  • "This restaurant was a great surprise! I was a little hesitant at first with it being in a strip mall, but once I was inside I was definitely wowed! Our server was very good and offered me u selections for us to try since we'd never dined there before. I can't rave enough about the food. I had the filet with the mushrooms and the asparagus....so good. We will definitely be back!"

  • "We had not been to Brown Dog for a while. We had an excellent dinner and were very excited about the flavors and combinations of ingredients. I had the duck breast with pheasant sausage which was really great, my husband had the venison wellington, which was marvelous. We will make Brown Dog our go to restaurant in the future. Service was great, prices were very reasonable."

  • "The food as always was terrific. This little neighborhood restaurant in a small strip mall is much on the inside than the out. Its intimate, comfortable and the food is absolutely outstanding.,"

  • "I was on a business trip and wanted something different that wasn't a "chain". I am thankful I stumbled across The Brown Dog. The food was wonderful and I felt very well attended to by the staff. I asked the waitress for dinner suggestion and was not disappointed. I wish I had found this gem on my first night in Blue Ash. I would have eaten there more than once!"

  • "Odd location next to a Subway and behind Bob Evans, but worth seeking out. Inventive menu, decent wine list, many gluten-free options and outstanding food. You will enjoy this place."

  • "We went for dinner one evening and had a mixed experience. The ambience is excellent, it is a quiet little place that makes you want to order a glass of wine and relax for a few hours. The service was not what I expected for the prices I was paying. I have had better service at a Denny's. it was as if we were at a diner.."yeah, so what do you want." attitude the whole night. I ordered the steak ($28) and my husband ordered the burger ($17). The food was good, but much to my disappointed the mashed potatos weren't seasoned and the burger wasn't seasoned. I'm not talking like I need a flavor explosion in my mouth...it was missing the basics...salt and pepper. We may have come on an off night, but I know for the $$$ not worth it!"

  • "The Brown Dog is the place to go when you want that "special" food experience. When your food arrives, you quickly slow down to enjoy every bite. You wonder how this food tastes so much better than similar meals in other restaurants. The it becomes clear - it must be magic."

  • "I love this restaurant for lunch with friends. The menu offers options for almost everyone. The quality of the food is superb. I have been a client for about 7 years and it never dissapoints."

  • "We had dinner with a friend who brought her niece from New York with her. She raved about the creative food selections. We all had a delightful time. It was the best experience we have had at this restaurant. We have been there many times."

  • "We enjoyed an early weekday dinner on our way to a Playhouse in the Park show. Our waitress did a super job getting us out the door in just enough time for our 7:30 curtain. More importantly, the food and service continue to delight us. And the warm carrot cake with vanilla ice cream and ginger -- an awesome end to an already good meal."

  • "We eat at Brown Dog several times a year both for lunch and dinner. We always enjoy our meal. I rarely order steak out but this time I did and it was very tender and perfectly cooked. My husband had the stuffed salmon which again was well done."

  • "We have been to the Brown Dog before and had a better experience. This time we were eating early before a show and we were the only ones in the restaurant. The service was very slow and felt like the server was annoyed that we were there. The food was good, although we have had better."

  • "Food and service were both very good. One of the better meals I had in Cincinnati."

  • "We love the Brown Dog for its good food and friendly service. But this time there was royal screwup. We booked through OT and when we arrived there was a backup. The Receptionist said that they were overbooked, so we waited for 1/2 hour, to make matters worse, a couple who arrive after us and we could see their name on the res list got seated before us. It appears that there was a royal SNAFU. What I don't understand is that with our phone number on OT, someone could have called and said something about them running over and let us decide to keep or cancel the reservation"

  • "The food was great but the wait for the food was terrible."

  • "Dishes were excellent, and service was very good. Restaurant is fairly small, so try to avoid the table by the entrance (drafty and people waiting for a table are standing on top of you). Prices are fairly high, making this more of a special-occasion destination."

  • "We were not pleased on our arrival, because of the stress at the door. There was one table available, which was very undesirable at it was the first table by the door and in a very cold and drafty place. The couple that arrived just before us would not accept that table so the host offered it to us. We would not accept it either and so we were told we would have to wait. Which we did. We were seated about ten minutes later by the bar, which was OK. After that everything went well. The waitress was friendly and very efficient. The drinks were generous and the food was delicious. We recommend it."

  • "I have been to Brown Dog on a few occasions and always found it good, but they really dropped the ball on Saturday night. With reservations, we were never seated and had to leave. They were at least 45 mins. behind on reservations and others were leaving as well. On top of being backed up, the person working the door was not managing the situation well, driving frustration with everyone waiting. Unfortunately it is not worth driving out of our way to try again."

  • "I had reservations for two the day after Valentine's Day. It seems that everyone who had reservations for V- Day decided to cancel and try for the following day due to poor weather. We unfortunately watched $800 worth of business walk out. There was a lack of communication from staff. We were never officially greeted and checked in. Fortunately, we were eventually provided with alcohol during our 1.5 hour wait. When we were seated and we received our food, one of the steaks was under cooked, but this issue was taken care of by BDC staff. We enjoyed the small intimate setting. I feel the type of night that we had is not typically what one would experience while dining here. Therefore, I will eat here again before recommending to others."

  • "I am a frequent diner at lunch and always pleased, especially notable are the seafood specials. I have dined at night a couple of times over several years and I decided to book dinner for Valentines dinner with my wife. We were not disappointed. The menu was fixed price and had a wide variety of dishes. The wow factor was present. Everything was delicious. The wine list has a number of sleepers for a good price. I had a bottle of chardonnay that was memorable (I went on-line and bought a couple more). I also had a glass of pinot noir that was top shelf. Service was very friendly and competent as usual. Give them a hug."

  • "One of the best farm to table restaurants in Cincinnati. The meat and produce are the highest quality--grape tomatoes like candy in February! Filet you can cut with a butter knife. Crab cake with a bleu cheese slaw is a fave. Hawaiian fish special topped with Shrimp Creole on creamy grits was perfect. And always get the Mediterranean Plate. Fab wine list & lots of affordable bottles."

  • "Delicious and creative cuisine but pricey! We came for the Valentine's day "special" which was a price fixed 4 course meal that was good but no better than what you get any day of the week here. Except twice the price. Skip the specials and come here on an ordinary day."

  • "First time to Brown Dog Cafe. Had a menu that was specialized and different from most restaurants in the area. Everything we had was excellently prepared! Restaurant is small, therefore a little noisy, but we loved the food, had excellent service, and will definitely go back!"

  • "I had never tried Hawaiian opah before but decided to give the special a try. Certainly glad I did. It was a wonderful tasting fish that was prepared to perfection. Rounding out my meal was a fresh, well-dressed salad and a beautifully presented Chocolate Banana Bread dessert that was similar to a molten lava cake. On this evening, the staff continually kept my water glass refilled and checked back often to ensure that all was well. Great job."

  • "Unfortunately, I had just started a very restrictive diet when I visited Brown Dog for lunch; however, the chef was very accomodating and prepared my chicken exactly as I wanted it. On previous occasions, I've tried more satisfying dishes and they've always been great respecially the burgers and soup."

  • "Don't let the mini-strip mall location fool you! Brown Dog Cafe is a rare fine. The decor is calming and creates a soothing environment. I was welcomed and seated immediately - a nice surprise as I was 15 min early. Wine / liquor list had a variety of choices. Dinner menu had surprising entrees such as wild boar, which is what I had. Incredibly delicious! Appreciated the many gluten free selections. The gluten free key lime pie was awesome. Well worth the drive!"

  • "Unusual location as Subway is 2 doors down - but this place has amazing food, great service, and a great small atmosphere once you are inside."

  • "Local cuisine that was fresh prepared and delicious. The portions were much larger than I was expecting from a fine dining restaurant. The beer prices were a bit of a shock. $10 a pint seems a little insane to me, but the reasonable food prices balanced it out a bit ."

  • "Food and drinks are great. Wait staff is attentive. But food can take forever to get to you. I won't go there for lunch because of it. Last time I was there for dinner, it was over an hour for entrees to come out. If you order everything within 5 minutes of sitting down, you may have a shot."

  • "Wanted a convenient spot to meet up with friends and chose Brown Dog for it's quick highway access. We chose a range of eating styles from light (a salad and appetizer) to a full meal with dessert and coffee. All in our party were very pleased - thoroughly enjoying every bite, as well as outstanding service."
