Diner Reviews
  • "Perfect place to gather with friends for great pub food."

  • "Warm, comfortable setting with a friendly staff & good food at a reasonable price. Always a great place for lunch or dinner."
    Dined on 3/31/2014
  • "French onion soup is delicious as were the fajitas and lobster ravioli. I have never disappointed. Service was a little slow b/c of several large groups in the upstairs room."
    Dined on 3/29/2014
  • "Potatoes and veggies cold. Steak was overdone. They did take 5 off bill for inconvienoence"
    Dined on 3/29/2014
  • "The Buckeye has an extensive menu with moderate prices, good quality food and good service. The larger rooms can get noisy and feel crowded at times, but well worth a visit for a relaxed lunch or dinner."
    Dined on 3/28/2014
  • "Good food, very pleasant service but the room was distractingly loud for me. Not a place I would return for a quiet dinner. I have dined at this establishment previously around holiday time and although loud it seemed to fit a festive season. Just too noisy for a mid-week "I need to relax with a friend" kind of gathering place."

  • "As always, we got fantastic service and excellent food, cooked to order. Huge list of selections to choose from, large portions and everything we've ever had has been very good. Seating near the bar can get a bit noisy if the bar is crowded, and near the fireplaces can get pretty warm when there are fires in them, but there are plenty of seating options."

  • "I love coming to the Buckeye but when I came this weekend with my sig. other and two good friends (who have never been there before) I was left with a bad taste in my mouth. Our server was absolutely awful. Service was slow, she made multiple mistakes and then split our check incorrect AND swiped the wrong card for the wrong checks. I have never experienced such a thing. It's a shame because I have raved for so long about the Buckeye and received mediocre service when I finally got my friends to try it out. The food was very good but everything else left us not really wanting to return for quite some time."

  • "Always a great choice for good food and friendly service. Cozy environment with a wide range of food choices, always well prepared, and they're always willing to do special request orders. We've eaten here too many times to count and have always come away well satisfied. Weekends can be a bit crowded and noisy, reservations are a best bet, but even then there may be a bit of a wait for a table, but always worth it."

  • "We took the whole family for a birthday celebration. The menu offered something for everyone. The steaks were ordinary, but the Wings, pasta dishes and salads we ordered were terrific! Service was excellent, but we were toldwe'd have to be out in 2 hours. Ordinarily I wouldn't have minded, but it was a special occasion that I notified them about when we booked. Nevertheless, the ambience was great - a real historic tavern! We will definitely be back!"

  • "I choose to eat here for almost every special occasion! I love the food and enjoy how quaint this establishment is."

  • "Really loved the food here. I wasn't thrilled to be seated in the back section upstairs away from all the action--that was a bit of a downer. Would have liked to be with the rest of the crowd for better atmosphere. We did have a drink at the bar after dinner which was better scene-wise."

  • "Cozy and charming, with healthy foods to choose from in addition to fun foods."

  • "This was my third time and my husbands first time dining at the Tavern. It was outstanding. From the food to the service to the short wait to the menu, everything was great! My husband is a very hard to please person when it comes to menu items and he couldn't say enough about how amazing the menu selection was! We will definitely be back!!! And will spread the news to our friends to try it as well! Thank you!"

  • "Went here with a couple laid-back customers of mine and had a great time. They had no problem accommodating 10. Appetizers were outstanding. I would highly suggest the Buffalo Chicken Dip and the Blue Cheese chips."

  • "We enjoyed a great lunch and as always food was great and waitress excellent."
    Dined on 1/11/2014
  • "You really know that you are in an old tavern. Stone walls, rough hewn wood trim. Low door openings. On top of this neat place, the food is great and there is a good variety. I had the black diamond quesadilla. My wife had the black diamond steak sandwich. Others had the black angus burger and rueben. Everyone loved their food. And there was too much of it. One thing to note is that on a cold day, it can be chilly, so wear a sweater. I would like to go back soon."

  • "It was New Years Eve so there were great specials, yet we appreciated that there was also the regular great menu to choose from. Some of us unexpectedly had late lunches."
    Dined on 12/31/2013
  • "The Buckeye is one of those restaurants that is always good, a little pricey but worth it."
    Dined on 12/31/2013
  • "The Blue Moon my husband ordered was murky and had a strange flavor. My margarita was WAY too sour. Sent it back with a little better luck. The perogies were dry and, like, Mrs.T's. I don't buy those for home because they suck. Bland. My husband liked the wings but our waitress forgot he had ordered them as an app, but didn't get them until after all the food came cause we reminded her. The crab was GOOD! I enjoyed that a lot."

  • "Great neighborhood restaurant to enjoy a good meal on a busy holiday evening."

  • "We go to the tavern for several of our Christmas parties for work. We have also been there for dinner. Every time, it is enjoyable. We're lucky to have such a special little spot in our neighborhood. Is romantic, fun, lively. The food is fabulous. The service also rocks."

  • "The restaurant is so cute on the outside, rustic and lodge like on the inside. The food is Ruby Tuesday. So disappointed. The waiter was so nice , quick service but the food selection was boring and unfortunate . I would go back if they fixed the menu."

  • "I have been to this restaurant many other times & it was always delish! However, the Thanksgiving buffet wasn't quite as expected. The main entrées weren't very warm at all. Someone from the kitchen should have been checking food temperatures. The restaurant was extremely busy to say the least. The restaurant was very nicely decorated for the holidays. The staff was friendly as always. I will stick to regular dining instead of holidays here."

  • "Was hoping for a quiter dinner. But the place was packed and it was a Sat night after all. Service was great and so was the food! Prices are fair and affordable."
    Dined on 11/30/2013
  • "They offered a Thanksgiving buffet. The food was average. Needed more vegetables. They lacked organization. They changed some their wine offerings & not for the better. I love the decor, as it is an historically dated cobblestone building. The wait staff does an excellent job. The dessert bar needed to be located elsewhere. As the waiting crowd continuously gathered, drinks were being handed over top the desserts, with no shield protecting them, since was also the actual drink bar. I enjoyed the fact that I did not need to cook and I still got regular Thanksgiving foods, so that made all good. I just would have liked it to be a bit more special."

  • "Rustic, warm neighborhood spot for bar type food. Great service."

  • "Have gone here many times, but have never ordered French Onion Soup. Our whole table ordered it for a started, what a disappointment. The bread was so hard even in the soup was impossible to bite. There was a table near us with a baby who cried/screamed most of the meal, and at times we couldn't hear each other. I realize that was not the restaurant's fault. The rest of the meal was delicious, as usual!"

  • "Very disappointed in the service. Waitress never asked if we wanted more coffee or another alcoholic beverage. Barely came by to ask how the food was. When she finally stopped by to see f we wanted dessert, she didn't stick around to hear out answer. Food was ok, garlic & broccoli & shrimp pasta didn't have a lot of taste, barely tasted the garlic. We went to Kohl's department store later and had more of an enjoyable time and greater customer service with the cashier than we did with the waitress. Won't be going back."

  • "Buckeye Tavern has an immense menu with anything you could be hungry for! Great food with affordable pricing. Always busy so it is a good idea to make a reservation!"
    Dined on 11/8/2013
  • "Nice homey atmosphere. Bustling place and great service. Of the 3 entrees at our table, salmon and cajun steak/shrimp great. The tilapia was a bit dry and small portion, but good flavor. Overall, nice restaurant...will go back"
    Dined on 11/2/2013
  • "Filet mignon was very tough and not because it was over cooked. We ordered it medium and it was medium. Rice was actually crunchy in spots.like it was scraped from sides of pan. They totally forgot my husbands broccoli. Cole slaw had a strong flavor as if it is made far ahead and kept too long."
    Dined on 11/2/2013
  • "This was our first experience at the Buckeye Tavern. The menu had many choices and the food was great! We came for a special occasion, 3 out of the 4 people were celebrating birthdays and we had a good time."
