  • "The food was good, with several options for side dishes, but considered the menu pricey. One of the specials was a $35 halibut dish, way overpriced. The menu is pretty much beef driven. The place is popular, as the people were constantly coming in during our dinner. It is in a good location, and across the street from The Palms, if you are attending a show. Ample parking nearby."

The cream of mushroom soup was very flavorful & the warm sourdough bread never stopped arriving just when we needed it!The service is excellent & the back room is quiet for a birthday party!   • "My husband and I have been going to Buckhorn for 25 years. We stopped going for many year (about 10 years ago) because of the service. Service is back! Last Friday (8/8) booked a table for four to take my best friend to dinner with her hubby. We brought a bottle of Champagne. Bottle service is only $12. The food was great but our waiter, Rodrigo, was outstanding. Great personality. Funny. Charming. I handed him my credit card behind my hubby's back and then said I had to go to the ladies room & excused myself. I signed the card & told Rodrigo that "we always have fist fights about who pays". As we were about to leave, he handed the receipt book to my friends hubby with a note that said "I didn't want to start a fist fight". Too cute!"

  • "My boyfriend and I were looking for a romantic dinner on a warm summer night. The Buckhorn provided lovely atmosphere, exceptionally delicious food, and outstanding service. We had a wonderful dinner; everything was prepared perfectly. I had steak and lobster (one of their specials for the night) and my boyfriend had teriyaki steak skewers with a glass of wine for me and a beer for him. The prices were very reasonable - around $75 ($90 including tip.)"

The seafood menu is quite limited but those of us who ordered the shrimp scampi were extremely pleased. The service was excellent but the noise level was extremely high.   • "We enjoy coming here whenever we can. The servers are superb and the food is absolutely amazing. The meat is always cooked to order perfectly, the spinach artichoke dip is delicious, but our favorite is the Tomahawk special on weekends. A giant rib bone with the full chunk of rib-eye meat still attached and carved right at your table. Every time we order it, people look over at the table and this time someone even took a picture of it as our server was carving it for us. Love the food and service here every time."

The old world charm, off set by the rustic thrill of the hunt, leaves you with an energy of fun and excitement. The food is wonderful. Reasonably price and plenty of it.   • "Have wanted to make the trip from Folsom to the Winters Buckhorn and finally made it happen. Overall we really enjoyed the experience, great beef entrees with a large selection. The service wasn't the greatest but it wasn't a huge let down either - the waitress was a little quirky. The wild game mounts really align with the restaurant name and as a hunter made the evening that much more fun. Though we didn't take advantage of the outdoor seating it looked to be very comfortable and next time (there will be a next time) maybe we will ask to sit outdise."

  • "Been here several times for special occasions. Atmosphere is friendly, but can get a little loud sometimes. Service has always been excellent! I recommend trying the Baseball Sirloin. It is amazingly delicious! If you get a man named Rigo as your server then count yourself lucky cuz he is great! Food can be pricey but I feel you get what you pay for. They also serve incredible, warm sourdough bread with your meal. Cannot recommend this restaurant enough! The Buckhorn is amazing!"

  • "Went here for an anniversary dinner. Was pleasantly surprised to see that the dinner special Sunday night (not found on website) was a very reasonable $14 for two types of meat, plus sides. The other surprise was that all the very reasonable drink prices found online (on phone) were incorrect. Every drink shown online was $6, but the actual drink prices were more like $9 and up, with only a handful at $8 or below. We were seated immediately and our server was pretty good. The sourdough bread was really nice, the roasted meat was solidly med-rare, and the chicken was properly cooked and still moist. Roasted veggies were very good. Wines were fine, and they had a number of local ones. Creme brulee was nice too, though very rich."

  • "Our family (a party of 8) celebrated by daughter's birthday last Saturday. The service left a lot of room for improvement. Drinks remained empty after requesting more water and one time he took the glasses away to be refilled and did not come back for 10-15 minutes with the drinks. There was a fly that hovered the table the entire time. One member of the party was displeased with the meat being very over-done and commented to the server. His comment was "What do you want me to do, a song and a dance?" Being from the local area and having gone to the Buckhorn for special occasions and just regular dining for the past 20 years we were disappointed. As a result of this experience it will be a long time until we return."

  • "Buckhorn continues to please, with a fine wait staff and excellent food. Ordered a sirloin steak "Pittsburg style" and the waiter communicated to the chef who cooked it perfectly. Grilled veggies were perhaps a bit soft, but tasty none-the-less. My wife had the salad with steak: Huge and delicious."
