Diner Reviews
  • "7:15 reservation on a Friday night-seated immediately. While the menu is not extensive, what they do, they do really well. Pastas are all perfectly cooked (don't get me started on the Pesto Gnoichi!) and the sauces are beautiful. There are also chicken, beef and seafood entrees. My husbands brother, who was visiting from New York joined us. He has worked in the restaurant and catering business as a sous chef. So, he knows food and he was very impressed. Was a bit lively (but, it was a Friday night afterall). Excellent service- made recommendations for appetizers and wine which turned out to be great and she was very good at explaining the entrees. Try the caramel pudding with chocolate ganache and whipped cream for dessert. YUM!"

  • "We enjoy the food very much. The noise level is a bit too "energetic" for our age (however, we will find ways to remedy that ourselves). The service was rushed at our last visit. We wish the restaurant success as we have seen several restaurants come and go in the last 10-15 years."

  • "I have eaten there 3 times and have been more than satisfied with the food and the service. A great place to dine!"

  • "We have eaten here several times but this time was extra good. The meatballs are better than mom used to make and the house salad is delicious. Drinks are good and the service by Sarah was extra special"

  • "after being seated for about 10 min, i asked the server for some bread for the kids, her respond was, i will bring it to you after you place your order :( i've never get this kind of service from anyone, totally disappointed. my girl had the Pappardelle Bruno again, the dish was so small, it was like the kid's meal and dry, maybe they were just too busy on a sat. nite :)"

  • "Really enjoy Bruno's. Mark, the Manager, was great and we enjoyed talking with him. We had a party of 6 and were not in as much of a rush as our waitress was. She got frosty. We got an 18% gratuity tacked on. We hadn't seen that for a party of 6 before, but saw that as saving us 2%. Food was great and will return."

  • "For Brea this is an upscale restaurant with prices that go along with wonderful food and service. Danielle waited on us and really took good care meeting all our needs and requests for a birthday dinner, Would recommend this restaurant...look at their menu online and you can even do your reservation on line. Great experience."

  • "We visited Bruno's because a daughter-in-law recommended it. I wanted to celebrate my husband's birthday by taking him to a different restaurant than our usual one. We are local people and tend to eat out in this area. We were delighted by Bruno's! The food was very good and the wine was excellent and the price was perfect. We plan on returning soon. Also, our waitress, Amanda, was a gem!!! Besides our entrees of the "Fruit of the Sea" and the Bucatinni di Cinghiale with wild boar, the Caesar salad was wonderful as well as the birthday dessert of Pan Dolce. Thank you Bruno's!!!"

  • "The new menu items, Bucatini with wild boar sausage, Spinach ravioli, and the Hamachi sushi appetizer are all over the top. Chef Christian is kicking it up a notch or two"

  • "This is our fourth time going to Brunos. Brian, our server, gave us excellent service. The food was good. The Fontouna cheese was a repeat, we love it. The lasagna was good and very abundant, 3 of us split it, and we had enough. I forgot to show my AAA card to save some money."

  • "This place is one of my favorite local spots. I don't want people to know because it's that great! They are super accommodating and the food is excellent. I've never had dessert here because I'm always too full. Make a reservation, it's a popular place!"

  • "We are from Pasadena and were looking for a nice restaurant to meet friends who were coming from Irvine. This was not it. Noise level was so high that we were leaning across the table to hear each other. The Italian food was ok but not good enough to overcome the noise. Our waiter was nice and well trained to recommend the wines, cocktails, and food."

  • "Have been to Bruno's several times now. Food has always been delicious. I had the scallops over tomato risotto and it was cooked to perfection. My husband loves how light and airy the meatballs are and the thick spaghetti. The bread is sooooo good too. Love the decor and it can get noisy on weekends. Dont know about weeknights."

  • "Service and food wonderful,as always. But,for the second time, the restaurant did not have the Open Table reservation. Probably better to call the restaurant than rely on Open Table."

  • "It was our first time here and our waitress really made us feel welcome. The ambiance is just as warm, and the setting is suitable for any occasion. I opted for the $30 Prix Fixe, which includes wine... what a steal! Even if not included, the Prix Fixe would have been a great bargain. There were at least 6 - 8 choices for each course, and many choices were tempting. Also, the restaurant has an impressive and diverse wine list of 42 wines, and they are all priced at $7.50, so we were welcome to venture out of our norm or price point. That was awesome! Overall, blown-away by the value and the quality received at Bruno's. Will definitely be back soon enough!"

  • "It looks like turned around and the hostess is new and doing a great job making the service from checking in to enjoying the great food. This is why we go to Bruno's. Thanks Mark, Shawn and Brian for the Awesome service. We had a great time!"

  • "I've eaten here before when it first opened. Everything was great then. I had the branzino; it was delicious. This time I was very disappointed. When we first arrived, there were plenty of empty tables and more than enough people working yet it seemed like forever before we were seated and we had a reservation. We brought in a bottle of wine and had to remind the hostess twice before it was brought to our table. I ordered the butternut squash ravioli and it was horrible. I had to send it back to get reheated. It was very bland."

  • "My husband and I decided to try Bruno's for our 15th wedding anniversary. Ambience was nice, though on the loud side. Service=exceptional. Ordered from the "Taste of Bruno's" menu ($30 per person) but includes 2 appetizers (you aren't sharing one between 2 people), an entree each & dessert (again--you each get a dessert!), as well as a glass of wine, each. FABULOUS meal! We shared everything. He ordered the "Bistecca Flatiron" which came with polenta & roasted onions. I ordered the "Pappardelle Bruno" (braised short ribs w/ pasta and roasted mushrooms). Also AMAZING! The appetizers--Arancini and the Polpette--DELICIOUS. Dessert--Budino al Caramello--I'm still thinking about it 4 days later! FANTASTIC! Will be back for SURE!"

  • "Amazing menu for restaurant week! Steamed mussels in garlic with white wine broth, grilled staek with polenta, creamy/rich tiramisu. All served by Sarah with a smile!"

  • "The over all look and feel was great. Definitely would dine with friends, although it's a little to crowded for a date."
    Dined on 2/26/2014
  • "If you want to exercise your vocal cord and practice cheering for football game, please dine at this restaurant. The noise level is too much to bear and affects you to have a decent conversation. If you have a date, please think twice before booking this restaurant. Your romantic conversation can be heard by guests who sit just about a foot away. The price you pay does not worth for the noise, ambience and the service."

  • "We went for restaurant week, and I'd have to guess that it was busier than an average Tues night. That said, service was a little sketchy, our server started out attentive but it waned off. This could be because they didn't expect such a Tues crowd so I'm cutting them some slack. Not bad though. Nice selection of Italian wines at fair prices. Nice Happy hour and Weds wine specials (a glass for a penny with meal), although all bottles of wine are $28, glasses $7. The pasta and flatiron both were great, as were the appetizers and desserts. So food is an wow, don't miss. It was pretty loud, and there is an patio that they can partially close off to incorporate to the inside which they had done, but it was cold inside, bring a jacket."

  • "Need to switch up some dishes and offer some seasonal dishes. The vongole pasta was a bit tart/lemony/sour. Other than that, everything was good"
    Dined on 1/30/2014
  • "We've always had good service but on our last visit were there celebrating a special occasion and experienced otherwise. We've always taken advantage of the great happy hour drink and appetizer prices but this last time were told that you can no longer utilize happy hour unless you were seated at the bar. This might be ok if your bar sat more than 5-6 people and had room to stand around, but sadly it does not. Also when we asked the server to heat up our bread, he refused saying the microwave was always tied up with the desserts - what? Not the right answer, I mean how much trouble or time could this have been.?! So though we've always enyoyed Brunos in the past, we will now think twice about our next visit."

  • "All wines are $28.00 a bottle. Brunos make most of their pastas. Dishes are reasonably price. Good variety of pasta and entrée dishes."

  • "As always we had a terrific meal! We were lucky to be able to try a new dessert coming to the menu next month - chocolate bread pudding with a delicious cherry sauce. Yum!"

  • "Valentine's Day: tables were very small and cramped, which I see from reviews has been noted by others, so not just because of Valentine's Day....service was outstanding, very friendly and attentive. Food was very good - nothing outstanding; noise was deafening - hard to talk and enjoy the special day for dining out."
