Bryant & Cooper opened in 1986 with big ambitions: to bring the top tier New York City "steak house experience" to Long Island. Not only would the very finest quality, hand picked prime aged steaks be served, but an ambiance would be created that makes everyone feel like they are part of a special private club. Founded by the three Poll brothers with two generations of restaurant ownership experience, Gillis, Dean and George learned at an early age that the secret of a great restaurant was to start with serving the very best.

That is why the steaks, chops and jumbo lobsters are selected on a daily basis, and only the freshest side dishes find their way to a plate served at Bryant & Cooper.

Over the years Bryant & Cooper has received superlative reviews for its entire menu. The New York Times has proclaimed it the "best steak house on Long Island."

  • "Bryant and Cooper was the choice by my father for my birthday dinner this year and I am happy with his pick. I had an excellent rack of lamb served with mint jelly, which is a personal favorite! I also ate with my sister, boyfriend and sister who all had delicious steaks! Respectively they had the petite filet mignon, the sirloin, and the porterhouse each had a different flavor but was delicious in their own way. I would highly recommend this restaurant. The server was prompt and refilled drinks when necessary. We also had two sides: the hash browns and the creamed spinach which were both delicious!"

  • "While waiting at the bar I for my table I ordered Riesling and the bartender said he did not have yet it was on the wine list, i would have ordered a bottle, a loss sale for the house. Now on to the reason why I chose Bryant & Cooper the selection of steak. My husband and I both opted for individual filets this evening, the meat was cooked to our liking however the meat was chewy and fatty both of ours and we had it cooked differently so it was definitely the quality of the meat not the cooking process. We were both really let down by the food and service. I love steak and frequent high end steakhouses regularly, I will not be recommending or going back to Bryant & Cooper anytime soon and this is unfortunate because I do live close by."

  • "This was mine and my husbands first time here. What an eye opener. So many regulars everyone seemed to know each other. You could tell these people eat here a lot. They all must be really rich. The place is very causal almost like a fancy diner. Our cajun rib steak was delicious. The home fries not so much, very bland. The cream spinach was very good. The prices were ridiculous. The people who go there don't seem to mind, so good for them. I would save this place for special occasions because I value my money to much."

  • "While the service was attentive, the food was disappointing. We've seen the quality of the steaks really go downhill. Our ribeye was full of gristle and for $53 it should have been better than that. Our bad--we probably should have sent it back. The fried combo (onion strings and potato crisps) was OK--the hollandaise for the broccoli and the broccoli was cold. Highlight was the creamed spinach. Apple strudel apples were hard and not cooked enough. I think this was the last time we'll go to Bryant and Cooper."

  • "After we valeted our cars and went in we didn't expect what was coming to us. In fact the night started out pretty nice with us sharing our pleasantries with other customers. As soon as our names were announced we started noticing the BAD Attitude. We checked our coats to the ANGRIEST coat check girl we've ever met. We laughed about it since we were there celebrating our friend's Birthday. Our waiters (more than one) were all rude and kept taking our appetizers without letting us finish. I'm not sure if there was a race but they were definitely trying to win. Also our forks kept disappearing and never got replaced. Anyway we made jokes about it all night and didn't let it ruin why we were there. We will NEVER go back there again!"

  • "First thing, service was phenomenal. Couldn't ask for more. Even the accent of the waiters were on point. Ordered the Cajun Ribeye...great steak but taste was masked by a strong coat of their cajun coat on the meat. However, the first few bites were tasty then I just couldn't handle it and enjoy the meat. But, to each their own. I enjoy Peter Lugers over B&C and stick with the Porterhouse. To the patron, if you want a great tasty steak but can take a gamble on service, Lugers is the #1 choice. If you want a quality steak with great fast service, B&C is your place."

  • "A waiter came to our table after we had been sitting there about 10 minutes and asked if anyone had taken our order. Nobody had so he told another waiter to serve us. The second refused, so the first took our order and gave us excellent service. We were 2 elderly white women, properly dressed. It was most insulting to have a waiter refuse to serve us for no apparent reason. In addition to lunch for two, we purchased a $100 gift card that day. This kind of behavior on the part of a waiter is reprehensible. We were there with a 1pm reservation on Dec.20."

  • "Some things get better with age, but for some reason, not B&C. Friday, 7PM: we were seated at once. Party of 4..two birthdays and the Maitre D noted this. Service is incredibly attentive and professional. 4 people: $350.00 +tip. Appetizers were fine, Caeser Salas, some lobster salads, and tuna tartare...it had wasabi and was not supposed to. Diner: One filet, over done..wait for a new one. Porterhouse for:2 just okay, nothing great, not really hot like you expect an okay steak but not the $50.00 per person kind. Sides all typical..good not great. Desert: they forgot the birthdays. So much for planning. Its just not the same as it was all of a year ago. With Mortons, Peter Luger, BlackStone and more all in the area.. step it up B&C."

  • "I invited 2 Clients to Dinner at Bryant & Coopers. I had not been there in about a year but would go there for Client Lunches every few months. Wait staff is attentive & Food is prepared well. We had Stone Crab Claws which my Client loved - very Fresh, Blue Cheese Salad & Shrimp Cocktail for appetizers. The Waiter recommended an 18 0z. Rib eye prepared with a Cajun sauce, Petit Filet Mignon's (10 oz.) also prepared with the Cajun Sauce, sides of Mushrooms ( ok) & Asparagus with Olive Oil & garlic; all were Excellent! 2 Bottles of 2010 Dominus that I selected paired well with our Dinner, which ended with Tartufo & Expresso."

  • "Second time here and Porterhouse has been average at best. Much better steaks at the other North Shore Steak Houses. Wine is overpriced even by steak house standards. $100 per bottle for anything remotely good. Less than that you're drinking vinegar. Appetizers, Sides, Dessert and Service were all very good. Need to up the quality of the steak."

I've been to this restaurant numerous times with my family, celebrating various occasions, and each time has been a pleasure. Yes, this is a steak house and the menu and ambiance is that of a steak house, but the service and consistency keeps us coming back each time."

  • "The waiter had mentioned that one of the specials was a fillet mignon which could be served as a surf and turf plate. When my wife order she stated that she wanted the fillet mignon surf and turf place. The waiter then countered that the lobster was four pounds and my wife agreed that she did not want a large meal. The waiter then advised that he could make the plate surf and turf with a smaller lobster and my wife ordered that. Later on I overheard him talking loudly with the other waiters about how my wife had tried to order the steak with a four pound lobster. He was showing the other waiters the order and they were looking in our direction. Very unprofessional. So in the end excellent food but poor service."
