A word from Buca
Buca Osteria Enoteca is an Italian restaurant from the King Street Food Company (Jacobs & Co. Steakhouse and The Saint Tavern). The menu aims to combine the ingredient specificity of rustic Italian cuisine with the culinary finesse of fine dining, building recipes around fresh and seasonal produce, but using a number of classical culinary techniques as well. The beautiful and understated main dining room has soaring high ceilings, exposed raw brick, and iron beams - using the natural elements of the heritage building.   • "I had been trying to get a reservation to Buca at a time convenient for me for months. I had to book almost a month in advance to get prime dining time even though it was for a Sunday evening. The food was good but I can't say it was the best nor worth the wait. The wine list was a bit overpriced and strangely priced. The least expensive being the lightest wines and the most expensive were the heaviest. The food was interesting and a little different. The portion sizes tended on the smaller side. My husband who is not a big eater was still a little hungry when we left. I certainly won't plan far in advance again but I might try again."

  • "As usual the food was fabulous! The service was "hovering" and a bit stuck up. The manager and others kept walking by scouring the table. Three different people came by the table over a 10 minute timeframe and asked if we were finished with the one piece of pizza that was left on the table. Finally when the last one came by one of us put it on our plate so they would leave us alone. When you are paying that much for dinner, I expect to be left alone to enjoy the meal."

  • "Upon arrival we were met with the coldest reception. I asked if we could dine outside and the response was NO with a very unwelcoming glare. We were then sat in the middle of the dinning room by the servery when there were lots of empty tables (I made my reservation at 9:00 so I would not have to worry about this problem). Where we had to watch and listen to the snotty Maître D/Manager (not sure which) chide the staff all night long. Our server was also very cold and waited until we were ordering to tell us they were out of that...which ended up be a long list. Needless to say we did not feel very welcome and made the whole evening very uncomfortable. The food was good but not worth enduring the pretentious atmosphere and service."

  • "The service was great!! The salmi di buca was amazing. The strawberry preserve and the "cave-aged" sheep milk cheese stole the show. The nodini went really well with the salmi di buca. So simple yet tastes amazing. For the main course we both had the gnocci. It was kind of a let down. It was lacking in sauce. Overall really dry. Appreciated the amount of lobsteron the plate. I also made a note on the OpenTable reservation that it was my GF's bday. I guess they don't do anything special for birthdays. Would have been nice."

The service was exceptional and our wait staff was very attentive and informative with regards to choices on the menu. The food was excellent especially the bread knots Carpaccio, and the Agnolotti. Would definitely return to delve deeper into the menu."

  • "Had a great meal at Buca. Duck pasta was our favorite. We came at 9:30pm and a number of items were already not available. It also took a long time to get our food which was strange since the place was half empty...seemed like they were already prepping for the next day and not as focused on getting dishes out quickly. Overall I love the food here but I would avoid the last seating. Our waiter also wasnt particularly welcoming and didnt even tell us he was leaving for the evening and somebody else would finish the service for him. Luckily the girl that took over was much better. The sommelier was also great and knowledgeable."

  • "The first time I ate at Buca, I was not a fan. I made the mistake of simply ordering off the menu without spreaking to the incredibly helpful wait staff. I went back again and asked for recommendations and fell in love. Some of my favorites include the truffle pizza with burrata cheese, a simple pomodoro spaghetti which is not on the menu but delicious, the eggplant Parmesan appetizer, and the garlic knots. I've not had but hear people raving about the chaquterie boards (cheese and salumi boards). One of my favorite local spots in the city."

  • "Ok I am reviewing this restaurant because everyone told me how great it was and how great the food is, now for a top restaurant in Toronto I wasn't impressed as a compare to the others I have dined at recently. The food was good but expensive and I know you are paying for chef quality food and ambiance but it could have been a lot better. Its worth a try if you are hitting the hot spots in Toronto. The waitress was hard to understand and I thought it was just me till I overheard other patrons saying the same. Maybe a one off. The $25 cake desert was the best I have ever had. Either way if you are rated one of the best then then the expectation was high but wasn't met."

  • "Our experience at Buca was disapointing. Food was ok at best. Portions were very small, both for apetizers and main courses. Taste was very good for the apetizers, nothing impressive for the mains. Way too much oil in both cases. Service was uneven. When it was time to order and get the check, we had to wait a long while even if the restaurant was not busy. However, when it was time to refill our wine glasses, the wait staff was all over us, even to the point of being annoying. Prices were very high for the portion and the quality of the food. I was very much looking forward to my dining experience at Buca, but it was overall very disapointing... "

  • "My wife, me and the 2 kids went as the youngest turned 19. Food was superb, staff were observant but not pushy. Food came promptly. We sat inside although the outside dining had started as the nice weather just started. My eldest tasted the first wine she picked, didn't like the sample so two others were brought for her to try- great service. Very relaxing and enjoyable. We'll return soon. "

  • "Celebrated our 4year wedding anniversary at Buca this past Thursday and I'm glad we did. We had a late reservation and didn't get seated at our reserved time due to other patrons but we were given a glass of Prosecco to help us get through the 10/15mins wait (not a big deal). Our dinner was impeccable. The best bone-in prime rib my husband and I have ever had. The wine selection is broad and the server was very knowledgeable if help was required. We rarely have room for dessert but for a sweet occasion it was worth it. The restaurant was even kind enough to pair our tiramisu with a wonderful dessert wine, on the house! Very kind. Glad to have gone back! It was a memorable evening. "

  • "My friend and I really enjoyed our dinner at Buca. We had been recommended to go there by a client and couldn't have. Been more pleased. A very cool atmosphere, extensive wine list and delectable food all made for a wonderful evening out. Our server and his coworkers were all very attentive, but not obstrusive. They were all charming and well-graced in the art of fine service. We would definitely go back and recommend Buca. I hope to go there again soon for a romantic dinner with my husband. The bread knots and warm marinated olives were a delicious start and we finished our meal with tiramisu (yum) and an out of this world crema fritta. I had to restrain myself for licking the plate! "

  • "The team of servers were fantastic. They looked after all our needs. The meat and cheese plates were exceptional. Greta variety and flavours. We ordered the risotto for two. While tasty I would recommend getting individual entrees as I feel it was not worth the 80 dollar price and I like sharing different entrees with my wife. The wine list and cocktail are top notch. All in all an excellent dining experience for any special occassion. "

  • "Our first visit was about a yr ago, and we were totally wowed. This time, not so much. The food was good, nothing spectacular, but well done and well presented. The noise level is obnoxious, but that is considered "energetic" rather than annoying by most, I guess. However, the service is lackadaisical to say the least. One fellow circulated the room pretty continuously with a water pitcher, so the water glass was always full. But... a large crowd of service people stand by the food pass through all night. We sat for 10 minutes before someone thought to bring a menu, then 20 minutes to study the menu... a good half hour to get the bill at the end. If that assembled crowd of staff were a bit better trained, we'd have left feeling happier."
