Diner Reviews
  • "We've never been disappointed at Buckley's Great Steaks in Merrimack, NH. The food is superb, the service is top notch. A great restaurant if you are celebrating a special occasion."

  • "Had our anniversary dinner here and the service and food was excellent. Steaks are great and prepared perfectly."

  • "Buckley's, being the steakhouse concept of MT, continues to delight this foodster. Steaks are spectacular, with multiple alternatives. The side dishes for our visit included the panko encrusted onion rings(some of the best I have ever experienced), and green beans with bacon. Portions are reasonable, with two of the party taking home leftovers. Desserts were nice, with three of our party choosing the chocolate, while one went for the baked NH. This was like a baked Alaska, but with blueberries( delicious). We found the overall bill quite reasonable. Prices are lower than going to Boston, and the quality is certainly on par or better. Recommended steaks, the meatloaf ( mushroom, cheese, and a brown gravy), and burgers (in the bar)."

  • "I had heard great things about Buckley's but wow truely one of the best meals the wife and I have ever had. It was her 35th B-day they made sure we had a great seat and the appetizer special "ahi tuna nachos" was to die for. Cant say enough good things!"

  • "The best steak I ever tasted!!! This was the type of meal that made me want to cry, it was that good. I took my first bite and closed my eyes and smiled."

  • "This was my first visit to this restaurant and it was a pleasant relaxing environment. The steak was perfect, the service exceptional and a very quiet atmosphere! All their beef is grain fed. This place reminded me of how fine restaurants used to be and has the old New England atmosphere. The waiter kindly informed us of the historical background of this building and area. I ordered prime rib and my meal came with mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts that were prepared in a special way. This is not the best meal I've ever had in a restaurant here in NH but is the best steak dinner I've had in NH. I look forward to returning sometime soon."

  • "Our dinner overall was excellent. Steaks Tips & Prime Rib were cooked as requested. Our waitress was friendly & knowledgeable and did not rush us at all which we both enjoyed. The only complaint which is really a small one, the vegetable that night was Brussels sprouts and they didn't seem to have any seasoning on them at all."

  • "I rarely order a steak out at dinner but at Buckley's I wouldn't order anything else. I got the Sirloin Strip, medium. It was cooked perfectly and was delicious. The sides it came with were delicious as well as the goat cheese salad. Pricey but worth it!"

  • "All but one steak was cooked correctly. One filet should have been Medium Rare, but it came out Medium to Medium Well. It wasn't worth the hassle to get a new one fired up as everyone's meals would have gotten cold or over warmed while we waited. The prices here are what you expect to see in a major city and a national brand (Morton's, Ruths Chris, Captiol Grille, etc.). That said you'd expect the same high quality and standards of service, quality, proportions, ambiance. Unfortunately they fell short on the quality and proportions. Service was perfect. (see trip advisor) I will probably go back, but I will know what to expect. If I want the FULL experience for the $$, then I'd head to Burlington or Boston for it."

  • "We only go here 6 or 7 times a year because there are quite a few great restaurants in the area but we are never disappointed. Our server was great. At times I am convinced that I'd crave a Big Mac if one of the Buckley's servers would describe it as a daily special."

  • "In Southern NH there are few quality steak houses- and Buckleys does not disappoint.I chose to use the online reservations as we were planning to arrive at 6:45 which is a popular time. We arrived early and were pleasantly greeted and seated immediately. Our waitress was knowledgeable, witty and professional. We ordered French onion soup, and the tbone steak dinner. Both dinners were done to our request and mouth watering :). The only reason not for 5 star all around is that the dinner comes with mashed potato and vegetable of the day which was brussel sprouts. I don't care for mashed potato and to sub for a roated red potato with seasonings cost extra. I think there should be a choice of potato. Dessert was molten lava cake- nirvana. :)"

  • "Four of us had dinner on a Saturday evening. Reservations were taken and we were promptly seated. Two of us ordered steaks and 2 ordered prime rib. The filet mignon was average no better than anywhere else and nothing to make it outstanding. The sides were tasty. One of the party who ordered the prime rib found it tasteless and tough. After looking forward to this restaurant, we found it to be very average. We would not go out of our way to return."

  • "Steaks were good. Sides were great. Prime rib was not as tender as you would expect. One had to be sent back because it was very tough. The replacement was better, but still not what you would expect. For the price, it should be melt in your mouth tender. Prime rib is also offered in two cuts, not sure why. One cut is chuck, which should be most tender, what we both ordered."

  • "kind of pricey. I have had better steaks for a lot less money. Our server was great! There is hardly any parking had to circle the parking lot at least 3 times and stalk someone to their car to find a space. when we arrived they we were seated upstairs, someone had a window open, we were freezing! Had to ask server to shut it."

  • "With the title and reputation, I had my hopes up. The steak prices were just a touch in the inexpensive side relative to other steak houses. Certainly not a cheap meal by any means. While I was impressed with the atmosphere and the food overall, it was the steak that let me down. The ribeye was thin and charred to a point like they were trying to hide something. The description of marbling left out the fact that a significant portion of this piece of meat was actual fat. Huge chunks of fat that one just cuts away. I guess when they technically weigh a piece of meat so that it matches the description in the menu, the fat must count. For the price here, I expected better. For a "great" steak, I'm going somewhere else."

  • "This is where we go when we want to treat ourselves. The steaks are perfectly cooked, and the sides are always wonderful. The scallop appetizer was delicious and also perfectly cooked, but I found my self missing the summer version with the corn and tomatoe. Can't wait for summer."

  • "We were greated by the hosts and asked why we were there. We had reservations at 6:45 we were sat promptly but our waiter walked past our table 8 or 9 time till asking us for our drink order which mind you by the time he came over to our table to even speak to us was at 7:15 we didn't get our drinks till 8:00 and I only ordered a ice tea and and my husband ordered a beer. Food finally came out after 8 and my filet mashed potatoes and beans were all cold. My husband asked for the check half way through dinner because he was so ferious and we didn't receive the bill for another 15 minutes. We went out for a romantic date night and that was a bust.. Will not recomend this resturant to anyone."

  • "If you call your restaurant "Great Steaks" you ought to deliver. When ordered "Medium" the filet was quite "well done..."when ordered "medium rare" the Cowboy arrived cold in the center and bloody. Our party of 5 ordered Cod (fine; not great) Tuna (cooked to temp. as ordered and seasoned perfectly) and the rib eye in addition to the two steaks mentioned above. The sides are un-interesting and sub par. The server was attentive and cheerful; we did not see a manager at our table although one made the rounds twice while we dined. A couple adjacent to us felt compelled to watch videos at a very high volume on a cell phone which was distracting to say the least. Earth shattering? No, of course not... but at these prices I expect better."

  • "Went for our 25th anniversary and had a great meal. Located in an old house that gave a nice ambiance but was a little louder than I would have liked. Service was attentive but not overbearing. We closed the restaurant down but there was no pressure to leave. I'd recommend it as a good place to go for a special occasion but might not be appropriate for a business meeting."

  • "Found Buckley's to be as good as I had heard. Not a place for frequent dining as it comes at a premium price, especially for someplace out of the city. Atmosphere is comfortable and not at all fancy (especially given the price) but that seems to be the tread these days. Good selection of whiskies on the drink menu, which is also a more recent trend. If you are a fancier of beef, and are scared off by premium prices, Buckley's food is very good."

  • "Almost everything about this restaurant is top notch. The filet was amazing as was the prime rib. The squash tasted like Christmas, delicious. My favorite vegetable is the baked potato, It is the simplest to cook....wash, put it in the oven, take it out when a fork easily goes through it. I specifically asked the waitperson if the baked potatoes were FRESH or cooked earlier in the day and kept on a steam table. She assured me that they were fresh. It wasn't even warm enough to melt the softened butter that I put on it. I'm not sure when it had been cooked but it may not even have been that same day That being said, I would like to ask why can't I get a good baked potato in an upscale restaurant? Next time, I'll get the fries."

  • "But I will be back! We had a Phantom Gourmet gift card and so we decided to check this place out. I chose this place by looking at the menu on line first. The meal we had was fantastic and much less expensive than some of the other steak houses in the Boston area. Laura, our server, was very knowledgeable. The steak was cooked to perfection and the Baked New Hampshire dessert was outstanding. It won't have to be a special occasion for me to visit again!"

  • "I took my family to Buckleys for my husbands birthday he had been dying to go. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the server was very good and attentive. We all had steaks that were cooked perfect. Mashed potatoes were excellent and they brought my husband a dessert with a birthday plaque on the front all in all a very nice evening I would definetely go back."

  • "This place serves the best steaks I have ever had. I ordered the sugar cured steak and my date ordered the prime rib. Both meals were great and the sides were also amazing. If you think that because this steak house isn't in the city it cant be that good, you would be dead wrong. The much cheaper prices from the over hyped Boston steak houses, make this meal much more enjoyable. Our food took a long time to come out, but our server was very apologetic for the wait. Our order had come in after a big party, but i didn't mind waiting because the seating area was very nice. You will need reservations."

  • "Buckley's is a great place for a great steak. My wife thought her steak was charred a little more than she likes, but I thought my filet was fantastic and the veggie of the day change my opinion of Brussel sprouts. Best of all, Buckleys easily has the best bourbon list of any place in southern NH- knob, Jeffersons, Evan Williams, Elijah Craig and at least six to eight others. Was great to have a choice beyond Makers and Jack. Great place!"

  • "My husband decided to spontaneously take me to dinner. I have always wanted to dine here since I first heard of this restaurant in 2008. He surprised me with getting a sitter for our 15 month old son so that we could have a nice romantic dinner. Our waitress I believe her name was Constantine but she was perfect. She was very attentive to our needs, very knowledgeable, made our experience perfect. As my husband and I are very young looking we were nervous that we might get a different form of service in this kind of establishment but we were treated the same as any other table. (We have been treated very differently in other restaurants because we look very young and have a child) Thank you for the great night."

  • "The first thing I noticed was that 2 men at a table closely both returned their meals. I am not sure why but the manager cmd over to resolve their issue. Shortly after that at another table closely the man said that he did not like his meal and the manager came back again and removed it from their bill.My wife ordered the prime rib and unfortunately it was dry and not very good, but we thought maybe the cook was having a bad day and the manger had had enough complaints so we didn't say anything. I ordered the Cowboy ribeye and was not thrilled with it. It was cooked perfectly but I didn't care for the sweet sauce on it and while I love some fat especially if it is seared, this piece of meal had much more wiggly fat than it should have."

  • "The food was amazing, but make sure you have reservations. Parking is also not the best since the lot they have is not large enough for the number of customers."
