Brown's Beach House - The Fairmont Orchid - Kohala Coastfor special occasions only $$$$$$$Beautiful restaurant, food as art, excellent service, can't beat the scenery, ambiance and the sunset over the ocean. But OH MY GOODNESS is this place expensive!!!! Expect to pay close to $200 for dinner for 2, and that's not including a bottle of wine, just a couple of drinks. If you live on the Big Island, be sure to ask about the Kama'aina discount of 10% - which is close to $20 on that kind of tab.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazingThis restaurant is amazing. The service is beyond great and the food is very tasty. My husband and I loved it.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food with a fantastic viewWe celebrated our 40th anniversary with great style. Wish we lived closer so we could go there often.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was disappointing relativeFood was disappointing relative to the overall restaurant experience.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMBest dinning experience weBest dinning experience we had on the big island. Appetizer and salads were a good start. We paired a great French red with our fillet and pork chop entrees. Both entrees were superb, and we nearly licked our plates clean. The dessert list was equally strong, and both deserts we tried were excellent. Service was not perfect, but no complaints from us. The Fairmont and Brown's beach house are a killer combo.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMIncredible food, service,Incredible food, service, and ambience. Would recommend to anyone on the kona coast for a special occasion.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the best meals I everOne of the best meals I ever had... Lamb Chops were amazing and my wife loved the lobster tail and risotto.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMHawaiian dream dinnerWe went for our anniversary and it was fabulous! We started with champagne, and we chose the fixed price menu option. My wife started with the Kona coffee short ribs, while I had Apple Banana & squash with toasted Mac nuts soup. I really liked the soup, but we both agreed that the short ribs were great. We both had the Crab crusted Kampachi fish for our main course. The fish was cooked perfectly and it was excellent. The desert was a "snicker bar" - styled concoction, with peanuts, chocolate and was very tasty. Our table was at the edge of the outdoor seating area, overlooking the beach, which was lit with spot-lights so we could watch and hear the surf. Fantastic!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMW-A-Y over priced, but defientlyW-A-Y over priced, but defiently a 5+ star restaurant. Very nicly placed facing the beach and Pacific ocean. Four of us, 2 bottles of $45 wine, no starters, one cocktail each; $520 ($80 tip). The $57 entree's should have been more like $45 entree's. Just saying not "real world" pricing.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect!Everyone at Brown's worked to make our anniversary dinner extra special. The hostess who greeted us made us feel like we were VIPs. Our server was helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. He picked out some perfect wines to go with our dinner. I had the tasting menu and my husband had the 3 course dinner. Everything was fresh, delicious and perfectly seasoned. My pork was the juiciest, most flavorful pork dish I have ever had. The lobster was delicate and not salty like most places. The view was gorgeous and the singer made the ambiance perfect! One small note, I think there was a party or luau going on across the beach. You might want to avoid that night if you like quiet. It didn't detract from our evening though! Loved everything3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent as always, fromExcellent as always, from food to service to exquisite sunset view. Look forward to being back next year!3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a delightful evening! What a delightful evening! Even though it drizzled a bit from time to time during our outstanding dinner, it didn't matter. The food was excellent...well prepared and presented; the view was to die for as we were seated at one of maybe 4 PERFECT tables just on the edge of the grass overlooking the bay. We would have enjoyed the evening if we were seated further back I suppose, but the surrounding conversations were non-existent at our table as we enjoyed dinner and the spectacular view.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMExtremely expensive. SmallExtremely expensive. Small portions. Beautiful setting! Extremely attentive service.1/28/2013 12:00:00 AMRomantic diningRomantic outdoor dining with truly special service. Food was good but not outstanding; do try the Waimea baby romaine salad because that is excellent However, the experience is so special that this is a spot I would visit again.12/1/2012 12:00:00 AM
