Diner Reviews
  • "Perfect spot overlooking Bryant Park! Great food too!"

  • "Our party of 5 really enjoyed the Bryant Park Grill. Our server was professional and friendly. The food was prepared perfectly. We loved sitting in the back area of the outdoor dining space. It was shaded and away from the pedestrian traffic along the park. We loved it and will be back."

  • "Sadly our server would not respond with basics like salt and pepper requests among others that we had to ask other staff to help us. Normally I've had great experiences but this one was very lacking. Table was great. Food was great."

  • "thye food was delicious! plus the outdoor seating in Bryant park makes all the difference. great place for dinner and for a date - somewhere to impress but not trying to hard"

  • "Attentive service. Memorable food. That warm feeling that as you are leaving, you know that you will return for another satisfying experience."

  • "A tranquil yet vibrant slice of New York. The lunch highlight of my visit to New York. The place is empty at 11:30 and full at Noon. Get there a bit early for a tale by the window."

  • "Have been coming here for years... Great food, service and views to match ..!"

  • "Wonderful waitstaff, atmosphere. Caesar salad was very good but too much dressing (my mistake for not asking to be light on the dressing) - husband had fish and chips which was delicious. Overall a really nice lunch."

  • "I've eaten at this restaurant on several occasions and had always had a great dining experience. This time, however, the menu had changed ( not in an improved way)....it was expensive, food was fair and service was just ok. This is also the first time I had seen the restaurant practically empty at Sunday Brunch. I won't rush back there."

  • "Was surprised to find open table reservation was for indoor dining only. Outside is apparently first come etc. Found this out when they called to confirm. Obviously on a sunny day in August the reason you go to the Bryant Park Grill is to sit outside. As it turned out they had availability outside so all was well. Very pleasant dining experience."

  • "Bryant Park Grill sits in a beautiful park very close to Times Square. The ambiance is lovely, with many outside shaded tables and a nice inside as well. My Cobb salad was loaded with so much shrimp, that I actually left some on the plate! There is no pre show special price, so it was a pricey lunch (and you can make a reservation). However, on the other side of the Grill is the Bryant Park Cafe, which also had a nice outside eating area, and a less expensive menu ( no reservations accepted there)."

  • "My husband and I had brunch at Bryant Park Grill during a recent trip to New York, and we were both disappointed. My Eggs Benedict was overcooked, to the point that the eggs resembled hard-boiled more than poached. My husband's scrambled eggs were likewise overcooked, and everything seemed like it had been sitting under a heat lamp instead of being cooked to order. If you want a meal with a nice view, you're better off getting takeout from somewhere good and walking to the park with it. This place is gross."

  • "Waiter had a terrible attitude...barely checked on us."

  • "My sister has wanted to go this restaurant ever since she first saw it and we finally managed to go. Restaurant was quite loud; service was good food was good and good value. Beautiful restaurant with wall of windows overlooking Bryant park"

  • "The food is not the reason to go to Bryant Park but it's fine. The ambiance is superb, particularly in good weather. Dining alfresco ... Not overlooking traffic ... But overlooking the park ... is spectacular ... And, the park is always full if people of all ages (in good weather). This week Broadway performers from musicals entertained. How great is that!!! Glorious day."

  • "food is so-so, salad and seafood quality are mediocre but the ambiance is nice."

  • "Great place in a green park in the middle of Manhattan, walking distance from the Empire. Romantic at ground level, happy hour on the roof. It worth to try."

  • "Such a nice alternative to all of the Times Square chain restaurants and hustle and bustle! We had a lovely, leisurely lunch before our show. I would recommend at least 1.5 hours though so you can relax and enjoy the meal. Can't wait to go back."

  • "It was a pleasure to spend an evening here. The food was delicious, the wait staff pleasant and knowledgeable, and it was great to be outdoors with a beautiful view of Bryant Park. It was like a bit of Paris without the long trip to get there."

  • "Wonderful experience as always. Whether you want to have a business meeting or just have a wonderful view, this is the place to be."

  • "We sat on the roof on a perfect ny city summer day. Not too hot not to windy, and had a lovely view And lunch."

  • "I had dinner on the upper patio of the Bryant Park Grill with my out of town family who came for a visit. The food was great and the patio has a perfect view of Bryant Park. We were able to sit there and eat/drink/talk without feeling like we were being rushed. The staff was all very friendly and personable. I look forward to returning soon."

  • "Decent service, once the waiter showed up at our table. Food was mediocre and over priced for the quality. We mentioned that we were going to the theater and had to watch the time. Food came very quickly-almost too quickly, like they grabbed someone else's order that had been sitting out."
    Dined on 8/7/2014
  • "I have been to the restaurant many times and always had a good meal (everything form a special burger or the chicken sandwich at lunch to the staek frites, the organic spring chicken, or the various seafood dishes). What makes the restaurat even more enjoyable is the opportunity to sit on the patio and enjoy what is going on in Bryant Park in the summer."

  • "I chose BPG for a client dinner, and it was perfect. We were able to sit outside, and it was fun for my clients - who are not from NYC. The service was great - the server allowed us to linger without any problem after dinner, when we were just talking. The food was delicious!"

  • "It's rare that a beautiful restaurant in a park setting has really good food at reasonable prices (by NY standards). Service is always good. Wines by the glass are much better than at many restaurants. And, the setting (inside and out) is wonderful. One thing - once it fills up, the noise levels can get high because you are surrounded by so much glass. If noise bothers you, go early. Or in mid-summer when the dinner crowds are lighter. It's worth it."

  • "not exactly romantic, IMO, but a solid bet for lunch (make a reservation). The dining room used to be noisier, I'm not sure if they installed some accoustical controls to minimize that, but on my most recent visit I was actually able to conduct a conversation with my colleagues. Overpriced for what it is, it's good for work related lunches but for my personal life I'd rather spend that money somewhere less corporate-y. Food is somehow much better than what they serve at the Cafe."

  • "They say that there was a screw up in the kitchen, but it took way too long to get our food. once it came, the food was very good. They did buy our drinks which was nice. But no one said anything to us until we complained about how long it was taking."

  • "Bryant Park Grille is a great place to meet for lunch or dinner. It was perfect for our family get-together and is centrally located. The food is very good and the service and ambiance, excellent."

  • "Inside this grill you'll find a subdued atmosphere, sophisticated vintage music, and nice food. It's a tad expensive, but this is NYC and you have a very pleasant view. However, a few hours after brunch my friends and I returned for an early dinner at the much more casual outdoor deck (which I suppose is affiliated with the cafe). It seemed to be a bit less pricy and was just as nice. I loved the ceviche!! And it's just so fun to watch people in the park; a nice urban oasis."

  • "Always a great meal! Thank you for being a reliable meal after all these years."

  • "It is tough to beat the location. It is lovely to dine in the park. It is the most spacious place in that section of mid-town. The food is good but the pricey if you aren't on your expense account. The noise level is very high making it difficult to hold a conversation unless you are at a table for two."

  • "Nice place, good food, fast service.... All you need is good friends at your table!"

  • "The lessor of the evils for a business lunch. Noisy and the food is passable."

  • "BPG is always a beehive of activity. The menu is expansive, the food is good. Nice out door cafe in the summer months."

  • "Food's OK, but the scene is awesome any time of year....gotta do at least once!"
    Dined on 7/27/2014
  • "I haven't been to this restaurant in years and went twice this week for a business dinner and a lunch. Both were excellent. When making your reservation, be sure to request a quiet table if you need to talk and not have to speak louder than casual conversation level to be heard. This is not unusual in NYC. The service was outstanding, attentive, without being intrusive. Waiter checking in was always timed conveniently when mouths were not full and drinks were close to empty but not too close. Food was delicious, beautifully presented, a good variety and appropriate proportions for moderate appetites (which is important to be able to enjoy an appetizer, main course and a dessert without feeling disgustingly full!) All around a sure bet."
