Butterfly, The Embarcaderogreat food and service!We are regulars here now, because the staff is always engaging and helpful, and the dishes are quite inventive with great presentation. Our last meal we had the ribs and the shrimp/mango and pulled pork lettuce cup appetizers. All were superb. It's really a great spot. The meal started off with an assortment of appetizers that were fabulous. I thoroughly enjoyed the scallop entree. The banana bread pudding is a must! The courses were well paced. We were greeted with a smile, which continued throughout the meal from different servers. This was a special menu for Mothers Day and was superb in presentation and taste.

We get a bunch of appetizers every time, and are always well satisfied.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent Execution, Generous SizeButterfly is located on the Cruise Ship Pier and as such, the waterfront dining can be dominated by the ship at port and the entertainment of watching a large cruise ship back out into the Bay. Notably spacious inside and around the table, we had no problem seating and maneuvering our large party. However, it is extremely loud.
The food was exceptional. What appeared as a ho hum asian inspired menu was much more creatively presented and executed. The portions were generous, even for the appetizers so if "small" plates makes a meal for you, this is ample!
The service was excellent, however, sometimes a bit too helfpul as we were perfectly capable of deboning a whole fish and lychee's were just up our alley.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMOur favorite place!We come here to celebrate everything! The Happy hour lasts from 3pm to 7pm and since the appetizers are wonderful - they are even better at a discount.
The chef/owner is clearly engaged as he has made the rounds of the tables to inquire about the food and our well-being each time we have been there. We have introduced many of our friends to Butterfly and they continue to return also. The waiter and hostess made sure we received attention so that we could order from the great happy hour menu. Great drinks and appetizers. We then order from the fixed menu that is advertised on the website. Great bargain and great food. The wine by the glass was limited but very diverse. We had a good window spot in the corner but the harbor view was not good and the noise level not dampened. However, the people are really accommodating, professional and very friendly, and the food excellent. Selection of food and beverages, wine etc. appropriate. We still had a great time, just had to shout across the table to be understood in our colloquialisms.

We so enjoyed the Kalua pig in Butter Lettuce Cups and Duck Confit Spring Rolls to start. My Curry Spiced Diver Scallops were perfection. We recently saw it on the PBS show "Check Please." The diners couldn't say enough good things about it, so we decided to give it a try. The food was excellent as well as the drink specials. The atmosphere is great also. We were there on a Wednesday night during happy hour. I think my only complaint is that we were not offered the happy hour menu or told about the 3-Course special. Luckily, I checked out the website before we went so I asked for it. The happy hour items (which are also on the regular menu) were much cheaper. Our waitress was an excellent server with the exception of not really being knowledgeable of the menu however she made up for it by being incredibly attentive, gracious and super sweet!
