  • "We always come to Buca for group occasions. The food is great, plentiful, price-break is great for groups and the service is great. The pictures on the wall are always a great conversation piece every time I come to this restaurant whether in LA, or SD. "

  • "Went with family and friends for my fiancé's birthday dinner. I was able to preorder my meal for the group, which saved a lot of hassle I believe. I appreciated that. Good was good, ambiance was good, we had a really fun time there. Will definitely go back. "

  • "It was the first time I invited my children and my wife to dine at Buca Di Beppo. We enjoyed the friendly environment, the kitchen tour, and more importantly the food we ate. My family and I love the the "Lasagna, the Apple Gorgonzola Salad, the Chicken Glorioso, the Spicy Arrabiatta, and the Tiramsu as our dessert. I definitely invite my family back to dine again Buca Di Beppo to try other dishes."

  • "We went here for a family gathering and found the place to be very busy and over the top loud. Food was good, nothing special, but our waiter appeared to be over worked and seemed bothered with our large group. We had to ask repeatedly for drinks and when we did he often forgot to bring them back. I don't think we would come back to this place, at least this location. We have been to the same place in different cities and found them to be much better."

  • "We went to Buca di peppo expecting great food and service, but was very disapointed. Compared to my other experience with this resturant, I will not be thinking about Buca Di Peppo when I am craving Italian food. Our meatballs were dried and chewy. We ordered bake ziti and they brought out the wrong order. When the back ziti came out, it was not good! I expected better food and better service for the amount of money I paid to dine there. Huge portions, but poor quality."

  • "I was the best man for my old friend. I wanted it to be very special you know? My past experience's at your Santa Monica & Downtown San Diego locations were quite memorable! I had my Bachelor party back in 2002 and it was nothing short of awesome. I still have the empty bottle of Chianti displayed proudly in my office! Our server/waitress was named Shelby. She took our drink orders, then our food order. We all were enjoying the cheerful banter. 15 minutes go by, then 25! We haven't been served our drinks! We were being ignored. I wasn't done with my 1st serving and she wanted to box it up! Why were we being rushed! The place not even half full! We all felt that we were treated like second class citizens! Wewill NEVER return to your place!"

  • "I had reservation for dinner last Thursday, when we were there, we had to wait more then 10 minutes even there were not many people before we can sit down. The waitress was slow and not supportive. Very bad experience."

  • "Portions are plentiful, but should be considering what is charged. Everything is charged per small or large serving with our 2 small bowls (for 2-3) running $18.99 each and a salad for $12.99. Bread should be included, but it was charged 8.99! Family Style serving, but this really drives up the price as you want more than one plate. Our dinner for 3 ran over $70 with no wine or cocktails. This was 2 very basic pasta dishes, a very simple & over dressed Caesar salad and bread. Our waitress was training someone, and he was just a bit too anxious to clear the table and get us going even though it was early and there were very few people there. My suggestion: go to Olive Garden for better variety and a MUCH lower tab!!!!"

  • "My boyfriend and I came in because we've never been before though we've lived in Mira Mesa all out lives. We came in with a reservations and was lead through a little tour of the kitchen and was seated in a big booth near the bar. Service was good. Then my thing about buca was the pasta entree, we got the spicy chicken and the pasta wasn't cooked enough, I like my pasta al dente, but this pasta was undercooked. We also got the eggplant entree which was decent. The portions were definitely too much for two people, getting 2 smalls. Next time if we come back, we'll probably get one small and try the garlic bread. Or just go for dessert or go in big group."

  • "Decided to take my girlfriend out for dinner here for our 5th year anniversary. Made a reservation online for 7pm. Arrived at 6:55 to check in, didn't get seated until 7:30! What's the point of making a reservation at a specific time when you don't get seated AT THAT TIME? Food was ok, although it was way too expensive. You do get a ton of food so I can see how this place is only good for big groups. Can get better Italian food elsewhere for cheaper."

  • "This was an expensive meal with fair or slow service. Avis, always looking to improve! Well Buca di Beppo, needs to take a page from Avis! Six people at our table and we all got our first drink at different times. My Strawberry Margarita, tasted more like a Watermelon drink. Another guess had Italian Margarita, neither of us were able to finish our drinks... Two glasses of wine, then was told restaurant had run out of this popular wine. Our food was basically just shoved onto our table. We decided to share dishes so our table was in need of some, creative arranging which was left to us to arrange! We also had to stack up our own dishes in order to make room. Those dishes sat on our table for over ten minutes before they were removed!"

  • "Our dining experience was outstanding overall except that a couple of our guests found a strand of hair in one of the entrees we ordered. However, the food was great and service, too especially our waitress was accommodating. Her name was Victoria."

  • "As always we enjoyed the meal, but the service was a little slow for a Wednesday evening and the table right next to us was way too loud for us to carry on decent conversations"

  • "We celebrated my wife's 40th birthday here and it turned out perfect! There were 13 of us and we were seated in the "Pope" room. The service from our waiter Mike was excellent! He was funny and very helpful. He even helped me with a surprise for my wife by bringing her s special card (I had dropped off earlier in the day) when the time was right. The food was excellent and I was happy to see the bill since it was not as much as I would have figured for 13 people to eat and LOTS of leftovers!! I'd definitely come back for any occasion."

  • "The noise level ant this restaurant is ridiculous. Not the patrons, but the constant screaming of the wait staff for birthdays. The service and food is good, but be prepared to come in for a long dinner, the food takes a long time out of the kitchen."

  • "I almost always use Buca for birthday get- togethers because my family is so large. Food is always consistently tasty, staff is very accomodating."

  • "We had a great time. My son's birthday is on Valentine's day but we don't go out on that day. We decided to celebrate on the 22nd. We invited his grandma, brothers, and some friends. We all had a lot of fun and the food was delicious. The service was great. Our waiter Kyle checked on us often and our food came out soon. We will definitely go back. Fun place to go with a group."

  • "What can I say. I made the mistake of bringing a date here last minute. Our waiter was clueless and our food came out before our drinks. In fact the food came out so quickly that I don't see how it was from our order. The food looked like something from the frozen food section at Vons. Vastly overpriced. Really the only positive thing I have to say about this place is that in our haste to exit the nightmare my date left her phone at the table and the hostess had it when we went back inside. This would be a good place to bring a clinger girl that you are trying to get rid of."

  • "Brought 3 friends to dinner and the four of us ordered the portions for two. Enjoyed the Buca salad. Light dressing. The veal was tender with a caper/lemon sauce. We got the spinach stuffed shells and they were a great compliment to the veal. We ordered the dessert plate with tiramisu, cheesecake, Italian cake and a decadent chocolate. We ate our fill, took it home, ate some more and still have leftovers! We'll be coming back here soon."

  • "The taste and ambience was okay. It was noisy and with tables close to each other. The biggest problem was the food and it's pice. Each dish is for a group of 3-4 and there were no smaller portions. Olive Garden has better ambience, taste and portion size. This was the first time I went to this restaurant and this would be the last."

  • "Loved the atmosphere...very friendly staff...they gave us a tour of the kitchen which was really unexpected..definitely would go back and have a dinner seat for me and my girlfriend in the kitchen"

  • "Our service was not up to par. We had to ask for things that should have been automatically brought to us like bread, butter, sugar for coffee, water, coffee refills. The food could have been served hotter. Suspect our waiter did not pick up the order right away when it was ready."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "I understand that this is a great and fun place to, It really is. We had such a good time. However, for pasta, chicken, salad and a couple of appetizers, we didn't expect our bill to be $200 for six people, one of them being a five year old and another being a vegetarian who didn't really eat all that much ;) It was a lot of fun and I'm sure I'll go back again but it's just Italian food, what's up with the prices?"

  • "Loved the Margherita pizza and after splitting a delicious salad with hubby I was happy to have leftover pizza to take home, but the waitress packed it so sloppy with the topping against the crust it would have been ruin for the way I like to reheat it (in toaster oven) if I had not checked tha packing. I would have preferred to get the "to go" box and packed it myself. Everything else was fine...a bit noisy, but parents need somewhere to get out with their little ones, I guess. Next time I will keep my hands on my leftover pizza and just ask for the "to go" box. =)"

  • "Buca is always a good casual place for Italian food. The food is good, basic Italian, the family-style portions ensure that no one goes hungry, and there always seems to be a coupon or special offer that makes it an even better bargain. Perfect Open Table restaurant because without a reservation it can be a long wait."

  • "We live in the mountains of San Diego, so it's quite a drive to go to "town." We were already heading in for a bowling birthday party in the Mira Mesa area and decided to have dinner nearby. I made our reservations online the morning of, and had our booth ready just like we wanted when we got there. It was just about effortless to use the online reservation, making my first time experience using the site easy and pleasant. The staff at Buca Di Beppo were so polite & happy from the moment we walked in and until we left. The food was excellent and portions were generous. Our only regret is not leaving room for the yummy looking deserts!"

  • "Two friends and I had reservations and were seated on time. We went on Sunday and weren't aware that the single portions for lunch aren't available on weekends. Our server consulted with the chef and we were able to make single choices from a certain part of the menu which made us happy. The food was great! We were able to have a leisurely lunch without feeling we were being rushed."

  • "Our waitress, Rachel, is a gem and made the experience fun. We all enjoyed the Apple Gorgonzola Salad (cheese on the side b/c I am vegan) although it needed less oil and more lemon juice/vinegar. My mom and husband shared spaghetti with meatballs. They reported it was only lukewarm and needed more spice. Both enjoyed the Mozzarella Garlic Bread. I asked Rachel to ask the kitchen to make a vegan spaghetti option for me with only a little oil. What I got was steaming hot spaghetti and veggies cooked to *perfection* with a wonderful amount of garlic but it was drowning in oil. It would have been excellent if less oily. The Apple Crostata was overly sweet. Espresso coffee was lukewarm. Atmosphere is loud and fun loving, great for a large party."

  • "Buca di Beppo was a great find we recently discovered. Its a great place to bring the whole family or a group of friends and catch up while you eat which the atmosphere supports well. The food is very good and very reasonably priced. The important part to understand is that it is served "family style" which means the portions are huge. My wife and I had a main dish of pasta with a side dish of spaghetti figuring at least the main dish was enough for 2 and we'd have leftovers. I'm a big guy and I'd say the main dish was enough for at least 3 so we have plenty of leftovers. The service was really good and the overall experience was fantastic. Highly recommend it!"
