  • "Came here for a late lunch. The restaurant was easy to get to. We were immediately treated by a friendly hostess and seated. Wait staff was very attentive. The food was good and the ambiance was very nice. The garden, as you enter, is beautifully maintained. Great for photos. I would recommend this place to a friend."

  • "Eaten here many times, food was excellent, but for the first time the service was not. Food was served exceptionally slow, had to ask for bread and then water refills. And the changed their, formerly, excellent dessert menu."

  • "Buckeye Roadhouse was great for our special occasion; excellent wine list, great drinks, and good service & food. I was surprised that the grilled steaks didn't come with a bone-in option - as the sense of this place's history is one of a chop house. Their fish was very good and in future I'd look beyond the beef options to see what else the chef has in store. For a pure chop-house experience I'd recommend going up the road to El Paseo in Mill Valley."

  • "The beer list = OK, but sub-par; see Boxing Room (San Francisco) for inspiration The BBQ ribs = Good, but restaurant needs to know the phrase "fall off the bone"; multiple sauce options would be nice Plus: for the French fries, more dipping sauces (like Absinthe in SF) and less oil in the preparation Cole slaw = excellent. Don't change this! All in all: a very nice place for good food and pleasant surroundings"

  • "We love coming to this restaurant. The people are friendly, the cocktails are always superb, great wine list, great food service, and the food delicious. We ate upstairs this time and it can get a bit warm up there but the atmosphere is great where ever you sit."

  • "Great restaurant and classy bar scene. Try the Oysters Bingo, Smoked Chicken Wings are outstanding and the Brick Chicken is the best chicken dish I have ever ordered...anywhere."

  • "I need a new best restaurant. Buckeye has been that place for years. Lately I have been less satisfied; Monday I went back for a "one last chance". This is a night I took a client, who was time strapped. The special was not so good and I did not have the time to send it back, in order to finish it, I ate slowly. Each time I put my utensils down to chew and swallow this lousy dish, one then another busboy would ask to take my plate, full of food. This happened five times. On the fifth time I told him "No I am not done but since you do not want me here , wrap it up and we will go. " And we did. Such a sad day to report. I have always found Buckeye to be "the best" but six dining experiences in 2014 tell me it not longer is, "The Best"."

  • "We had not been to the Buckeye Roadhouse in years. The food was good, but nothing special. The portions were much smaller than reviewed and what we remembered. Noise level was high and some patrons were rude and obnoxious. Service was not as sharp for an well established restaurant. Either the service staff were understaffed or they were not trained properly. We had to ask for water refills. Not all cutlery were set on the table initially and once taken away were not replaced when dessert was served. We will not return."

  • "Food was okay. Nothing special. Service was slow. Appeared they may have been short staffed."

  • "I was very disappointed in the food here. I had the hanger steak it was cooked right but not much flavor. The burrata cheese and mushrooms were very bland. My dinner mates had the sole and they were not too crazy about it either. The service was great though and atmosphere nice."

  • "after having come once before to Buckeye for appetizers and drinks, I always longed to have a meal in the dining room. The opportunity came when I offered to take a valued client there. We enjoyed a fabulous lunch by the fireplace and were pampered from the moment we entered the restaurant. The server offered the Sea Bass special and we both ordered it. Delicious as it sounded with fresh sea bass grilled to perfection, tender peas and a luscious pea puree under the fish. Delish! Cant wait to return."

  • "This was our second or third visit and everything was wonderful, as usual. JC and Deanna took great care of us and the food was wonderful! Will definitely be back again. Thank you."

  • "My family and I wanted to take my Aunt to a special place before driving to see the Marin headlands. It was raining heavily when we got to the restaurant. The restaurant has free valet parking out front so we didn't have to be in the rain for long. When we entered the place it was very cozy and we had a perfect table right by the fireplace. The menu had a variety of choices and everyone enjoyed their meal. To top it off I had the rhubarb cobbler which came with ice cream and a sweet, light biscuit that was out of this world. I am looking forward to trying the ribs next time!"

  • "The food at Buckeye Roadhouse was excellent! We had onion rings & salad for appetizers (what a combination) which were very good. Our entrees were sea scallops, steak & brisket. Also excellent. Service was very good except that we seemed to have some VIPs at a table near us & our waitress spent a lot of time chatting with them, letting them know they were special. Other than that, our visit to Buckeye was great & we will try to back there for another delicious dinner."

  • "I had been there 25 years ago. How it has changed. Beautiful! If nothing else, go there for the feeling of being in an old historic Marin restaurant, very nice interior. The food was great too and the service excellent."

  • "Buckeye never fails. I tried the brick chicken, it is a signature dish of theirs and it was so delicious! Hubby had the skirt steak and loved it too."

  • "Went here for a special lunch with a friend. The atmosphere was perfect (lively, moderately noisy, but not so much that we could not have a conversation without working at it). Food was great as was the service. What more could you ask for."

  • "I have never been disappointed in the Buckeye. The ambiance is great, the staff friendly & efficient and the food very, very good. Even the prices are reasonable for the quality. We had oysters two ways and both were outstanding. Also the scallops and brisket were delicious. That's why I keep coming back again and again."

  • "Great place to celebrate something. Food is always very good, but the desserts are to die for. Try the coconut custard pie...outstanding!"

  • "This is the kind of place I associate with the flush years following World War II -- the Mad Men era -- without the cigarettes. Owner Peter Schumacher is a thorough-going professional, and his operation reflects his lifelong immersion in the trade. The food’s terrific, the rooms warm and convivial. The Buckeye is like a cherished old friend: you always look forward to your next meeting."

  • "We have been going to the Buckeye for years. Many restaurants have outstanding food and the Buckeye is right up there with the best Marin restaurants. However, they do have the most consistent most outstanding service personnel. The Maitre D'Is are always prompt, the servers courteous and the bus boys always on the ball. Peter, the manager, says hello when he sees us."

  • "We hadn't been to Buckeye for years, but it was first on my list for my son's birthday. All four of us enjoyed the evening, the ambience and the food. We started with oysters bingo and seared ahi. The ahi and chopped salad dish was particularly tasty. Main course: halibut special was wonderful as were thebeef filet and the rib-eye. My New York steak was a bit more toward medium than medium rare, but still good. Given the choice again I would choose the rib-eye and asparagus ravioli. The desserts were quite good--Key Lime pie (lovely), vanilla ice cream sundae (yummy), chocolate brioche pudding (decadent), and butterscotch cream brulee (everyone's fave'). The waitress was terrific. She knew the wine list, attended to us perfectly."

  • "As I live on the Peninsula, I rarely get over to Marin for lunch. The Buckeye was a treat. I spent lunch time with A very special friend. It was like a reunion and The Buckeye served us well in every category!"

  • "I had a great dining experience. The food was very good and our wait staff was attentive, friendly, and helpful. I would recommend the restaurant in a heart beat. It is easily accessible from the 101 highway. The valet parking was an added convenience. Overall my sister and I enjoyed every aspect of our evening."

  • "The wedge salad was nowhere near as good as usual. It had intentionally been changed. My New York Steak had a tendon in it that was very difficult to eat respectfully, so I took it home. I am sad to say, this was my least favorite Buckeye experience."

  • "A window was open and it was too cold the entire dinner. I would have liked for it to be quieter, it was so loud I couldn't even hear conversations at our table. The food was fantastic and the waiter was great. Great drinks too, they came fast and yummy."

  • "Breakfast is served until I believe it was 3pm. We got there at noon and everyone wanted breakfast so it worked out beautifully. The duck hash was delicious and the french toast was very large portion. We were there for hours and never felt rushed. Great place for brunch!"
