Had never been on a Monday night and was surprised at how busy and energetic the place was ... then realized they had a jazz group playing. Enjoyed it, but it was a bit too loud for such a small place. It would have been nice if the amps were turned down a bit.

We had a lovely night here. The menu was creative and affordable, not often do those two words come together. The owner sat us, (we found out her title later from the couple sitting next to us) Large single balloons were placed about for celebrations, very nice touch. The bus boy and waitress were very attentive and polite. It was a wonderful evening. Highly suggest it for dates. Also, do try the desserts!

Our blue cheese salads were not cold, actually Luke warm. I had the trout with crabmeat on top and when I got down to the trout it was raw. Awful experience. Was one of our favorite restaurants but no longer. Down hill lately.

Bullfinchs is one of my favorite Boston area restaurants. Every meal I've ever had tastes pleasing, out of the ordinary, fresh and clean. On this last visit, I can report that the lamb chops are succulent. The roast duck is perfect: moist meat, crisp skin. The sauce is sweet tangy and light. The potato pancakes are perfection! I think of myself as making these very well, but the offering here is the best I've ever tasted. As for desserts we had the berry crisp and it was perfect: not too sweet, the berries were juicy and full of flavor, and the topping was crunchy and completely satisfying. When there are 4 people, it can be enjoyable to try the sampler desert. I've had that in the past and it has always been a big hit.

We went to a special dinner -- 3 courses and accompanying wine -- for $30. There were two selections for each of the courses. I had a watermelon, arugula and feta salad, salmon with orange and fennel, and brownie - berry trifle. The salad was pretty good, but would have been better with more greens and less cheese. The watermelon and feta was a great combination. The salmon was very good, but the fennel was served cold and did nothing to enhance the dish. The brownie trifle was surprisingly good.

The meal and their treatment of us was great. Food was special and the service was prompt and efficient. The only concern I had was that the table for six was really a table for four with one person added on each end. It made it a little tight. Admittedly this was a Saturday night and the restaurant was busy. The wait staff did a great job removing plates and glasses as they were emptied to make space available on the table so we were never truly inconvenienced.

We were very disappointed after seeing high reviews for this place. We are new to the area and were really hoping to find a nice place near by for dinner for our family. The food is very high priced for what you get and is nothing special. We will not be back. I think the real kicker was the children's menu. $12 for a kids meal and my oldest daughter was given maybe a cup of pasta...no veggie or protein. My youngest had the most disgusting chicken fingers we have ever tasted, dry and no flavor. Maybe they just don't want kids to dine there? We will keep searching for a dining option in Sudbury.

The food at Bullfinches is clearly a labor of love; there are great dishes always on the menu, and delicious specials that have never disappointed. The mussels appetizer is great on a normal basis, but the citrus mussels special was incredibly well-prepared and even better than the usual variation. The barbecued spare ribs were rich, tender, and very tasty. Cocktails were also wonderful, and the bartender even concocted something special for me to try on request. All in all, it was a wonderful way to spend our fifteenth anniversary, and we look forward to going back soon.

This was a nice find for us. We were looking for a new place in Metro NW Boston that wasn't a chain or Italian. We took at a chance on Bullfinchs and thought it was quite good. The food was prepared expertly - the scallops were perfectly seared and quite fresh. The short rib stroganoff had chunks of very tender beef, a healthy amount of mushrooms and a sauce that was rich but not heavy. I was a bit surprised that charged $12 for a kids meal. Perhaps that is fair for the steak and fries, but not the chicken fingers plate. It seemed a bit expensive, which made me realize that the cost of the meal overall was probably 10% higher than I would have expected to pay at any location - the suburbs or downtown. That said, good food, bit pricey.

We had a great brunch at Bulfinch's! Above all, the service was terrific and really made us feel at home. Eileen is an amazing server. Our toddler was with us and they could not have been more accommodating. The menu is very reasonably priced and the portions were generous. Our beef tenderloin Benedict special was hefty and delicious, albeit a little oily, but that's a fairly minor critique of the overall superb experience. This is a great place that provides a very warm welcome. A perfect place to relax with friends and have a comfortable and enjoyable time.

Great atmosphere and decor. Bartender very friendly/great service. Food at the table was not hot and one person had to wait for theirs. Menu good. A little pricey for portion size. Wait staff was attentive. Would not want it to be a kid place for dinner- there are plenty of other places for families to go. This is a cut above kind of place. Overall experience very good. Overall we really enjoyed our dinner. The staff managed to host a large group while we were there without any sacrifice to our service. The food was delicious and we appreciated that there was a choice on some entrees between full size and half size portions. The only down side was the location of our table which looked directly onto the kitchen door. With a large group and full house, there was a constant stream of in and out going on which was very distracting and took away from the pleasure of the meal. We will definitely come again, but will request a table far from this back corner.
