Diner Reviews
  • "We enjoyed our meal on a Saturday evening. We made a 7:00 reservation and were seated within minutes. They were very busy but our server was decent and the food came relatively quickly. Bread took longer to get then the meal itself. The meal was ok, warm but not hot, which would have been preferred. We opted not to do dessert because the neighboring table had the Tiramisu and it was barely touched. We asked what they thought and they said it was awful. We overheard them tell the waiter and he laughed and did not try to remedy the situation. In my opinion in NY you can find much better alternatives for Italian. However for the convenience of the location, I would try again."

  • "Have visited this location before, and always find it to be a great experience. Staff is always friendly & attentive, food is delicious!! Had the penne in vodka sauce, best I have ever had. Portions are large; the small, definately can feed 3 adults. Only thing I don't understand is the "happy hour". Seven days a week from 4-7pm, but only if you eat in the bar section??? Let all the diners, take advantage of drink specials, why limit it to diners only seated in the bar area. Other than that, everything was great. You won't be disappointed! Food is excellent, and doesn't taste like a franchise italian restaurant."

  • "We took 7 people and 4 were teens. The food was family style, so we were able to order 3 small entrees and be full by the time we left. After drinks (pop) and tip we ended up paying $15 per person. This is a great price for Times Square sit-down food. I am unsure this is the place for a couple; unless you like the same food to share. I gave a 4 out of 5 on food b/c the Spaghetti was ok; but the Fettuccine and Baked Ziti was much better. Their meatballs were good and huge."

  • "My daughter and I really enjoyed our dining experience here. The restaurant was clean, waiter was friendly and attentive (kept the water filled and checked in with us throughout the meal) and the food tasted wonderful as always."

  • " Everything was great. From the moment we walked in for our reservation we had a great experience. The hostess was very friendly when she greeted us. She sat us down in a nice room and within a few moments our server Aidan was at our table. He is an excellent server . The food was very good, especially the salad! Another server, Tom, was also excellent. It was a very positive experience. I live near Albany and will now visit that location as well with my two boys. They loved it! Thank you for a great dinner experience in NYC. We will always remember it as a highlight of our trip to the big apple."

  • "This is my 5th visit to a Buca, but first time at one in Times Square. Fabulous location, but no views at all of outside. Need to take an elevator up to restaurant. Food very mediocre and prices are much higher here than any other of their locations. Had to ask for bread or would not have had any. There are many much better Italian restaurants close by, like Carmine's or Tony DiNapoli's ,so try to go there first, but in a bind Buca will fill your needs, but nothing to write home about from the Big Apple!"

  • "It has been my third time going to eat at Buca and my second time visiting this one in Times Square, the food was delicious, the service was great because the food did not take long to cook. Only thing that I wish is that the seating could be in a more intimate setting as far as a date for two. My boyfriend of two years and I enjoyed the food very much, but also wish there could have been seating for two or just a booth. This would have made the experience much better."

  • "Overall the experience was good. Waiters & waitresses great. Didn't have to wait for table we made reservation and it was ready. Food arrived timely."

  • "Buca, once again, upholds its reputation for of servings king sized portions at reasonable prices! Hats off to the chef and the service was great! (You rock, Jerry!) And the cocktails are tasty too... I 💜 Buca!"

  • "Ok, I wasn't expecting much, and was kind of surprised to have a perfectly enjoyable meal. Our waiter was nice, guided us through the family portions & sizing, and was fairly attentive. The meatballs were a lot of fun, the chicken pretty good & the salad was big, crunchy & tasty. Garlic bread was only so-so, but maybe should have tried the one with cheese - I mean, why not I guess if we're having all the other stuff :)"

  • "we went for a work good bye lunch and it was perfect for us. They gave us a nice little room for us to have a private lunch. We ordered the family style portions and they were perfect for the group. We had to ask to have the music turned down several times - it was unnecessarily loud. The service was fair. Our waitress was lovely, but it seems shie might have been the only person working. Lots of others standing around, but she seemed to be the only one actually working. It took a long time between salad and main entrees and then again for dessert and check. It was a bit ridiculous. the food was great"

  • "Celebrated my parents birthdays and 4th of July on a first visit to Buca di Beppo. And it was a great experience. Nice facilities with all old Italian photos, great server, great food, really big portions. We were very satisfied"

  • "Our group of 10 business people was able to sit at one table and have conversations without problem. The price was reasonable, especially for NYC and the waitress was very good."

  • "To be fair, I did not know that this was a chain. I was looking for a restaurant near Aladdin and this is what was the closest with OT reservations. The pasta was obviously not fresh and the server was not good either. He kept calling my table of 6 guys...4 of us were of the female gender. I am also not a fan of the family style dining, it does not provide you with the option to taste multiple dishes. All in all if the food was good it would not have mattered but, the was not good so..."

  • "I was a solo diner for dinner but the selection is only from the lunch menu which is very limited. Groups have a much better selection. Food was just ok. I've had better at Olive Garden and Carrabbas."

  • "We needed to find a place to eat before our 8 o'clock show. Our server was amazing and got our food order in and out in record time. I will definitely come back the next time I am in NYC."

  • "A real gem in an area of town where it's hard to find a good place to sit down with friends and family. They take reservations and for 7 or more can give you a semi private room. Family style servings made it feel like we were eating at home."

  • "It's hard to find a decent chain on time square but this one delivers consistent taste and service."

  • "From the moment I made the reservation to paying the bill, dealing with the folks at Bucca was terrific. We had party of 13. They set us up in an area away from the crowds and the manager visited several times to make sure we were ok. The food was plentiful and good and they were able to accommodate various dietary requests. We were able to find a reasonably priced and very drinkable wine for the table. The bill was reasonable and nobody left hungry. Thanks for taking the stress out of planning a large dinner event!"

  • "We shared the cheese manicotti thinking it would be a larger dish but it was a very small portion for the $23 price tag. However, the dish was good and the marinara was absolutely delicious. Our 6 year-old son had a good time too."

  • "Made a reservation for 6:00. When arrived was told they were a little behind on all reservations. Long story short, we were finally seated at 6:50. We were a party of 12, so not easy to take the group to another restaurant. We were seeing an 8:00 show ( and told this to the host when arrived) which was the only reason we were in times Square. We rushed through dinner when finally seated so difficult to rate the food. Terrible experience."

  • "Food was good but menu choices are very limited. A better choice for family style Italian food is Tony's di Napoli. Service was decent but not what I expect from a NYC restaurant."

  • "Came here for a birthday party for two friends. Arrived an hour earlier than reservation but they try to accomdate us ASAP. Food was good " family style". Everyone was stuffed. Staffs sang happy birthday song and gave out individual birthday card for guest. 👍"

  • "This was our first time eating at Buca di Beppo. It's a serviceable choice for Times Square. We had no problem getting a reservation at 6 PM on a Saturday night before going to the theater. Standard Italian fare served family style. The food was consistently good. The place is a chain, and they do things like encourage you to buy their drinks in silly light-up glasses, or get the massive sundae for dessert that feeds the whole table. Our waiter seemed a little perturbed that we didn't opt for any of these things. However, could be fun for a group, and certainly appropriate for families with young children."

  • "While the service was good and staff very accommodating this restaurant is best suited for large groups and out of Towners who are in the Times Square area. Other restaurants that offer similar family style dining are much nicer and a bit more of an adult dining experience "

  • "Amazing atmosphere, very big portions and mean BIG, small serves 2 large serves 4 ... easily, so keep that in mind when ordering, i had one of the best experiences of my life in this restaurant, we ordered espressos and it took something like 10 minutes to come, the manager brought it to the table, apparently the machine broke down, so he went to another restaurant and got us the coffees and because of the wait he even offered a free desert on the house, now that is caring for your guests ... i cannot recommend highly enough, Im a district manager for a big food service chain and i always mention this situation to my managers, really remarkable !!!"

  • "Food was really good - didn't take like eating at a chain. Portions for two can actually feed more than that. They have a kids menu, but could be a little more friendlier for kids. We wanted an extra meatball for a child and was charged $8 for a full meatball - was more than the kids spaghetti & meatball entree!"

  • "We had dinner here after Aladdin with lots of kids and it was perfect. Short walk from the theater. Very accomodating for a large party - took us right on time. Our server was great. Manager stopped by. All in all, reasonably priced and delicious food that kids enjoy. "

  • "Buca di Beppo was a lot of fun. It is festive and the Italian music is playing in the background setting the mood. The food is served family style and was tasty. I was with my four nieces and they loved the whole experience. The best part? The GIANT brownie sundae that came out for dessert. Our server was pleasant and attentive and the price was very affordable. I would definitely go back with a group."

  • "Don't let the busy Times Square location or the fact that you take an elevator to the 3rd Floor above Planet Hollywood fool you. Once you arrive, you are transformed. It's like having a home cooked Italian meal at your grandma's home. The staff are friendly. You will be greeted and seated in one of the many smaller dining rooms. It's an intimate feel. Even the neighboring tables may strike up a conversation about the décor or the food. It's all fun. You can actually have a conversation here. Be sure to make a reservation. Save room for desert. Since the portions are generous, you make take home some leftovers which heat up great for lunch or another meal. I have been to Buca many times and will return."

  • "Group of 12 - arrived and we wanted the round table. Staff quickly modified to grant us our desire for the round table...which is much easier for communicating with everyone. Service was excellent and the food as always is amazing. For a group of 12 the pricing is excellent when footing the bill for everyone and we get to try a bunch of different dishes. Bucca is our favorite family-style Italian restaurant."
