The food is refined and absolutely delicious, our waiter Kevin was discrete, professional, funny and made excellent recommendations. Everything from the cocktails to the appetizers and main dishes (and dessert - yep, we went all out) were absolutely off the charts. The server was awesome. The drinks were amazing and the food!!! Spectacular! We ordered a LOT of stuff and it was all superb. Okay... actually, the one thing we ordered that I wasn't super excited about was the lobster roll, which I thought was "just okay". But the spare ribs were succulent, fall-off-the-bone treats. The lamb chops, which my husband got were unbelievably good and came with a superb sauce I've never had before but which complimented the lamb well. The dungeness crab sticky rice and snap peas were amazing, the kung po monkfish was very tasty. The best dessert is the almond bread pudding. The place is majestic to boot. The place is perfect (large space with multiple rooms located in the trendiest neighborhood for nightlife), the decor is stunning (will impress out-of-towners & city dwellers alike), the service is impeccable (kind, attentive and unobtrusive), and the FOOD is mouthwatering! But Buddakan has excellent food, an inventive and exciting atmosphere and great service with zero attitude. I brought in 7 friends from out of town and all had a fantastic time. Granted, it wasn't a cheap bill, but the prix fixe $65 per person option was a really great value. We are very grateful to that friend because we had a fantastic night here. The food was lovely and not too pricey but more than that, the atmosphere and ambience were spectacular. We tried to fit in as much as we could to our visit to NYC but there is still so much we would like to see. We probably wouldn't waste much time repeating experiences we have already had, but if we return we would definitely go back to Buddakan. However, the menu was full of possibilities and I enjoyed the dim sum, the tofu entrees, and the fried rice that the kitchen made vegan by removing a few items. The service is very friendly and accommodating and the ambiance is very grand and Asian inspired (although there are no Buddhas in sight). It gets noisy later in the evening so plan an early dinner if you want to experience a restaurant as opposed to a bar scene. The staff couldn't be more accommodating and the service is well orchestrated. I'd recommend requesting a place at the long dining table which features in the SATC movie, as this is in a beautiful well-lit room with high ceilings. The rest of the restaurant features low lighting and cavernous-type rooms, which are hard to settle for once you've had a glimpse of the main dining room. Food wise the edamame dumplings are the best dumplings I've ever tasted! If you are a big fan of black cod, then this is the only let down on the menu, so I would avoid ordering it. I have never really ordered anything I didn't like - but some favorites are the Scallion Pancakes, Charred Filet of Beef and the Whole Peking Duck... plus any of the Dim Sum. The restaurant is huge and is a great place to take guests from out of town and perfect for basically any size group. It was my sister's birthday, which I advised the service as soon as we arrived, and I asked the server for suggestions on a mixed drink that was very sweet. The drink that she suggested wasn't sweet at all and when she later inquired about the drinks, my sister clearly stated that she didn't like it...the server didn't even offer another drink or ask if she would prefer something different?! Beyond that, did I say that the food was amazing??!! We enjoyed everything - I have it recommended as a "Special Occasion", as it was a little pricey - two adults and three kids, the bill was $300. We made a reservation on the web page two weeks ahead back home in Sweden, Two days they called to confirm our reservation and everything worked out perfect. The food, the atmosphere was fantastic. It was a perfect place for us, a family with one 18 yrs son, a 20 yrs daugter and her 21 yrs fiancee.

I don't know where to begin...our server was excellent. He knew the menu well and everything he recommended was excellent. Everything we ordered was impeccably prepared and tasted absolutely delicious. I couldn't stop eating the Chinese Sausage Fried Rice. I don't know how many chefs they have in their kitchen but the food arrived very quickly...nothing had been preprepared. The only negative thing I have to say about Buddakan is that it is very loud but it wouldn't stop us from going back! Definitely an energetic, funky spot with amazingly delicious food.
