  • "It was sloppy this time. Not great. First, I asked the pizza maker if he had any fresh nettles and he didn't even know what nettles were! Second, every one of the lettuce leaves on my green salad had brown tips on it. Like the lettuce had been cut the previous day. I didn't want to mention it to the waiter because I was with my husband and son. But it is a sign that whoever is plating or running the food does not have their eye on the ball. Our waiter was nice though."

  • "Yummy food, and not just pizza! The name is a bit misleading, in that it sounds more casual/ "do it yourself" than it is. While you can select your own items to top your pizza, you do not have to. This is more "upscale", while still having a relaxed atmosphere, than I would have thought. Delicious pizza, sides, and salads. The budino is fabulous. Will definitely return."

  • "You're bound to enjoy this. We had a party of six and each of us left full and happy. It's a terrific experience, from the full bar to the delicious salads to the individualized pizzas to the rich desserts. The place was hopping, but the service remained strong throughout. Fun and well done."

  • "The best thing is the excellent pizza - thin crust with a thick edge, cooked in the wood fired oven - true Italian style. And you can have any toppings you want - true American style! We also had an excellent mixed salad. The wine and beer list is fabulous; so much to choose from, and you can get really good house wine by the 1/2 litre and litre. The deserts are also outstanding - we had the Budino, and it was just divine. Totally recommended. We'll be back with a group for more pizza and great beers. Other reviewers complained about the slow service. A lot of people want instant service, now or sooner, and I put it down to that. We found the service to be just right; we were in and out in just on an hour, on our way to Berkeley Rep."

  • "I fell in love with the pizza bar. The ingredients are fresh and inviting and it was so easy to just add on whatever I wanted for a delicious pizza. They truly do cook in just a few minutes. I love the thin, chewy crust. And the zenzero drink was refreshing. I'm returning!"

  • "Came here with my cousins Saturday night. We sampled three of their signature pizzas, and built one if out own. We also enjoyed the salads and the calamari appetizer. The food was amazing, and our server, Jorge, walked us through all of the ordering/building processes and made some wonderful suggestions. It was lively and had a fun atmosphere, and we will definitely be back to try more delicious combinations. The beer, wine, and cocktail list is also extensive and fun. Overall a good time was had by all!!"

  • "Very good service, pizza tasty (though definitely not the best I've had), salads huge and good, unhappy with poor quality of $11 glass of wine, a dry Riesling, which also wasn't sufficiently cooled. People seemed to enjoy the "build your pizza" approach. I liked the servers, but felt it was gimmicky; like having to get in line for a supermarket salad bar. I'd rather have a better pizza crust and better wine."

  • "I read another review of this restaurant on the Open Table review site and it said "overpriced, toppings skimpy" and it is true. Be warned, if you look at their menu on Open Table, the prices are actually higher than what is listed there. For two pizzas, 3 adult beverages and one dessert, our bill for lunch was $75! That being said, our waiter, Jorge, was excellent, the adult beverages were excellent (I had a blood Mary and my dining partner had a Bella Cosa and she thought it was so good, she ordered another!) and their signature dessert (the only dessert made in-house), the budino, was to die for!"

  • "The food here was great, the service could have been a bit better. We didn't get water for a while even after ordering drinks and our drinks took some time as well. The food was quick as the pizza only takes about 1 minute to add your toppings and <3 minutes to cook in their oven. I like having the ability to customize the pizza - I felt like I was in a fancier Subway. Roasted garlic is the way to go as one of your toppings. I would also recommend the Build fries and the fried truffle risotto balls that came with a GREAT marinara sauce. The bar looks really big, busy, and sleek. I will definitely come back here for a drink."

  • "Chipotle style pizza ordering is a neat concept. I would imagine this to be a fun, interactive first or second date spot (you could learn a lot about someone by their preferred pizza toppings) as well as a limited hassle way to please picky eaters (kids and adults alike). Our group of five opted to pick from the "house recipes" section of the menu. We ordered four pies (margarita, tartufo, piccante, and my favorite, the genovese) and two salads to share; everything was tasty and well balanced, though, the misto salad tasted just a bit harsh. Maybe too much vinegar. The pizza crust was light, thin, and chewy. Delicious!"

  • "We came here for a second visit with a new group of friends last night. I had been there before with a couple of friends and we all loved it so decided to take some other friends along on our next visit. We had reservations at 6:30 and it took 20 mins to get our table. When we finally got to our table we didn't see our server until after 20 mins of waiting and I decided to go ask the host where the server was. Later we saw him flirting with another server, could have been where he was to begin with. When he finally came to our table he seemed a bit annoyed, could have been because we "said something" that we hadn't seen him. My friends had questions and he wasn't the least helpful to answer their questions."

  • "I was there on a Monday night, so it wasn't too crowded. There were lots of pizza choices--3 possible sauces, multiple cheese options, and tons of toppings. My pizza was ready in minutes and it was delicious. The homemade lemonade was delicious too--not too sweet. I'll definitely be going back."

  • "The specific attraction of this restaurant over the other great pizza sources in Berkeley, is the assortment of fresh ingredients the patron may choose from, and how anyone, just by pointing to this and that, can concoct a pie that is a good-tasting work off art (thanks to the skillful staff). The other great advantage is the opportunity for everyone sharing a table to sample everyone else's pizza----or not. Good food overall. The salads were also delicious, and the beer selection worth coming back for. Satisfying dining experience, overall."

  • "We have eaten here twice. Beautiful interior and outstanding service. Build your own was new to us, but the builders were knowledgeable and helpful. Very good beer bar, and we especially enjoyed the flight option. Noise level was a bit high and pizzas came awfully fast (but we were warned). Please consider offering a larger pizza size--one size doesn't necessarily fit all when it comes to pizza."

Our server lavished attention on the 2 little boys in our party, the pizza, salad, app and dessert was memorable, the lines at the pizza-building window were manageable, and I LOVE the free corkage on your first bottle.   • "The food was fabulous and the service was great. The whole "go up and order your pizza" seems contrived, however - why not just place your oder with a waitress? Not having the menu with me to order the pizza, I kind of forgot what I wanted. And the place is very very very noisy (almost impossible to have a conversation with more than one person). But it was fun."
