Diner Reviews
  • "The food and drinks were prepared perfectly, and the service was excellent. I hadn't been to Bullfinch's in 15 years or more, and I was pleased that it is as good as it was way back then, if not better!"

  • "The food was outstanding- unusually generous portions for such an upscale menu. Presentation top-notch. Staff is very pleasant and helpful; unfortunately, it seemed as though they were stretched a little thin. Might just have been that one night- would not keep us from going again, and we plan to recommend it highly to friends!"

  • "Great atmosphere with comfortable ambience. 2/3 entree selections were outstanding. Salmon tower appetizer perfect to share."

  • "Food is always good. Maybe our waitress had an off day, but kinda left us on a sour note. She didn't even thank us."
    Dined on 4/2/2014
  • "We just love the brunch menu. The only disappointment was the hash which was a special that day. It was just OK and definitely not the beef tenderloin cut as advertised. It was a brisket cut."

  • "We went to celebrate a birthday, had a great time. Food was good, our server was very attentive and friendly! Restaurant is beautiful and romantic. Would definitely recommend!"

  • "We have been to Bullfinch's many times over many years, and have always greatly enjoyed everything about the experience. This time, to our great surprise, the food was much better than before. We didn't think that was possible! It's not likely that you will go only once to Bullfinch's. Once you experience it, you will have to return."

  • "Went here for the first time to celebrate a family birthday. It was perfect in every way!"

  • "Always enjoy Bullfinchs! Table was ready on time, waitress was fantastic, food delicious! I just don't know why we don't go there more often. Always a great experience."

  • "A little too noisy at first, with a large group beside us; but when they left it was better. Very good food and a nice atmosphere."

  • "My wife and I enjoyed a very nice meal. Our server was excellent. Helpful and on top of things without rushing us. I enjoyed the crispy duck special and my wife thought the Pecan Chicken was very good. The menu allows you to pick small or large portions of many items and my wife ordered a small portion which she said was more than enough for her. We'll be back."

  • "We were surprised with Irish step dancers, who were delightful and added a lot to the wonderful St. Pat's Day experience that night."

  • "We LOVE Bulfinches. The service/food/entertainment/friendliness...just can't be beat. We especially like "NeverSayNever" jazz combo!! This is our 'celebration' place for the Greenberg Family. Where else can you take a group with an age range of 12 to 93 and ensure everyone's satisfaction. We will come back...we always do! Thanks, Bulfinch's!!! Dr and Mrs. L. Greenberg PS: Just tried the brunch item of potato pancakes topped with lox and sour cream! Yumm! And don't miss the excellent coffee cake appetizer brought to the table with other muffins, etc. We each have our favorite items on the menu. PPS: The bar makes wonderful drinks, too."

  • "My wife and I went here for dinner with another couple. This is an established restaurant, but we had only been here for their famous brunch in the past few years and had not had dinner for quite a long time. Too bad we waited so long, because everything about our meal, from salad through dessert was very good. Three of us had the Pecan Chicken dinner with our fourth selecting the Harvest Chicken. All were served hot and were very good portions (a very nice feature here is that most entrees are available in full or half portions). After a few bites we all gave our meals an emphatic thumbs up! We finished with desserts; lemon tart, fresh fruit sorbet a wonderful bread pudding. We were 4 very happy diners and agreed we will be back soon."

  • "It had been many years since we had been here, and had fond memories of great food and ambience. Even had a New Year's Dinner there one year that was outstanding and very memorable. The menu now is very limited. Maybe it always was, we can't remember. The biggest disappointment was the Grilled Sirloin for $33..... Ouch! The steak was not worth it at all. Nothing special. Came with french fries and that was it. On the other hand, the Smoked Salmon Napoleon was outstanding. It was loaded with Smoked Salmon and was delicious. The potato pancake that came with it however wasn't quite as good as I was hoping, but I still wished there was at least one more. Maybe because it was served cold. Maybe warmed slightly it would have tasted better."

  • "I have been to Bullfinchs for many various occasions, from cocktails/h'odourves, jazz brunch, Monday special menu night, anniversaries and birthday celebrations. Been there with my family and on many occasions to to meet up with freinds in the evening for dinner or just drinks..Service is outstanding, as well as atmosphere. Food presentation, taste and variety of various options outstanding as well. In the summer months, one can dine on their outside patio, or have drinks outside in casual setting with comfortable chairs and cocktails tables."

  • "Went with my wife in the Fall for the first time and it was great. Returned when my parents were in town last week and again had a wonderful meal. Several good options on the menu. Every course and every plate was delicious."

  • "My wife and I love Bullfinchs; we have been going there for years and we always have a great experience. It easily rivals any restaurant in Boston; particularly when you add in value and parking. If I was going to give any criticism it is that the seating plan could use a redesign."

  • "On what turned out to be a difficult day, the birthday dinner at Bullfinches was a memorable occasion. From the ballon on the table to the cake, my wife was made to feel special. Appetizers - smoked salmon napoleon and calamari - were good, but the main course was outstanding , filet mignon and blue for my wife and cod loin for me in a special sauce - not the menu item. We had a great night."

  • "Not many choices on menu for steak lovers. The Black and Blue was horrible! My wife liked the Pecan Chicken though. Put in a dark corner and the table was not ready when we arrived. One piece of bread/bun. Will not be back."

  • "We met our kids and granddaughters (aged 11 mos and 6 yrs) for Sunday brunch. Food, service and atmosphere were all outstanding. The music was pleasant, not obtrusive. The restaurant was very welcoming for all ages. Prices were reasonable. This was our first time at Bullfinches. We look forward to returning."

  • "Went there for a late brunch for our anniversary. Made reservations for six and were seated within minutes of our reservation. Food and service were excellent. I was dressed up; the kids wore jeans. There was a jazz trio playing, which was a nice touch. Highly recommended for brunch."

  • "We went for dinner on a Friday night (reservations recommended). We mentioned that it was our daughter's birthday and they brought out a huge balloon with confetti and treated her to a dessert. The food was really good but a bit on the salty side. This is a very family friend restaurant with adult ambience...the best of both worlds. Also good for a romantic dinner for 2."

  • "Love the ambiance and service at Bullfinches - had a lovely table and a super server. If you order wine by the glass you may think prices are high, but they give you a large portion here. Appetizers were OK but not special. Duckling was delicious with crispy skin and tender meat, but the rice and sauce were ordinary. A good but not great meal."

  • "Had not visited Bullfinch in a while but we were very positively surprised. The food was fantastic and the service was superb. The waiter talked us into a cheaper but excellent wine than what we had initially selected. We particularly like that entrees came in two sizes. The smaller size was perfect for us. It was my wife's birthday and she was presented with a brownie/ice cream dish and a nice gift card towards our next visit. We will definitely be back soon. We look forward to trying the Sunday Jazz brunch. Highly recommended."

  • "Great Sunday Brunch! And after informing them of my wife's birthday in the reservation, the table was decorated upon arrival with a big red balloon ... she felt appropriately special."

  • "Food is always awesome at Bullfinches. We have never had anything we didn't like. he menu choices are great. The ambiance is hampered by the proximity of tables and ours along with others were off balance so it kept "rocking" and our waitress had to shim it a couple of times. =)"

  • "Food was good bordering great , however wait staff were less than attentive."

  • "Waitress was pleasant but totally forgot my entree. Watched my wife finish her meal as I patentiently waited for mine. No follow-up by the waitress after my wife's meal was served. Not quite sure how you miss an entree."

  • "This was one of the best dining experiences we've had in a long time! Love this place and the people who run the show are magnificent. Thanks."

  • "We hadn't been here in around 10 years and decided to give it a try. We were offered a table as soon as we arrived but it was by the door and we decided to wait for something else. The table we got was so close to the next table that it was impossible not to be distracted by their conversation. The noise level seemed to grow as the night progressed and by the time we finished our meal we couldn't wait to leave. Also-we asked the waiter if a beet salad was big enough to share, and he assured us it was. The salad was split for us and we were each presented with 3 pieces of beet about the size of a nickel, and a few pieces of lettuce. The whole salad was hardly enough for one! We complained and were give a few extra pieces of beets."

  • "We went back to Bullfinch's because we'd heard that they had remodeled. To our disappointment, the chairs (very uncomfortable wicker) are still the same. It was quite noisy in both rooms. They were packed so apparently a lot of folks do love it. The food was excellent as was the service."

  • "Great food, outstanding service (thanks Chas!) - great anniversary celebration. We left wondering why we don't go there more often. My husband had the duck, I had the tuna. Highly highly reccomend. Even the beer and wine were special.."

  • "This was our first visit and we shall definitely return. The waiter was excellent, we were warmly welcomed and the food was great. I had the duck, my wife the salmon."

  • "... especially as we arrived at 8 on a Friday, which is the later end of the busy period. And didn't love the wine pairing - but the food was as good as always. Everything a bit over-priced, but that's what you expect for a nice venue with creative dining, in Sudbury."

  • "First time trying Bullfinchs when we took friends to dinner there recently. Food was good but not exceptional. Entres seemed very heavily salted when they did not need to be. Service was spotty as well and it wasn't really busy on a Wednesday night. We ordered a nice bottle of wine for the table and the waitress poured four even glasses at the start of the meal and then came back mid-way and rather than evenly dispensing the rest evenly, dumped it all into one of the glasses that was more empty than the others, as if to say "you need to order another $60 botle for these other three glasses". I just looked at her in disbelief. Time to go back to McDonalds. Honestly, we won't hurry back. Lots of other good restaurants in the area."
