  • "Our table was next to the loudest most obnoxious people I have encountered in the Bay Area. "Sugar Thighs" was a bullhorn of off-color class-less conversation for an hour of our meal. YUK! Food: Fabulous, maybe the tastiest wings I have ever enjoyed. Beautiful presentation of all dishes, basil pasta in the squid dish was incredible. Solid defined flavors and good portions. Service: Perfect, but difficult to hear over the 5 top table next to us."

  • "We went for brunch at 11:15. We were seated right away. The food, for all but one of us, was delicious. The one unhappy person had ordered French toast and the bread was too thick and there were too many raisins, which detracted from the dish as a whole. Service was not very good, from the wait staff to the bus staff. The noise level wasn't too bad because we were fairly early, which made me wonder at the poor service. This is still a favorite Mill Valley restaurant and we will definitely go there again."

  • "I've been to the Buckeye many times and always enjoyed the food, atmosphere and professional service. This time though, the food did not quite meet the standard I am used to. I had the pork chop and it was fatty, gristley and undercooked. I was with a group, so I did not want to make a fuss or hold up the others. It just seemed the kitchen was lacking attention and focus. Everything else was good, though. One other complaint was the price of their most popular appetizer, the Oysters Bingo. $18.50...really? for 6 cooked oysters with garlic, cheese and spinach? That seems steep!"

  • "We are staying in the Sonoma Valley for the summer (getting away from Tucson HEAT) and are in paradise with having so many choices of outstanding restaurants!! The Buckeye was recommended by a good friend for their Oysters Bingo and WOW were they GOOD. I had an order as a starter followed by a salad then another order of Oysters Bingo as my main. Would you say that I liked them??? My husband also had the Bingo followed by liver which he loved. We ended with S'more pie - yummy! Would we go again? you bet!!"

  • "Early Sunday evening dinner....quiet when we arrived, but noise level increased in volume as people filled up the dining room. Our server was very good and took care of us with humor. Our meals were tasty and nicely presented. Food was creative (fish special, veal meatball, croissant donuts for dessert), but still what I would call American comfort food. Our corner table was small and was somewhat awkward and cramped. It is a very busy restaurant that would be more enjoyable if it were less noisy."

  • "After years of loving the Buckeye we've noticed a distinct change in both the quality and portions of food recently such that the Buckeye has now off our "go to" restaurants in Marin. This is really sad as the Buckeye is one of the last classy adult bar/restaurants in southern Marin. This weekend we had the the Beef Filet menu item and what was served was 3 slices of beef on a mound of vegies that had a very spicy dressing. Seemed to be a bait and switch between the menu item title and what was delivered especially for $30+ dollars per serving."

I ordered a manhattan with makers mark. The drink I received was very light in color. She should have known that it was the wrong drink with the wrong bourbon with no sweet vermouth. She also failed to serve my daughter the mashed potatoes we requested with the rib eye steak. Attention to details can make such a difference."

Deana was visibly bothered by the whole thing and frankly rude. I vowed to never return. My girlfriend said we should give another chance as one bad waitress didn't ruin the entire place. So we came back and JC was great."

  • "Been going to the Buckeye for over 15 years, was always an night that I looked forward to...classic meals that were always delicious and the ambiance is always great. On the last visit, I had the Wedge Salad and the new interpretation of the Petite Filet dish...both disappointed. The 'new' wedge was smaller (not a bad thing) but now has two smallish bacon curls rather than the bits over the salad. Still tasted good, just an unexpected departure. The Filet disappointed on a whole new level. For a dish that was supposed to highlight a good cut of meat, I got instead a pile of vegetable confit with 4 very small slices of (not cooked to order) meat. Won't ever order that dish again, terrible value at $31.50."
