  • "Having read a great deal about Budatai, it was on our "must due" list for a recent trip to San Juan. We were totally WOWED! The food was extraordinary ... delicious, innovative and generous. We ordered three items from the dim sum menu are were told by our server that they were large portions and we probably didn't need an entree as well. She was correct and we very much appreciated her honesty. DO NOT miss the pork belly profiteroles with the salted caramel sauce! Truly extraordinary!!! Any future trip to PR will include dinner at Budatai!"

  • "This kind of dining experience is out of the norm for both my daughter and I, although I would like to dine like this always. We were very comfortable here and the menu was exciting yet not frightening. We ordered a few appetizers, dim sum, but our favorite was definitely the pork profiteroles(pork belly with caramel sauce-yummy). My daughter had a geisha roll as an entree and she remarked" this is the best sushi roll I've ever had. It's so good I want to cry". Enough said"

  • "My husband & I made a reservation based on reviews I read here on Open Table. The restaurant has warm tones but still feels upscale. The food was dynamite, not to mention the specialty cocktails! I wish we had one at home! Highly recommend egg rolls w/sausage & cheese filling, duck fried rice and geisha roll. Our server Gloria was superb. Just really loved the unique fusion of flavors."

  • "What a disappointment! For starters, their "signature cocktail" (can't recall name) tasted like a lemon soda. I was expecting an Asian inspired mojito but the tiniest specks of mint that added no flavor. My wife and I each ordered an appetizer, salad and entree. We were so surprised when three of the above arrived very quickly (did we need to ask that the courses be separated?), however my wife's sushi order arrived much later. Compounding matters were the pork dumplings that were absolutely dreadful, so heavy and saucy I was barely able to finish. Both entrees were also very disappointing, and in a rare event left unfinished. The scallops on my Budatai noodles tasted like they had been overheated in a microwave. I won't be back"

  • "For the price if probably never go back. Of the four apps we got I only really loved the duck croquettes. The Herame was pretty good but the garlic and carrots overpowered the delicate flavor of the fish. The potbelly profiteroles had way too much profiterole and the pork belly while well cooked was just ok. The pork dumplings were a huge disappointment. Last thing we ate and really put a damper on the whole meal. The pork was not flavorful the roe had no flavor and the sauce was one note and worst of all because there were truffle shavings on it ,which did nothing for it, it was the most expensive dish we are."

  • "I went here after reading other opentable reviews with my parents and 7 month old while on vacation. Dining with a baby can be challenging but everyone was so helpful and gracious. The food was delicious-we loved the dumplings with truffles, pork belly profiteroles and fried shrimp to start. For an entree we all split the special which was steal and lobster. The cocktails were delicious and their wine list reasonably priced. Probably our favorite dinner in the 7 nights we spent here."

  • "Great place to experience an upscale atmosphere while dining in Puerto Rico. Overall my dishes were good, but not spectacular. The over-accessorized, over-cooked foie gras was not good; but the "tempura" shrimp, that came with a delicious Asian inspired sweet sauce, was nice; as was the pork dumpling with truffles. The Budatai noodle dish was definitely remarkable. As is often the case, 'Asian Fusion' can mean 'unfocused confusion' and sadly that is what kept this place from being great."
