Diner Reviews
  • "On this visit I tried the shrimp with pasta and it was exquisite. My only concern was that there was a very loud and angry woman at the table beside us and there were plenty of tables open. It might be good not to seat people adjacent when there are other alternatives as this can affect other diners. Food and service- wonderful as always."

  • "I made a reservation for my wife and I for Saturday night. We arrived quite a bit early, checked in with the front desk, and, since our table was not ready we headed to the bar for a fabulous set of drinks. Ten minutes after our reservation time, I checked in with the stewardess and our table was still not ready. Long story short, we were seated more than 45 minutes after our reservation time. Table service was marginally faster. After ordering our meals it took ages (almost 20 minutes) for our salads to arrive. On the plus side, the food was amazing. Don't try to go to the movies after dinner if you eat here - nothing will be open - but enjoy the food (it's worth the slow service)."

  • "our waitress. a little bit nervous, (wonder if she was new) all in all took care of us nicely. my dinner consisted of all appertizers, since i am a light eater, (All were done to my likeing) forgot to inform waitress, about certain things i can't eat.. My husbands dinner looked good also. we were in & out ot there in an hour. (we are seniors) & the place starts to get loud (on Friday night) early, in fact (3 groups of seniors, 50-??) will eat there again & again, just because i like it.LOVE THE BOOTHS. WISH IT HAD POINTS TO EARN!!!!!! pAULA"

  • "Made reservations on line (nice feature!) for three to celebrate a friend's retirement, requesting a booth (which was accommodated). The restaurant was just about at capacity and lively without being loud. Our waiter was courteous and professional. The roasted beet, pear and goat cheese salad was split between two of us and plated separately (nice courtesy). The potato chip encrusted haddock was very good, and the veal marsala was to-die-for. We were too stuffed to have separate desserts, so we opted for the fresh berries with marscapone and cream with three spoons :-) and coffee. Hadn't been here for a long time and we'll be back the next time we have a celebratory dinner out!"

  • "There were four of us on a Saturday night. We got seated right away. The atmosphere was fantastic. The waitress was friendly and very informative about the menu. It was our first time and our friends third time. We will definitely go back. The food was delicious."

  • "My wife and I came here without knowing what to expect but were pleasantly surprised. The staff were quite gracious and the food was quite good. We had the haddock, rucola salad, scallops and bisque. There were a lot of groups of women which I always take as a good sign in any restaurant."

  • "Brutole is our favorite and this trip was no exception; my swordfish was excellent as was my husband's haddock. Too bad we had no room for desserts- they are wonderful as are the appetizer, esp. the beet salad. Know that there is a decent size bar where you can watch sports, although we don't as we are mainly foodies!"

  • "Now that the holidays are over- do yourself a favor and return to Brutole. The staff is always welcoming and the food is beautifully prepared and delectable. We generally order seafood, but this time we both had chicken entrees and the beet salad was beautiful- perfect to tempt your appetite. We appreciate that there are always new wines to try; we tried a Pinot Noir that was wonderful, yet a fine price point."

  • "A perfect way to end the year: Brutole has added some new items to the menu as well as old favorites. Tired from travel over the holidays, we had planned to stay home- happy that we decided to head to an early meal at our favorite restaurant. The food, service and atmosphere rivals a restaurant you would find in New York. We will return often!"

  • "We love going here for special occasions. The beef tenderloin, lobster ravioli, goat's cheese salad, scallops, chocolate and creme brule are our favorites and never disappoint. The meal is expensive but worth it! The food is delicious and the service is excellent."

  • "Outstanding service and food. Not sure why we were the only occupied table in the restaurant."

  • "Four of us went for my birthday. When I made the Open Table reservations I asked for a quiet table, my husband is a bit hearing impaired. They put us away from the bar area that they thought would be to loud, but instead there was 3 large parties near us and it was very loud. It was not a good choice. All I had to do was mention it and they immediately moved us without an issue. They couldn't have been any nicer and the food was over the top. Hot and tasty...our 2nd time there, I love this restaurant."

  • "Food and service were excellent. Courses were spread out to allow time between appetizer, entree, and dessert to relax and enjoy conversation. Food presentation, preparation, and taste were very good as usual. One slight problem: menu options haven't changed in a LONG time. Would be nice to see a variation in the menu offerings, or at least chef specials, to offset the standard (and very good) existing items."

  • "Brutole is looking very festive, elegantly decorated for the Holidays. If you're looking for a place to hold your event- this is it! The menu will please even the most fussy tastes and the wine list always has something new to try. Come and enjoy!"

  • "the waiter was great, the salads were great, the steak for $41 was way overpriced and overcooked for both my wife and i, the polenta and asparagus were ggreat, and the drinks were good. I would recommend buying something in the middle of the pricepoint on the menu otherwise you may be disspointed"

  • "Brutole just keeps getting better. I enjoyed lobster ravioli- rich, but not overly so and my husband tried my favorite- salmon. Both dishes were delectable. Since we were quite hungry, we shared the beet salad and then berries for dessert; what an excellent meal! We feel fortunate that Brutole is just a few miles away- quality and service are superb."

  • "We were treated like royalty by Andre, Lincoln and the entire staff. The food and wine were just marvelous and although the restaurant is in a suburb the ambiance was high end Boston all the way. We plan to return often."

  • "The menu was creative and the plates were attractive. The food was just OK however. The service was not good because they seemed quite short-staffed. I believe our waiter felt bad about it. I certainly felt bad for him."

  • "This was my first time dining at this restaurant. The food was very good. We had lobster mac n cheese and the spinach artichoke dip to start, followed by the potato chip encrusted haddock. For dessert we enjoyed the apple crumble immensely. The one downside was that service was quite slow. The restaurant was certainly busy but by no means 100% full. Perhaps it was a one off occurrence but the wait time to get our drinks (more than 10 minutes) seemed excessive. I won't hold it against the restaurant on this occasion since it was my first time. I hope to try again some time and then see if service improves."

  • "We had a 6 person dinner here. The restaurant has quiet sections, the service was very good with our waiter present when needed but not when unneeded. The food was uniformly good and we look forward to our next visit."

  • "We've been coming to Brutole for years and have always been pleased. As I don't eat red meat ( plenty of choices for those that do), I appreciate the fish and pasta offerings (my favorite is their salmon). Andre graciously helps us with our wine choices and will suggest new ones for us to try with our meal. Appetizers and desserts are always delectable- if you are really hungry, as the portions are quite ample. Brutole is not a large space- so it's worth reserving your table: there a 2 large seating areas though for your holiday gathering. There's plenty of parking for your group. We dine at Brutole often but it always feels special."

  • "We returned to Brutole with a freind. The dinner was excellent. The Seabass special was outstanding. Service was good, friendly and timely. We recommend to anyone looking for an excellent dining experience."

  • "I was disappointed in the lobster ravioli as they didn't seem homemade and the sauce was different as describe on the menu. We also had the haddock with risotto which was excellent. The arugula salad was very generous and deliciously fresh. Calamari was crispy and tender, but the sauce could have been zippier (?). There were many offerings from the appetizer menu which were like mini-meals with lots of variety. I will probably go that way the next time. Service was fair. I hate seeing servers standing in a group. The bar also looked very comfortable."

  • "We have dined here several times, and have never been disappointed. The service is attentive, without being overbearing. I always order the salmon, and it is served hot and flavorful. Any requests are met, and nothing seems to be too difficult to please the diner. All in all, a wonderful dining experience, and a definite return visit."

  • "I had high hopes based on other reviews I read. For the price, I would expect a higher end experience. The food was quite good, but the service was mediocre at best and the ambiance was so-so. I think the restaurant has potential but could take a lesson from Tuscan Kitchen (Salem NH) and Josephs (Haverhill, MA), which provide a better, service-oriented approach and overall better experience for the money."
