  • "I reserved a party of 12 but ended up with 8. I confirmed the res twice to be sure we got a round table. We did. I have not had better service in all of Long Island and New York and I go out to eat 4x/week. Originally we planned for Bryant and Cooper but they were all booked by Tues when I called for the Sat res. Oh well, we ended up at a better place! The seafood plateau (we ordered both hot and cold for 4) was phenomenal. I want to go back for that alone! The meals were piping hot and the service was PERFECT ... I definitely recommend it for a big party OR for a small intimate dinner - we sat in the not main dining room and it was wonderful. There are many overpriced steak houses, but Burton and Doyle is priced right! GO!!!"

  • "The finest sushi and freshest fish are paired with over the top steaks to make this a most versatile eatery. Lump crabmeat cocktail is a meal in itself as are the other shellfish offerings. Aside for perfectly done steaks, the sesame encrusted tuna, salmon and lobsters all shine. This place can get noisy, energetic and crowded at times, but the service is almost always attentive and professional. One of the best, if not the best of the steak row spots on the strip along the north shore. Not cheap but well worth it."

  • "Overall the food, service and ambiance was great. Good, quality food, prepared with excellent presentation. Good wine selection. The ambiance is quiet, cozy and clean. Candlelit tables. For those who don't want to miss the game, there's a wrap around bar in the center of the restaurant with overhead televisions (without the typical loud crowd). We had our wedding reception there eight years ago and return (to eat) for our anniversary each year. The waiter remembered us. He was very polite and professional. It was wonderful. Valet parking was a nice touch to this classy restaurant."

  • "This place has a really nice steakhouse ambiance and the service was nearly excellent. My husband got the big fillet and it was perfect and tender, while I got the tuna with bok choy and it was fabulous. The only misses were the asparagus which was tasteless, the ceasar salad that wasn't very fresh, and the (I think) homemade steak sauce that tasted like dressed up tartar sauce. Brownie dessert with 2 scoops of ice cream was passable, but the brownie was a bit dry. We'll be back, but next time we'll try the mashed potatoes."

  • "Food was quite good and portion was very big enough to bring home Was however not thrilled about where we were seated as it was right next to Bar and environment there was not what anticipated for that evening, we had no privacy and the surrounding was very loud I would certainly revisit but would request stable away from Bar."

The food was very good; however the best service experience was with the Valet, both of whom were polite, courteous and provided excellent service. Restaurant Wait staff was almost dismissive, certainly not solicitous. This total lack of interest could not be overcome, even by the very good food."

  • "Burton and Doyle's exceeded my expectations. I often frequent the steakhouses on the North Shore of Long Island but never had the chance to eat at Burton and Doyle until recently. The seafood tower for 4 is one of the best platters I have seen in a while and everything was super fresh. We had the porterhouse steak for 4 which was cooked perfectly. I highly recommend this restaurant but be prepared for the heft price tag."

  • "Restaurants that offer specialty desserts that 20+ minutes to prepare typically tell you when you put your meal order in. Our server did not pre-warn us. My filet mignon was also overcooked. At this price point, I would except that my steak is cooked as I had requested. I will not be returning to this restaurant. Plenty of other steakhouse options nearby."

  • "Grilled to perfection, steaks, lamb chops, etc. Beautiful restaurant, attentive, professional staff. Excellent sides. Top choice for a perfectly cooked, top notch steak. Reasonably priced wine list. Excellent bar scene. I have dined at Burton & Doyle several times when I visited the are, and would go out of my way to dine with my wife, family and friends. Well worth the trip. MVC"

  • "We were seated in a back room that was cold and drafty. It took 30 minutes to get our drinks, and they were out of their fantastic bread rolls and brought plain sliced white bread in a basket instead. Our meal took another hour and it was difficult to get any attention from waiters for water refills or anything else. While the steak itself was good, the overall experience was very disappointing for the price we paid for the meal. Since there are so many high end steakhouses in the area, we will be going somewhere else next time."

  • "Everything was fine EXCEPT...we had two birthdays Saturday night and I ordered two cake desserts with birthday candles. The desserts came about twenty minutes after the coffee even though I requested that they be brought together. I had to ask twice "where are the desserts"? This should not happen. Even if you are busy, I am still a customer and deserve service. When I asked for my check it came within 10 seconds."

  • "Upon arrival found the hostess to be kind and attentive. We were seated promptly according to our reservation. Wait staff was courteous and knowledgable of the menu and wine list yet some how seemed awkward.?.? Had the lobster rolls which were great and tuna tartar also great. Also three steaks were ordered, all three came out cooked more than requested. Spare tilt medium in this restaurant is well done... Have eaten at other northern blvd steak houses and will dine there again before returning to burton and Doyle. Overall for the manhattan prices, not worth it."

  • "We were completely rushed through dinner even though there were many open tables. The waiters had no idea who ordered which meal. The food was mediocre at best. When we went to get our coats, they had lost my husband's coat. The management could have cared less that they lost the coat. The restaurant found the coat the next day. When we went to retrieve the coat the gloves were missing. The restaurant said they would pay for the gloves. My husband bought new gloves and tried to get reimbursement from the restaurant. They completely refused to pay for the gloves. Burton & Doyle has a coat check # system. They should not have lost my husband's coat and gloves. They should replace the gloves. We would never recommend this restaurant to anyone."

  • "My wife, her sons and I decided to have Christmas Dinner at B&D. My wife and I had eaten there before and we not only enjoyed the food, but also the ambiance and cordiality. We were somewhat disappointed. We ate in the floor level dining room rather then on the upstairs level where we usually eat. The ambiance was rather bland as was the interaction of the staff. Apparently the increased business on this day took away some of the charm of the restaurant. Even several items on the menu were not available because they required additional time to prepare."

  • "went here for a ladie's holiday lunch and everything about the order was mixed up for everyone. I ordered a lobster roll sandwich with fries and got a sushi lobster roll (why would I have wanted fries if that was my order?), my friend order a cheese burger but got just the plain burger, another friend order a salad with her French dip sandwich and got the dressing on the plate but it came with fries and no salad. the waiter was very nice to fix all the issues but how does everyone at the table's order get messed up?"

  • "My brother and I sat at the bar and ordered a beer each. They were out of Stella Artois. No big deal. My brother ordered a Coors Light on tap and I ordered a Bloom Moon. Both beers were bad(skunky). My brother sent back the Coors and informed the bartender. He then tried the Blue Moon and was equally disappointed. We sat down to eat and I then ordered a Guinness. The bartender had no idea what he was doing. he served it in a glass normally used for craft beers and it had a huge head. The pour was awful. Ten minutes for the head to minimize. By that time the glass was only 3/4 full. I ordered the Filet Mignon medium. It was served well done and was tasteless except for the carbon crusted perimeter which tasted just like it sounds."

  • "Burton & Doyle is a steak house: that's what they do best. They have fish selections, too, which I'm sure are excellent--but really, it's a place to go if you like beef, and lots of it. The sides are enormous--enough for two at least. I almost never have an appetizer, as I know the steak will be more than I can eat (I get the rib-eye, which is Fred Flintstone sized), but this time I got the shrimp cocktail--and the shrimp were huge and firm and filled with flavor. The tables are a little too close together for my taste (even the wait staff sometimes have a hard time navigating the narrow spaces in between), but the noise level allows for conversation, not shouting. It's a favorite place for special occasions--this year, Thanksgiving"

  • "My husband and I went with another couple recently. My petite filet was cooked absolutely perfect and was delicious, however, it seemed rather large for a petite filet. Everyone else had shared a porterhouse and enjoyed that very much. The oysters were very good, too. The only item I found to be disappointing we're the truffle fries. Not enough truffle flavor. Otherwise, a very good dinner and a great place for steak."

  • "Steaks on par with the best. I personally enjoyed the experience because of the above average service. Suggestionto mmanagement to consider testing the market for more variety of oysters. Perhaps reach out to Aquagrille for better purchasing leverage and expertise. Clients appreciation efforts may be superior and more cost effective advertising and garner an advantage in the competitive steak restaurant business. Thank you. Final comment is that the staff should flag special events. In my reservation I mentioned that it was wife's birthday. Apparently this important fact was overlooked."

  • "Went out for dinner with friends. They were shocked by the prices. I ordered a glass of Merlot wine. I was unaware that the waiter selected a glass of wine that was 27.00 when I saw the bill. I didn't argue. One filet mignon was returned because it was too dry. We will never eat there again. This is my first negative review of a restaurant"

  • "I have been to this restaurant in the past but it has been a few years. I took my nephew who loves to try new steakhouses. He rated this in his top three. The service was unbelievable; friendly, informative, solicitous in a good way. Our water glasses were filled on a regular basis. My nephew's rib eye was unbelievable; perfectly cooked. I was not in the mood for steak and It was suggested that I try the chilean sea bass. So many times in a steakhouse, the fish is not cooked properly; not in this case; moist and flaky; delicious. The sides were also very good; a very nice malbec for a reasonable price. A wonderful experience and I plan on returning soon."

  • "Been to B&D before but it had been a while. One thing that put me off was they did not list the size/weight of the various steaks, so they don't have to adhere to size standards. Bread -- put the basket on the table, don't dole it out piece by piece. When we each order shrimp cocktail,we don't want a giant bowl of crushed ice with all the shrimp embedded so long it affected the texture - never mind the fact that they were on the small side. Chateau Briand for 2 was perfect - tender, delicious, sides were also perfect. We ordered one dessert to take home. Service was weak. One drink each - a martini for hubby $13. A pomegranate martini for me $17. Are you serious? Did everyone read that $17 for a DRINK?! I'm done."

  • "We celebrated my son's birthday with our whole family, including his 3year old and 5 week old sons. The staff was very solicitous and kindly. The steaks were cooked perfectly, and the side dishes were delicious. It was a wonderful experience. We will be celebrating there more often."
