After going to buffets for years, we decided to do something different and having lunch at Buca di Beppo was wonderful. We could smell the magnificent aroma of the marinara and other wonderful dishes coming outside of the restaurant. We have yet to find a dish we didn't like. The service is fabulous and the atmosphere is like being back in Italy. When we are in Honolulu traveling from the Big Island this is a must do restaurant.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food, but too noisyThis was my first visit to Buca di Beppo in Kaka'ako. I took a close friend there for a Mother's Day lunch. Service and food were excellent - we ordered eggplant parmigiana, pasta, apple salad and cannoli. I can also recommend the cream soda! The decor and ambiance are generally very good but the noise level was much too high. It was hard to carry on a conversation. This might be a good place for a large group or a party, but not if you're hoping to catch up on news with your friends. However, the food was excellent! The eggplant and the salad were especially delicious. Portions are huge so we had plenty of leftovers. I will definitely go to this restaurant again and hope it will be quieter next time.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome Food!If you love Italian food then you will love Buca di Beppo! All family style dishes which means. Order a couple of things and the family is set on food. The hardest part is going be deciding what you want to eat because it's all so good! We always find ourselves getting the Eggplant Parm. We tried the sausage and peppers for a side dish this last time and it was wonderful! She was visiting from Osaka, Japan. The staff made her feel very special. It was our anniversary, so she took extra care to make us feel "honored", and was very informative of the menu. I wanted something a little different from the menu, and she eagerly accomodated my request. She was helpful to my husband in making his local beer choice. The one thing I was not too fond of was the roving photographer. Not the idea of the photography, but this one in particular seemed to have difficulty understanding English and you had to repeat every question you asked her, and she was devoid of personality. All in all, this was a great experience with great food and dynamic service.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMBuca di Peppo recommended!This was my 2nd time to Buca di Peppo. We went for Easter Sunday brunch. We had a booth reserved for 10 people, thankfully 3 people did not show up as we would have not been comfortable with 5 people on each side! The waiter was great, professional, friendly and running around for all his tables. The food was good, just like the first time I had eaten there. One uncle said it's his favorite place to eat out, and he doesn't really like to eat out, so that's saying a lot. The portions are huge, of course. Nicole our server was exceptional, friendly, efficient, and totally professional. We have been there before and took another couple with us that has never been. They were so impressed they told us this will now become their favorite regular restaurant and they can't wait to come back. My friends didn't like that the Chicken Marsala was sweet instead of savory. At least the chicken was cooked properly & was not dried out. My favorite was the Quatro formaggio. All four dishes were great! I would order that again for sure! The Shrimp Florentine was ok also. Too bad we didn't have room for dessert!
