Bryant & Cooper opened in 1986 with big ambitions: to bring the top tier New York City "steak house experience" to Long Island. Founded by the three Poll brothers with two generations of restaurant ownership experience, Gillis, Dean and George learned at an early age that the secret of a great restaurant was to start with serving the very best.

That is why the steaks, chops and jumbo lobsters are selected on a daily basis, and only the freshest side dishes find their way to a plate served at Bryant & Cooper.

"I was terribly disappointed because all our steaks ( 4 people) were not cooked to the temps we asked for. We were having such and good time talking with our friends and already had a couple of drinks when the steaks arrived and we were too hungry to send it back.. but in the after thought considering the bill was more then 100 pp, the steaks should have been served as we asked for them. I have eaten at all the steakhouses in the area and many in NYC and my med rare steaks have always has a crisp outside surface and are nice and red on the inside, my steak here had a soft surface on the outside and was medium to medium well on the inside. I don't think I would return considering how many other steakhouses locally would do the it right"

"Better than Luger's which has declined in taste over the past few years and the service is grouchy. Here delightful service and an awesome steak. We had porterhouse for 3, creamed spinach and hash potatoes all delicious. Been dying to find a steak place that I can count on other than luger's and have four it. Will definitely be back!!"

"My biggest gripe here is that they don't know how to cook your steak (pretty important for a steak house). I asked for medium rare and the steak was closer to well done. My girlfriend asked for well done, and it was burnt to a crisp. I didn't send it back given time constraints, so in all fairness I did not see how they would respond to that.

Before we were even able to sit down the waiter was asking for our drink order. I asked him to give us a minute, it was near impossible to flag him down after that."
