A word from Bub City
RJ, Jerrod and Molly, in conjunction with partners chef Doug Psaltis and mixologist Paul McGee, have created their own destination for country music lovers to enjoy a cocktail, grab a bite and have some fun.

Chef Psaltis created Bub City’s new menu with a focus on authentic barbecue. Signature items include Burnt Ends, Baby Back Ribs, Carolina Style Pulled Pork and 18 hr. Beef Brisket. Large groups can enjoy the “Whole Pork Picnic” featuring Slow-Smoked Pork Shoulder served with four sides.

Nationally-acclaimed mixologist and partner Paul McGee has brought innovation to the cocktail menu at Bub City. McGee spent months finding a collection of whiskey, and now Bub City boasts a bar offering more than 125 selections.

Diner Reviews
  • "Our visit to the Bub City was very enjoyable. The service was very, very good and the food was very tasty!!"
    Dined on 7/10/2014
  • "I made a reservation for a friend's birthday, table for 8. When they confirmed the reservation with me that morning someone was supposed to tell me "a majority of your party must be at Bub City to be seated." Unfortunately no one did tell me that and since our group was coming from work at different times we did not have a majority for well over 45 minutes. I understand the policy but it should be more clearly stated in the OpenTable reservation and when they confirm. Also, once seated our waitress was not attentive and took a long time to turn around our orders. I appreciate how busy they are and enjoy Bub City but the service needs some work."

  • "If you like barbeque food and bourbon, you will love this place. The food is very good. The brisket is tender, the ribs meaty, and the side dishes tasty. They also have over 100 kinds of whiskey. The only issues I came across were the noise level and the fact that the menu is ala carte. But its got a cool vibe to it so the noise isn't too bad."

  • "Great comfort food, Chicken wings are the bomb! Great casual atmosphere with country music too!"

  • "The St Louis style ribs are almost impossibly good! Bub City is a fun favorite, perfect for an out-of-the-ordinary date night. Great summer vibes (which can be a nice relief from the Chicago winters). Make a late reservation and stay for live music!"

  • "Yum! First of all, love the atmosphere. The decor reminds me of a roadhouse-American flag made of beer cans, country music, Christmas lights-really fun. I imagine the garage doors are open on a warm day. It is very loud so conversation is hard with anyone other than your neighbor. Food is delicious! The Brussels sprout salad was so good and a great option for a vegetarian or someone wanting to eat light. The giddy up fries are ridiculously good-basically nachos with waffle fries instead of chips, pulled pork, cheese, jalapeños-amazing! My son was very happy with the pulled pork sandwich. We also had the burnt ends. Did not finish those. Everything else was too good to leave on the plate. Ladies must check out the restroom! A+!"

  • "The noise level was so terribly high, it precluded any normal conversation or enjoyment of the food -- unfortunately"

  • "Food was very good and came out hot and cooked to order. What we didn't appreciate was the table next to us where a table for four had about 10 people milling about and getting too close to us and making it difficult to eat an have a conversation. It took the restaurant a long time to finally get this large group to a larger table and it was only because they requested it. The waiter should have told the table that they couldn't have people around the table like that. Very unprofessional in a restaurant."

  • "While the food is decent and reasonably priced BBQ, the scene that they are trying to create for this place is just silly. The music level for a 5:30 Saturday night resi caused my table of four to be practically shouting at one another. We had to always flag down our waiter for a refill on our water, to order another round of drinks, and to ask where our appetizer was. When our appetizer showed up after the dinner we were comped the cost of the fried pickles. Big whoop. I live in the neighborhood and would order take-out from this place but have no intensions of returning to dine in. I’d skip this place and look for a better, more enjoyable spot, where they don’t blast the music and can actually remember my food order."

  • "Food was good and menue wasn't too expansive. Staff was great. Good hip BBQ scene...watched the USA World Cup game, good viewing. Great crowd."
    Dined on 6/26/2014
  • "The food was good, but the service we had was awful."
    Dined on 6/22/2014
  • "The service was prompt and friendly and the food came out fast and was very respectable. I can't say it was the best ever, but Overall I give it the thumbs up."

  • "Excellent food and service. Food was delicious and the attention to our service needs was just right. Will be back."

  • "Very cool spot, a bachelor party there. Brisket was amazing. Very cool service and everyone was super helpful. Sound system is incredible."

  • "I am a Chicago native that has lived in Nashvegas for the last 8 years. I thought I was home, while at home. This was loud, country, Nashville like fun and great food. I could have been anywhere on 2nd or Broadway and the girls were almost as cute. Entre's were great. Sides great. Beer cold. Wine list small (but it is a country bar). I had been to the original Bub's over a decade ago and it was larger, by memory, but this smaller version is well done and I would recommend it to anyone missing the South, in need of some country or just wanting a good time. It will satisfy all of those needs, as well as a fully satisfied stomach."

  • "Don't pass on this place. Awesome service, great food and a great bloody mary bar. The bloody mary bar had perhaps the most extensive selection of garnishes for your bloody mary that I have ever seen."
    Dined on 6/21/2014
  • "We were in the restaurant early (noon), it was a comfortable conversational volume. The good was good, my guests enjoyed their meals."
    Dined on 6/16/2014
  • "Excellent food and service. Bub city has it all plusgreat live country music to top it off"
    Dined on 3/17/2014
  • "The restaurant is on the small side and we were packed in. The waitress did not seem to know what she was doing and had to bring back our food a couple of times for getting the order wrong. If you go and get the spicy fried chicken you can not go wrong."
    Dined on 6/15/2014
  • "great service, great bloody mary bar (best in the city), great music"
    Dined on 6/8/2014
  • "For a southern girl like me, it feels like going home to Texas or Nashville. Live music for Sunday Brunch, plus the Bloody Mary bar, is just what I needed."
    Dined on 6/8/2014
  • "The food here was very good. I had the pulled pork sandwich with tater tots. There was so much meat I had to pull some off so I could actually eat the sandwich. The tater tots were crispy on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside - perfect! They were served with a side of ranch which was good too."

  • "We really liked food+the atmosphere. The one bad thing was the air conditioner was broken-so we were really hot! They should have more fans working as it was in the 80's...."
    Dined on 5/31/2014
  • "Food was amazing and service was quick and friendly. Thanks again!"
    Dined on 5/30/2014
  • "Some of the best ribs in town. Excellent barbeque and hefty drinks. Honky tonk atmosphere. But it's loud! Ear splitting loud. For the young or at the very least, young at heart."
    Dined on 5/28/2014
  • "If you embrace country music & fun-loving crowds, head to Bub City. The crispy chicken wings were delicious. Unfortunately the baby back ribs were very dry. They have a side dish of sweet potato pie topped with melted marshmallows. Definately worth the calories & big enough to share. If you only went just for that dish, it's well worth it. The decorations are kinda Christmasy, but charming. Don't miss the American flag made out of beer cans. Went there to celebrate my birthday & was treated to a homemade peanut butter cream pie. It was excellent. For a noisy fun night out, this is the place to go."

  • "Simply one of the most enjoyable experiences I have had in a long time...if you like BBQ and sports...its an absolute must. I took my wife and daughter (neither of who is a sports nut) and they absolutely loved it as well!"

  • "LOVE Bub City! They're food is some of the best BBQ/southern style food in Chicago. But I have to say, don't go on a night when the Hawks are playing! We made this mistake the other night, brought friends from out-of-town and the experience is totally different from a standard night at Bub City. No country music, and the game is deafeningly loud. But, if you're looking to eat truly awesome food and watch a Hawks game then definitely go to Bub! "

  • "Service was great! Food was just ok. It was so noisy I felt like I had to scream in order to have a conversation!"
    Dined on 5/10/2014
  • "Very fun and current place to be - food is good, cocktails are creative. Our only problem was were seated on the main floor and were literally surrounded by people standing with drinks, waiting for open tables, going to and from the bar. It was a little disruptive and weird to be bumped by purses and people walking around us while we ate... will definitely request a table on the periphery next time! "

  • "Good food and good music. Also a good place for live music"
    Dined on 5/10/2014
  • "Will keep this short & sweet.....Bub City is FANTASTIC! We went on 'Taco Tuesday' and they truly were the best Tacos we ever had. For Dessert we had friends who recommended the Peanut Butter Chocolate Pie....WOW! Best Dessert EVER....for real. So glad we found this spot...service was prompt, all were friendly, professional and can't wait to go back!"

  • "I have loved this place since it opened for the bar scene and drinks, it is always a blast and the live music has never let me down. I have been pleasantly surprised with the food though, especially being a vegetarian (actually pescatarian) in a bbq place! I always get the salmon and honestly, they cook it better than a lot of the seafood places in the city. Ambiance is always great as well."
    Dined on 4/27/2014
  • "While this establishment is probably more known for later night stop-ins due to the live entertainment, it had an excellent uncrowded atmosphere for lunch with all the same awesome barbeque!"
    Dined on 5/5/2014
  • "Food was delicious! Only slight issue was that once we received our bill, we felt rushed. We weren't comfortable to just sit and talk and listen to the band, instead the waitress kept coming back trying to get us out."
    Dined on 5/4/2014
  • "Food-wise, it would be good fit in a higher end food court. As a bar, it's a good bar. As a restaurant, it's a good bar. The people at the host stand were snotty, which is just silly in a BBQ joint/CW bar. The servers were nice. The food was a couple notches above appalling. I will not return. "

  • "I've been to Bub City for dinner and for brunch. Dinner was great and there was a country band playing, which I loved because I feel like I'm one of the few country music lovers in the city. Food was great too and not too pricey for the area. I absolutely loved brunch here. I went on a Saturday at 11am and I made a reservation, but it wasn't very crowded. The Bloody Mary bar was my favorite part. They had so many toppings and even mini grilled cheese sandwiches for your drink too. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for great comfort food and a good time."

  • "The freid chicken and mac n cheese are my favorite! They have bands on weeknights and it gets loud (which I love)! Food is great, service could be better but it is sooo worth it! "
