Diner Reviews
  • "I haven't been to this restaurant in years and went twice this week for a business dinner and a lunch. Both were excellent. When making your reservation, be sure to request a quiet table if you need to talk and not have to speak louder than casual conversation level to be heard. This is not unusual in NYC. The service was outstanding, attentive, without being intrusive. Waiter checking in was always timed conveniently when mouths were not full and drinks were close to empty but not too close. Food was delicious, beautifully presented, a good variety and appropriate proportions for moderate appetites (which is important to be able to enjoy an appetizer, main course and a dessert without feeling disgustingly full!) All around a sure bet."

  • "Was a little skeptical about this place for food, but we were pleasantly surprised that not only was the service, view and ambience wonderful, the food was as well! Super tasty and creative lamb kebaps, lovely seasonal kale salad with grilled peaches, freshly made olive rolls, and delicious prosecco made for a light and yummy lunch. Would do it again!"

  • "Food was ok, too expensive for what we got. Restaurant was also entirely too noisy. Felt like we were yelling across the table to eachother."

  • "The food here is fine-lots of selection, competently prepared, something for everyone. The problem for me was that I couldn't hear the people across the table from me at a 6 top. It was deafening. This is the second time I've been here and the second time noise was a problem. There won't be a third."

  • "Inside noise level made it very difficult to hear people speaking. I would recommend eating outside."

  • "What a treat in Bryant park. Food was great. We ate inside and the decor is vibrant and fun. Plenty of outdoor seating as well. A little pricey though but great venue. Will def return."

  • "Just the view alone is worth going to the Brunch at Bryant Park Grill; however, the menu options were abundant, the service top notch and the food excellent. We also found the price to be a bargain for what you get. We loved it and are looking forward to going again."

  • "Outdoor table for four was too small to comfortably accommodate our party. Food was mediocre and service was slow and neglectful."

  • "Good food, a little overpriced, reasonable ambience. Would recommend other Aussies to go there"

  • "The food was delicious and you can't beat the view of Bryant Park, especially in the outdoor seating area. Service seemed slightly slow during parts of the meal, but the staff was very friendly and on top of most things."

  • "Delightful location , great service and very comfortable setting , decor and view. .. The food sounds great but matching what's on the menu and what's on the plate seems to be a huge challenge in New York. Every dish sounded exquisite but was obviously prepared by a cook rather than a chef. Everything else about this is really good but food should never let down a restaurant. Here the food disappoints .."

  • "t is difficult to give this restaurant a fair rating due to the inferior service we received. From the moment we sat down our waiter made us feel as though we were putting him out. He never returned until it was time to present us with a check (our food was delivered by runners). My crab cake was very nice - nearly all crab and very little filler - and it had a nice mustard (not overwhelming) vinaigrette. A small green salad complimented this appetizer. My sister in law enjoyed her tuna taco, (4 small tacos artfully arranged in avocado puree) which had a nice spice without being overwhelming; also had one of their special salads that included figs and nuts. Outdoor dining is outstanding. However will not return due to horrendous service."

  • "Best place to eat outdoor in nyc.Do not take prestigious food it is not worty. Take just something and apreciate the place. Service must be better."

  • "Beautiful Friday evening dining outside with good food and drink = priceless. Beautiful setting within Bryant Park is matched with a full selection of seasonal offerings. Gazpacho was a nice balance between spice and taste, mussels were plentiful and done in a Thai sauce, brisket sliders tasty and leave room for the peanut butter, chocolate s'mores! Nice way of ending an evening!"

  • "When meeting friends from various suberbs, the location can't be beat. The service is professional and appropriate, without being overly attentive. The food is fine. The dining room is lovely. However ... this time of the year, dining on the patio adjacent to the the park with umbrellas to shade the sun ... is heavenly. The park is filled with people. It could be anyplace in Paris or Rome. The fact that it's New York City is amazing ... to see New Yorkers, s l o w down and enjoy a siesta in this sweet park is a treat in itself."

  • "I went with a friend and we had high hopes. The previous week, we had gone to Bryant Park Cafe and the food was great! We were severely let down when we sat down at Bryant Park Grill, ordered, and both our meals were out in less than 5 minutes. Our meals were definitely not cooked to order. I had a $20 chicken sandwich that was dry, luke warm, and was clearly just heated up and brought out. If I wanted reheated chicken, I'd have gone to a bodega and made one from the hot bar. At least it would have been a quarter the price for the same quality food. Super disappointed. We looked forward to it all week and spent less than 30 minutes dining. Being seated, eating, paid and out in less than 30 minutes. We practically ran out."

  • "Great place for after dinner drinks, desserts or something extra to snack on. The menu is extensive and there are lots of great options if you looking for a great dinner. We found that getting a table outside after an early dinner somewhere else can lead to great conversation and great drinks."

  • "Once seated, we had to flag down what turned out to be the manager to be acknowledged. Must say she was very good, she should pass on some of her skills to her staff. She took our order and food showed up inside of the time needed to cook it...not sure how that works! Good microwave I guess. Very nice setting and that is about it."

  • "Although the food was lovely, I felt freezing cold throughout the whole meal and it was a relief to finish and warm up outside! We did ask for the air con to be turned down, as did someone else on another table, but I still felt uncomfortable. Service was ok. Small things like keeping your used knife from your starter for your main - is that really necessary? I am certain that perhaps you could get similar in another restaurant for a more reasonable price also."

  • "While the food was FANTASTIC -- get the duck (I substituted fingerling for polenta) -- TOO NOISY! For such an elegant restaurant (eaten their many times before) the noise level was way too high!! Otherwise -- wait staff excellent, beautiful decor, love the park out the windows, convenient to Broadway shows."

  • "If the weather is good, sit outside. Food is yummy, but felt my omelet was over-priced at $25. Inside gets beautiful light, but not crazy about the decor (flashy purple and red chairs a bit much). Service excellent - friendly, professional and quick."

  • "We was completely disappointed in our dining experience at BPG. The service was embarrassingly bad. The server could not open a bottle of wine, wanted to pour the wine over the capsule. She put bottle on the table and made the table shake as she tried to open it. She got our food order confused. Wine for our entrees came after the food, after we asked twice again for it. She forgot which bottle we ordered. Entrees were rushed as we were finishing our apps. And then, it was like she had forgotten we were there. When we wanted to leave, we couldn't find her for the check. My risotto was overcooked, as was my wife's pork. Shockingly bad service. We will not return to Bryant Park Grill. Diners beware!"

  • "Everything about the evening was spectacular. Even though we had reservations to eat inside, it was such a beautiful evening that we requested to be seated out on the patio - no problem, they were glad to oblige us. With most restaurants you have to be content with either great food or a great view - here you get both. To linger outside overlooking Bryant Park for 2 hours, dining on exquisite food is my idea of a perfect evening. Our waiter was knowledgeable and attentive and let us move from course to course at our own pace. Later we went inside to check out that dining area and it was absolutely stunning which means we'll be back a lot more - outside in the summer and inside the rest of the year."

  • "Met a friend for dinner at Bryant Park Grill on a beautiful summer evening. The first thing I have to say is about the hosts. I sat at a bar table right next to the outdoor area sipping a drink while I waited for my friend. My friend turned out to be more than one hour late! Although it was a busy Friday evening, the hosts did not bother me or gave me the usual cold NYC-host stare while I waited for her. When she finally showed up, they graciously showed us to our table, which was by the window that looked out to the park. How nice was that?! By the way, the said drink, Josephine (gin-based, splashed with prosecco), was perfect: refreshing and fruity with subtle sweetness, and strong. What a lovely evening it was -- thanks to BPG."

  • "Location is great but the food was just ok. I would not go back again. I would only go for a cocktail maybe. We were still eating appetizers when they brought our mains out. The calamari appetizer was nice and portion size was more of an entree size. The duck confit leg entree was awful. Cold, rubbery and the lentil salad underneath bland and mushy. It's a great location and they accept reservations unlike Bryant park cafe, that is the only positive aspect. Food leaves much to be desired."

  • "We met a friend here for dinner recently and chose to eat indoors. The service was good and the food was very nice. We really appreciated that we were not rushed. We were there just over 3 hours talking and catching up. No one made us feel uncomfortable. That was terrific. Prices are a little high but that goes with the location - which is perfect."

  • "This ivy covered building behind the library is lovely for lunch overlooking the park. I was early and the staff were lovely about it and seated me right away at a window table. Wide variety of yummy choices priced at typical NYC lunch prices. $17.95 for a cucumber and avocado sandwich sounds high ( and it's on the lower end price wise) but the cucumbers were spiced and the bread was deliciously grilled and there was an ample side salad. And there's. The view"
