Bymark is Mark McEwan's (of North 44) new venture. The concourse level accommodates the Main Dining with three private rooms, each with a 14 guest capacity. Bymark's menu demonstrates a contemporary touch with a core of classic cuisine.

  • "I always enjoy Bymark and I head there whenever I have a craving for the lobster poutine. I also had the duck confit, which was great and followed with a honey bourbon safe creme brulee. We brought our 5 year old son, and they were more than accommodating in getting hime what he wanted... penne pasta and a lobster tail. My wife had the chicken and enjoyed it. Bymark is a very solid and consistent restaurant for the family, groups and couples."

  • "My husband & I were there for dinner last Saturday. The restaurant was 1/2 full - lively but not too noisy. Our server was knowledgable and friendly. She was attentive - we never had to wait when we required anything further. We had the Lobster Poutine as a starter. It lived up to the hype! The fries were perfectly cooked & they were very generous with the lobster portion. My husband had the burger - he said it was one of the best he has ever had. I had the fettuccini with braised rabbit. It was good, but nothing special. The highlight for me was the chocolate & roasted banana torte. In a word - fabulous! On the whole, a wonderful dining experience as expected. We will be back in future."

  • "This was my first time at Bymark. It turned out to be absolutely excellent. In particular, the food was delectable. I had the Sage Chicken ($35) and it was so tender. The sauces and the vegetables were amazing -- my wife kept sneaking a taste of it. I want to go back just to have this again. My wife had the $40 Steak Filet, and it was perfect too. We both felt the food had subtle flavours we might expect in Europe. My wife said this was the best food she's had in Toronto. It was a Friday night and the restaurant was not packed, but there were enough people there to contribute to a good energy. The lights are dimmed a bit and it was quite romantic for celebrating our birthdays. The soft corner seating was quite relaxing. This is a gem."

  • "Went to Bymark on a Saturday night with the wife for a date night. The food was incredible. We had the beet salad, mozzarella salad, the burger, 39oz steak and the ripini. Everything was amazing and delicious. My only negative comment would be that it was a bit of a pain to find after parking. Other then that it was outstanding."

We were impressed that they didn't try to upsell us on wine when we asked for a recommendation--something oddly uncommon these days. The service from the entire team was great.   • "Booked a lunch for 8 people during the last day of Winterlicious. The restaurant wasn't overly busy. The staff was super friendly and the food was amazing (as expected). The only downfall was the amount of time it took to be served. A set Winterlicious menu took two hours to be served from start to finish. We found we were sitting and waiting far too long between courses."

  • "I'm from Halifax and whenever I am in town, I try to get to Bymark. This was my fifth visit and and it never fails to amaze me. The adage "never as good as the first time" does not apply! It was an unfogettable meal. I must confess that I get the Bymark Burger every time. There is a reason why I'm nicknamed Burgerboy, and why this restaurant was recommended to me in the first place. I even had the same waiter as on my last visit. Not something you typically recall, but the service was so remarkable on both occasisons, I remembered. One of the best dining experiences I've ever had!"

  • "Always a good bet for lunch. Service is quick and professional. Wine by the glass has some good options. There is usually at least one portion of the meal that is not executed to perfection though. This time the Risotto was a too stiff and the shrimp tough. My last visit, the bearnaise was overwhelmingly sour. Get the Bymark burger. Always perfection."

  • "Food is always good here, solid meal and great wine selection. I was appalled by the service via this latest visit. Our waitress had a large group to tend to but she 1) did not ask which type of water we wanted and just poured tap water (I wanted sparkling, partly because i had an upset stomach from earlier in the day), 2) our waitress had no knowledge of wine or wine pairing, very bad form for a restaurant to Bymark's caliber. Otherwise, food was very good."

When you are paying $50 for a a la carte Rib Eye steak you would expect a bit more elbow room. The food is good but you're paying for the name and location, not worth $50 a la carte.   • "Our family recently met and enjoyed a fabulous meal at Bymark. From the appetizers through to the desserts, the food was, as expected, delicious. The portions were fair. The wine list interesting and plenty of options. Our only observation was that our server wasn't overly gracious - she was not as refined as you would expect in this caliber of restaurant. My father-in-law asked repeatedly for something… Also, the servers reached directly across other people's plates when serving - a definite no-no in my books. Lastly, it is really simple to keep people happy - deliver on your promises and anticipate our needs. As a non-drinker not enjoying wine, it would have been nice if she noticed my empty glass…"

  • "Wanted to find an elegant fine dining location in the Toronto financial district and Yelp pointed us to Bymark. The ultra modern decor and underground location of the dining room make for a very intimate feel. The restaurant is reknown for its steaks so I could not resist the bacon wrapped bison steak on special offer and my date enjoyed the duck confit. The sides come in half/full size so the half size of french green beans and garlic whipped potatoes. The list of cocktails was great - the Hot Toddy came in handy on a cold night. The special part was how the staff collaborated as I executed my secret plan to propose to my girlfriend at dinner that night - the dessert & ring came with a chocolate message and champagne soon followed. Amazing"

  • "I hosted a party of 6 for a business lunch recently. The restaurant is well located, nicely decorated & very conducive for a biz lunch thanks to decent acoustics. The service was solid & attentive. The entres were well presented & delicious. The only dinger was an appetizier special, a white truffle pappardelle. It was very expensive ($40) & very bland, Those that ordered it tried to add some zest to it with salt & pepper. But for that price it should have been tastier.This contributed to a pretty expensive lunch tab especially considering there was no booze at this biz lunch."

The sea bass was cooked to perfection, and the ravioli Bolognese was fantastic...the béchamel sauce with the hint of lemon put it over the top. However, the deserts were the real star, with the tiny doughnuts, filled with Dulce de leche and served with a pistachio praline and warm chocolate sauce...insane!"

The meal was more expensive than a typical restaurant, but it we were happy to pay that amount and have a spectacular meal as opposed to 25% less and have a "good" meal. They had "Goldilocks" service: not too much, not too little, but just right. We were perfectly cared for."

  • "I hadn't been to Bymark in a few years but will definitely be back. The food was outstanding. My friend and I both loved our lunches. She had the steak, which she said was cooked to perfection and had the perfect crust. I had the chicken and it was the best chicken I had in years (I forgot how good it was). The flavour was infused throughout and it was extremely tender. The service and atmosphere are good as well, you forget you're underground once you've made it into the restaurant."
