Bistro. The staff is very welcoming, and the food is outstanding. We love the intimate atmosphere. Service was a little slow this time, but it was Valentine's Day, and so it was very busy. A local gem ! Highly recommended."

  • "The owner is originally from Tunisia and his concept is to feature the best that each Mediterranean culture (Italian, Turkish, Morrocan etc.) offers. And the execution was excellent. It is a byob, which we enjoy, and although we brought champagne to celebrate our anniversary, it will be fun to pair the wine with the dinner next time. Owner was there and very knowledgeable. Also a nice guy."

  • "This was our second visit. This time we brought friends. They were as impressed as we had been. The Mushroom flatbread was so good I had to begin with it as I had on our first visit. My wife enjoyed the Chestnut and Turnip soup du jour. My Crispy Skin Duck Breast was outstanding and the scallops were declared perfect by one of our guests. We will all be back!"

  • "First time trying Byrsa. Enjoyed it very much. Small menu selection, but offerings were very good. The Polenta had a few too many mussels and too few clams but flavor made up for the lack of them. Service was perfect. Always there when needed but allowed for a nice comfortable experience. Will definitely go back. Give it a try. You will enjoy."

  • "If you are looking for Mediterranean cuisine with a twist, this is the place for you! The menu options are unique in comparison to standard Mediterranean fare and it was really difficult to choose from the many wonderful selections. I also appreciated very much the use of organic ingredients. Our only disappointment was that they ran out of the baklava, but this is indicative more of popularity in my opinion and a good reason to come back! Be mindful that it is a bit noisy, but I think it more reflected the energetic enthusiasm of diners and staff alike. Will absolutely return again soon to this BYO spot! P.S. Utilize the free parking in the garage across the street!"

  • "We were looking to try something new when finding ourselves out near Kennett Square this past Saturday. We'd made an Open Table reservation but when we got there they said there had been a problem and they were overbooked. However, they made room for my wife and son and me without complaining. The owner took care of us throughout the evening and we really enjoyed the Paella and Branzino. Will definitely return to try more on the menu next time we're in the area."

  • "The restaurant is BYOB & we wanted something new & low cost. The menu looks wonderful & different. Food was good, but after we shared an appetizer, each had soup & salad our total bill was still pricey. We probably could have gone somewhere else with drinks included and a main course for the same price. Overall, I will go back to try a main dish some other time."

  • "I wasn't sure if I could dine at a Mediterranean restaurant with an allergy to onions & garlic; however, upon inquiring I was assured that every dish is made to order. The wait staff was helpful in customizing my dish. It was delicious! My boyfriend and I enjoyed our evening at Byrsa Bistro! Keep in mind - it's BYOB."

  • "Byrsa just keeps getting better and has quite quickly become a favorite of ours. Their Mediterranean-inspired menu is terrific with many great choices and the service is prompt and friendly. I had the Moroccan bastilla, which is almost a meal in itself, as an appetizer, followed by a wonderful Toulouse Cassoulet - a perfect dish for a winter's evening. My wife gave me a taste of her butternut squash soup and it was so good, I almost ordered some for myself. Spectacular flavor. Her entree was scallops risotto which was topped with crab meat in a portion that provided her with lunch the next day. Regretfully, there was no room for dessert."

  • "We chose Byrsa for our 'sisters night.' We enjoyed our flatbread appetizer with flavorful balsamic drizzle. My entree was a delicious duck dish with apples and accompanied by a unique orange risotto which created a fabulous blend of flavors. My sister enjoyed her scallops dish - cooked perfectly with a nice sear on the outside and just the right doneness. Her risotto was also good, but both of us particularly liked the orange version with my dish. We were appreciative of the BYOB to manage costs. Our servers were all very friendly and were trying to work together, but occasionally their timing was off. We'd see two close together then be 'forgotten' for a little while at our corner table. Overall we'd recommend/come back for the food!"

  • "Byrsa Bistro is a gem of a restaurant - small, charming, delicious and friendly. The food is absolutely first rate - well prepared and presented, as good as any Center City Philadelphia Restaurant. Kennet Square is the mushroom capital of the US and we had a mushroom soup made from 4 types of local mushroom that was fantastic. The bronzino entree was also yummy as were the scallops and corn risotto. We were too full for dessert but the waitress brought us complimentary baklava anyway as we were first time customers and she wanted us to try it. The owner was solicitous and friendly and al the staff were lovely. Overall the experience of dining at Byrsa was just wonderful!"
