I saw our brunch being delivered to a table across from us. It sat there for a few minutes in front of others and then handed over to our table. Eeeww! Overall very good quality meal, properly prepared with organic ingredients, which is very important to our family."

  • "My daughter ordered the paella but it arrived cold and bland. Our waitress was quick to apologize and replace the entree with another choice. It was our daughter's birthday as well as Father's Day and the waitress also included 2 free desserts as our daughter did not get her replacement entree until the rest of the party had finished theirs. By no means was this the waitress' fault as she was the NICEST waitress we have ever come across. Apart from that one entree everything else was YUMMY, especially the sea bass. We love this restaurant as they always go out of their way to ensure your satisfaction."

  • "We had reservations, yet had to wait 30min to be seated. There were plenty of tables available so not sure why we had to wait. Our waiter was friendly and nice....however, everything took too long. After being seated, it was another 30min beforeour order was taken...and we had to ask for it to be taken. It took another 20min for appetizers to come out. Finally the food was delivered, except they forgot one order. No idea why it was so slow when the restaurant was pretty empty."

  • "If you enjoy brunch - this is a great place to try. The prices are reasonable and the selection and variety of items is great. From eggs, to chicken and waffles, as well as burgers and salads. Lots to choose from as well as an excellent selection of craft beers. A great place to take a beer lover. Service is good. Staff are friendly. Would definitely recommend this restaurant and look forward for returning."

  • "We were sat right behind the guitarist/signer they had for Father's Day and it was far too loud! There were 7 of us at a round table and I couldn't hear my sister across from me without practically yelling. The service has never been this bad before and I think it was also due to the holiday. We had 4 different people bring out our food at different times and they forgot 2 items, biscuits and gravy and a side of eggs, and the eggs didn't come out until we were basically done. It took asking 3 different people for hot sauce, ketchup and ranch before we finally got it as well.... And yet, the food is awesome and we will definitely be returning, just not again for fathers day."

  • "Maybe it was just a one off but the service we got was mediocre. Our waiter was not attentive, we had to waive him down every time we needed something and when he dropped off our food, etc he just walked away every time. Wouldn't even ask or wait to see if we needed anything else. The food itself was pretty good. I got the petite fillet which was delicious! Atmosphere is good too, nice place to just show up for a few drinks- the bar itself is a nice size."

  • "I was not happy this time. I've been to Bru 5X and this time it was not as good. They had a special: copper river salmon and I asked for it to be cooked medium. It was seared and raw inside & it smelled "fishy". I've had it in Washington when it's in season and it was awesome but Bru failed on this very special fish. I'd still recommend Bru but I was disappointed this time."

  • "We were seated within minutes of our arrival. They had a large selection of beers which appealed to my husband. I'm not a beer drinker but a champagne lover. They had a tasty champagne cocktail that I order with hints of peach which I thoroughly enjoyed. We tried their pretzel appetizer which really hit the spot. I would order that again. Our waiter was efficient, informed, and tentative. Sadly, as we were waiting for our meal, a cook walked off the line which delayed our food. Luckily, we were on our weekly "date night" away from the kids, so we didn't mind. We appreciated our waiter informing us of the delay and enjoyed our meal when it did arrive. (I had the steak special with blue cheese mashed potatoes and green beans. So good!)"

  • "We went to Bru for my mom's 78th(!) birthday. It was great. They were extremely busy (as they should be) so even though there were a couple of service hiccups, they were handled brilliantly, which is exactly what you want (we got a free drink, the owner came and introduced himself, etc.). The food was great - perfectly cooked, interesting spin on flavor, etc. and my mom felt special! One minor complaint - not even a complaint, just a heads up to anyone going on Friday nights - it's incredibly loud in the main dining room next to the bar. They have live music (which was really good!) but it's hard to hold a conversation without shouting. However, overall a minor thing. So happy to have a great restaurant in Lake Forest!"

  • "Went to Bru for dinner again to celebrate a birthday. As usual, the service was great. Tried something completely different this time---went with the beet salad and added salmon. It was great plus all the bonus points for eating such a light and healthy dish! My wife had the Opah special and it also was very good. Side note, Bru seems to do an excellent job on all their fish meals---I've never had a bad one. Always moist and tender. Had a bottle of La Crema chardonnay with the meal. Although the menu doesn't say it, this is not the same chardonnay that you see in the super markets. Much better and a very nice value for a restaurant wine. The bar was extremely lively that evening with game seven of the Ducks-Kings playoff."

  • "We made reservations and still the service was really lacking. We ordered a burger and a salad and it took forever to get our food. Very disappointing and we had our children with us. We did notice after we arrived a large party took over the patio and food from the kitchen was going out to them first AND our waiter told us the kitchen wasn't doing too good that night. Not to mention it was Mother's Day and it wasn't really that busy. Very disappointing."

  • "This is my all time favorite spot for brunch. I am not a big fan of buffet style eating so this is a great place to order what you want off the menu. The food is fantastic and well as the service. You get bottomless champagne or mimosa's for 8.99! What a deal. Their Bru burger is to die for! They even make it kid friendly."

  • "Decided last minute to come here for Mother's Day. There was availability for 4 even though it was last minute. Because it was Mother's Day, it was very loud and lively in the restaurant. They even had a singer playing inside, who was pretty good and we enjoyed. The family ordered the following dishes: Belgian Waffles, Fish Tacos, Beef Dip Sandwich, and Eggs Benedict. Everyone was please with their meal and enjoyed every bite. Our waiter was efficient enough given the craziness due to the holiday. We would have liked to see him more often, but he did check back on us as often as he could. We definitely enjoyed ourselves and will be back. Thank you for helping make Mother's Day a memorable one!"

  • "Not enough space to write down what we did not like about our dining experience on Mother's Day. Highlight was waiting 20 minutes for cream and sugar that we ordered for our coffee. Oh I need to mention we asked two different waiters during that time and it was never brought to us. I ended up going back to the open kitchen area myself to get it. We'll never do brunch here again! Food was completely forgettable too. "

  • "We have been fans of Bru since it opened but this Brunch experience has made us question whether or not we want to return. We convinced our family members to come here for something different for Mother's Day. We made reservations weeks in advance, but upon arrival were told that most of the tables were reserved, there was only a half table/half booth. Three of the entrees came out cold and had to be sent back. With the 'bottomless' mimosas, we had to ask several times for a re-fill. Other tables had a bread basket served to them, we did not receive this. Other mothers came in with roses from the front. Apparently the roses arrived after we were seated, but they should have come around to give them to the Mothers that were already seated."

  • "Using Open Table totally rocks. We pretty much just walked in. The food tasted amazing. Our server forgot to enter 1 entree, so we had to wait for that. But, he comped the entree and 1 dessert. I recommend the bread pudding with caramel sauce. To die for. My kids split an adult entree because the children's menu has boring food on it like breaded chicken, grilled cheese, and mac and cheese. Totally returning. Yummy."

  • "Because there was a special event, it was even more noisy than normal, but Drew our server was still spot on in his recommendations and attentiveness. Ask for him; he is worth waiting for good service these days. Food seemed a bit off and "sloppy" compared to other meals we have enjoyed there. Salad dressing was a bit on the vinegary side --so much so, we both coughed and has tears in our eyes with our first bite-- and the "roasted" garlic on top of the questionably done paella was still crunchy, thus the 3 start rating. Evening special swordfish was superb, almost worth a 4! It is a place worth trying out on an off night when it is not so busy. It can get VERY loud and almost impossible to have a dinner conversation. "

  • "I eat here every couple weeks when I work in Orange County. Great place to meet clients, comfortable setting. One thing that I have an issue with are the booths. The seating is a bit uncomfortable.. I'm not a big guy but I feel like I'm very close to the table, very claustrophobic."

  • "The food is amazing, the drinks are strong my Vesper Martini was pure alcohol. The hostess's are a little hit and miss, we arrived 4 minutes prior to our reservation and were told we would be seated right away only to sit and wait 15 minutes... The two girls seemed more interested in chatting together rather then getting tables turned, I know they don't have control of people leaving but telling people they will be seated in five minutes and waiting 15 with no other communication from the pair of hostesses is frustrating. Enough complaints, the Prime Rib was tasty, the Rib Eye Special totally amazing.. My personal favorite was the the Potato Fondu, so delicious I think I could skip the meal and just eat that!"
