A word from Buca
Buca Osteria Enoteca is an Italian restaurant from the King Street Food Company (Jacobs & Co. Steakhouse and The Saint Tavern). The menu aims to combine the ingredient specificity of rustic Italian cuisine with the culinary finesse of fine dining, building recipes around fresh and seasonal produce, but using a number of classical culinary techniques as well. The beautiful and understated main dining room has soaring high ceilings, exposed raw brick, and iron beams - using the natural elements of the heritage building. Towards the back, beyond the open curing room, a smaller wine bar, the Enoteca, is sleek and private. Continued

  • "amazing food as always, but so busy so the service suffered. also thought it was a little overpriced."

  • "Pricey but well worth it. The bigoli pasta was the best pasta I've ever had. Pizza was very light and thin but so flavourful. Wine was excellent, and the service was friendly, knowledgable, personable and made the experience wonderful. Will definitely return!"

  • "Wow! Everything about Buca was wonderful. But the food!! They take Italian food to another level. It was beautiful, artistic, beyond delicious and a true delight. The staff were at a level that does not exist elsewhere in the city - friendly, informed and very professional. GO!"

  • "I came here with my girlfriend for her birthday last weekend. The service was fantastic (after taking 2 sips from water, they come and refill it), the food was mediocre (keep in mind it's very subjective). Atmosphere was very authentic, yet a little intimidating. Being squashed between two other couples that were 10+ years older than us, with very little room between tables, prevents the ability to talk at a medium-level voice. Overall it was a nice place, and I'll consider visiting again."

  • "It was our first time at Buca and we simply fell in love with the place. A modern, Italian-lover ambiance, where everyone welcomes you with a big smile and an Italian accent. Our waiter Simon was very knowledgeable and professional, he made our evening very special. Thank you Buca team!"

  • "Great food, great service and great ambience. This is the winning formula. There is always a buzz at this great restaurant. People are happy to be here because they deliver on all aspects."

  • "Took out a first date here, and between the food, service and atmosphere the experience was on point and I highly recommend to people looking for a romantic night out over fantastic Italian food! From fresh pasta to a endless wine list I was not disappointed at all."

  • "Took my wife for her 38th birthday. Food and service were excellent. Unfortunately, we felt as though we were sitting outside. We literally kept our coats on and were still cold. Brought to the attention of the manager who dismissed us by saying the breeze was from the front door. Not the case. Too bad. Won't go back and would not recommend as a result."

  • "Interesting location and venue, food was great, servers are very good but was a busy Friday night so service was slow. Tables are close together and the noise volume was high...was a little challenging at times. Still would definitely go back :)"

  • "To start the food is excellent, interesting combinations and well executed. Service was glacial, the waitress could not get the orders correct. There was a 40 minute wait between finishing appetizers and getting our win courses (pasta.. which cooks 12-14 minutes!) They charge extra for bread, so you pay 18 for a cheese platter and then have to pay for bread! They will not separate checks for large groups, and finally, the noise level is so high because it's all glass and cement so you cannot hear the person across from you. Food is great but service REALLY needs improvement. I would be slow to go back or recommend"

  • "We went back to this gem for our first anniversary because it was where we had our first date. As we were being seated we noticed that the exact same table was available so we kindly asked if we could sit there and mentioned that we had been here a year ago on our first date. They politely obliged our request. As we sat there they brought over some complementary prosecco and treated us well the whole night making us feel very special. The food was wonderful and the waiter was exceptional!. I would highly recommend this restaurant for your special love. Sincerely, M&S"

  • "One (Russian): Top cuisine for sure! And good company! Enjoyable. Two (Japanese): Good ham and wine. Three (NZer, Canadian): Pizza was great, tasty. Dandelion vege dish a bit odd. Cheese OK. Wine overpriced (alas, as it is at most trendy Toronto restaurants)."

  • "Buca remains a neighbourhood favourite and is always a go to delight for special occasions. Service, good and ambiance are too notch."

  • "This is my second time there and both times the pasta was outstanding, the kind you dream of! We had the ravioli as a starter - divided in half with butternut on one side and duck on the other with a foie gras foam. On the wine, the server made a great suggestion for an Italian white. On the food front he could have been a lot more engaging to help us navigate the menu which I recall the server did the first time we were there and when he did give a suggestion, I couldn't hear or understand him. There is definitely a few things that could be improved (pizza with pork and no cheese had wayyy too much olive oil, the server could have indulged us more on the menu), but overall it is a great place and I would recommend."

  • "We were very pleased with Buca. We had the price fixe menu which is well worth it. It is not often we get to try ingredients we have never had before, and it was delicious. The wine is generally unavailable anywhere else and well selected. The staff are very knowledgeable and pleasant, and timed the food delivery perfectly. We asked for a warm table and were placed in the perfect spot. The interior design is superb - very industrial, but warm. Be prepared for some noise once it fills up. We went at 5:30pm and the noise level was low, however, at that time. We stayed for three hours. We were not rushed and had a delightful evening."

  • "The over-all execution was superb. Table of 4 with the Tasting Menu, Good pace to the service with good pairings. The selection of house cured meats is memorable."

  • "This was a night of firsts! We ordered the Cervello (lamb's brain), Strascinati (hand-made pasta, tomato sauce based, atlantic baccala) and Polpo Pizza (braised octopus). I had no complaints with any of the dishes. The girlfriend was afraid of the lamb's brain at first but it ended up being a tasty appetizer. Service was excellent! They cleared and cleaned the table after each dish. The wait times between each one was pretty consistent. I'll be back here soon!"

  • "Maitre d' was awesome. It was our anniversary and he brought 2 glasses of champagne upon enterance which was lovely. The restaurant itself was lovely- exposed brick walls with beautiful lighting. Our server was alright. He was very prompt and didnt make any mistakes, but he didn't show much of his personality at all and wasn't very memorable for us. The food is good! We had a meat and cheese board which was amazing! Also the eggplant and burrata appetizer was amazing. We ordered the bigoli which was cooked excellently, but felt that there werent many options if you were looking for a main that isn't pizza or pasta. Still, overall we loved the food and will go back for sure."

  • "I went here with 2 friends before going to the theatre. Our waiter was fantastic, we depended on him totally from helping us choose our wine to his recommendation for our food. I felt like they customized our meal to exactly what we were looking for. Fantastic dining experience will definitely return & recommend!"

  • "This restaurant was recommended to me by a friend. He raved about it so I'm not sure if it was just a off night or what not? We (Wife and I) ordered the short ribs main. Ours was lacking serious seasoning; very bland while our friend's was way too salty (I tasted his cause he asked if his taste buds were off). His wife ordered the wild boar pasta and I can honestly say it was nasty (I also tasted it and it had this weird metallic after taste). I told her to return it but she didn't want to cause an issue. So it was a nice evening cause we had not seen these friends in a while but the food was not worth the close $400 we paid that's for sure."

  • "I had been here a couple of years ago and had found the food to be absolutely delicious then. Perhaps this time I was expecting too much but I did not find it quite as good on Sunday. The pizza, although very savoury, was over salty (and I love salt), the celery/celeriac salad was quite bland except for the overly vinegared dressing and the nudi were on the hard side. (Had they been reheated?) I was disappointed, obviously. However the staff were ever helpful, respectful, friendly and efficient - one of the best staffs I have encountered in our city and of course the milieu was ever appealing: love the hanging charcuterie, the jars of preserved fruit, the old factory walls, etc."

  • "Buca is unique in that it offers creative and uncommon Italian cuisine in a cool and hip setting. The pizzas are great and the pastas we tried were delicious. Definitely a hefty price tag for Italian food but the quality can be seen in the ingredients used. While Buca is not my favourite all-around Italian restaurant in Toronto, it is definitely one of the more refined and unique restaurants, and certainly worth a visit."
