There was a hockey game on and a couple of patrons were hooting and hollering which I found odd for the restaurant ambiance. Other than that, we will be sure to visit again (and to tell all our friends). We were able to grab star bucks and macarons at Merely Sweets next door after dinner. The food tasted great, had good presentation, and the ambiance was upbeat but not too loud. I love restaurants that have dimmed lighting cause it helps set a nicer mood for relaxation! My friends asked me to pick a restaurant for dinner, I thought about Fish in the Bottle, but it was difficult to get their website, the phone rep gave wrong info each time I called. I figured the menu might be limiting. I met Dr. Betsy Berbos and husband for dinner in April and I thought the food was great, so I opted for your place and it was easy to make reservations on line and move on with my appointments. We had the Carbonara and Pappardelle Bruno, they are both OUTSTANDING. The pasta is made on site and delicious. The Caramel Pudding dessert is so yummy. We always share, but, next time I want my own! I would have given this 5 stars, although, we wanted to sit outside. We did not realize when making the reservation we should have indicated outside seating. SO, when making a reservation through OpenTable, be sure to put under your special requests if you wish to eat outside, which I highly recommend. The squash blossom ravioli is to die for and so is the short rib pappardelle, the carpaccio and the arancini. Their martinis are yummy, too! I loved the limoncello one and the strawberry one. We had the cheese platter for an appetizer, and then I had the ravioli, and he had the veal dish. No complaints at all. We both finished our plates. I got a free dessert, too, so I picked the caramel pudding because I had heard good things about it. It was delicious. I was so full that my husband ate 3/4 of it. The service was prompt and extremely friendly. I had a great time, and would definitely come here again.
Just a note, we had reservations, so we were seated right away, but it was a Wednesday night, and it looked like it was getting pretty busy. I stopped by early to ask that they place a flower I had bought at our table for when we arrived for our reservation. We showed up and our hostess readily recognized me and had prepped exactly as I requested. Our server was very personable and each of her recommendations from the menu were superb. We had the mussels again (like always) but we spiced it up by ordering the beef carpaccio which was a great combination beef, arugula, capers and shaved parmesan cheese. For our entree the Branzino. We have gone mostly on Saturday evenings and it does pay to reserve in advance; as this restaurant is quite popular.
The server Shawn was attentive and the food was well-prepared and quite tasty.

We were greated by the manager within a moment of being sat to simply welcome us. He asked if we've dined prior. we go there to celebrate BIRTHDAY and it offers 3 course dinner (plus a drink--alcohol or non-alcohol) for $30 (each person)! it's a good adventure because we can try total of 6 different dishes and 2 different drinks!!
the food were good but not to be point of FANTASTIC ;p
but the server and the owner are VERY considerate and attentive so we had a good time!! >_<
oh, Brunos will give the birthday person a FREE DESSERT of their choice! ^^ hahaha...yum yum yum!! @_@

Service and food met our expectations in all respects. The mussels, as an appetizer were excellent. My wife had the short rib pasta and enjoyed it thoroughly. The risotto ball appetizer was a perfect start. Loved the lasagna the first time and came back for the flat iron steak w/ polenta. So good both visits. Even thought the meal was so delicious and filling, I had to get the desserts both times. My group of 4 got desserts to share. We tried the tiramisu, almond cake w/ peaches and ice cream, and had 2 of the Carmel/choc ganache & whip. All the dessert were very enjoyable howerver the pudding was amazing! It's flavors are perfect and not too rich. Both visit I have received wonderful service. Servers were very kind and knowledgeable. Prices are reasonable, especially given the quality of the food. I like the ambiance of the restaurant because outdoor patio opens up into Downtown Brea; a large sliding wall/window to the patio opens up the inside of the restaurant making it seem more spacious and open. Smaller bar area, so may not be best bar to hang out at all night, but a good place to stop in and have a drink.2/16/2013 12:00:00 AM
