  • "Great food, great prices, try the steamer pot, could not be better anywhere, unusual entrees, hard to chose but all are great, cant wait to return"

  • "The Brown Dog Cafe is the gem of Blue Ash and one of the best restaurants in the Cincinnati area. The food is unique, flavorful and fresh. Soup specials come in a wide variety of flavors and styles and never cease to amaze."

  • "It was our lat time at this location and we were not sure what to expect since the outside look of the restaurant didn't match the deliciousness of the food inside. I would recommend this restaurant for any occasion. The food was delicious and the service was incredible."

  • "Great food with excellent service ... don't miss this place if you happen to be in the neighborhood."

  • "Food is delicious. We couldn't stop talking about it during the rest of the evening! Crab stuffed salmon and the filet were to die for. Excellent service. Perfect balance between leaving you alone but always being there if you needed something. Have been there before; will go again!"

  • "From salad to cheese plate to venison, duck, & fois gras, topped with key lime pie, all was a taste treat. A broad and varied beer and wine list was appreciated. The small, but cozy setting felt comfortable."

  • "First time to the brown dog cafe. Was very impressed with the doff. What was not so good was the slow service in getting drinks and taking our orders. At lunch they should be faster then that. Besides that I really like the place."

  • "I took a client to Brown Dog to get to know one another better, and to finalize some details of our agreement. The food was great. I had the sea bass with Boursin mashed potatoes and asparagus. I was a bit disappointed at how cool the food was, like it had been sitting waiting to be picked up. My guest had a seafood dish with mussels, shrimp and other fish with flat pasta noodles. He loved it. We each had coffee and left. Total $46 without tip. Only real complaint was how noisy it was, it made conservation difficult."

  • "The food was exceptional and the service was great."

  • "The choices at Brown Dog are impressive and inventive. For example, we had venison arapas as an appetizer which was delicious and different compared to many restaurants. Our entrees took a little long to arrive, but were excellent. The fries that came with my "(crab)cake and steak" special were outstanding as was the rest of the entree. The wine list has some very reasonable offerings and we found a great choice. We have been to Brown Dog a couple of times and have been impressed each time. We will be back."

  • "I have gone to the Brown Dog Cafe for years for lunch and I have never been disappointed by the variety, creativity and quality of their menu. I am a foodie to the core and this place has always satisfied my high standards of great food. I hope their lunch prices always remain resona le."

  • "We'd been in the car for hours & did a Yelp search on the area. We were tired & hungry, and we skeptically approached the entrance, which is located in a strip mall next to a Subway. WHAT a pleasant surprise! This place is outstanding. Don't let the locale deceive you. The interior is lovely & intimate. Chef Shawn McCoy greeted us and gave recommendations. We had a beet salad & a venison arepa to start - delicious and served quickly. The wild boar's coffee rub was great, and kale & apple salad were the perfect side. I had the Duck, Buck - venison & duck confit. Rich & delicious, with a great sauce, potato pancake, and creamed spinach. Our service was wonderful, & prices were affordable. Such a find, & we want to go back to try the martinis!"

  • "Although in a small strip mall, the Brown Dog Cafe offered great food and wine in an intimate environment. A very pleasant experience."

  • "I actually tried something different this time - their take on a traditional gyro. They call it a hero. It was tasty albeit a bit hard to hold together. Definitely worth the effort, though!"

  • "I was caught in traffic, trapped on the highway for well over an hour, making me late for my reservation. The staff was so accommodating! They seated part of the group and they ordered appetizers, so we still had a lovely meal even with all the delays. In addition, I have seldom seen a menu with so many great gluten-free options, which made it a great find!"

  • "One of the most consistent restaurants I have been going to lunch there for years and I have never had a dish that was delicious. I prefer the lunch menu to the dinner offerings. Some highlights=Fish Tacos, Chicken Salad Wrap, Tuna Melt with Fruit, Burgers and the Brown Dog Fries are a must! When they have it-their Crab and Corn Chowder is the highlight of my day!"

  • "I think the food was expensive, especially for the amount of food you receive. My husband got steak, and I seriously asked him where the meat was on the plate. I would visit for lunch, but won't be back for dinner."

  • "It had been a few years since I dined here. The food is as amazing and innovative as I last remembered. Will definitely return."

  • "Everything on the menu sounded appealing to me, so I asked our server for her recommendations...was not disappointed!!! We will revisit if ever in the area again...don't miss this gem!"

  • "A great place to have Chef cooked food without all the distractions."

  • "Food was great as always. We both had the duck with pheasant sausage. This chef is an expert with duck. Service was a little confused--they were having computer problems. They forgot our salads but served them gratis with the main course. Service was a little fast especially considering the restaurant was mostly empty. Still a good experience."

  • "Nice quiet atmosphere, great service. I enjoyed the crab cakes with fries-delicious! Mostly crab and hot crispy fries. Anyting I've tried here has been delicious. Nice crusty hot bread served with lunch. My fellow diners had never been there and said they would be back in a hearbeat. Secluded in a strip mall, but very nicy place to dine-especially to enjoy conversation, more quieter places to dine."

  • "I have been to the Brown Dog many times over the last5-6 years, and have always had good experiences. The service is second to none, the food is different and always well prepared, and the ambience is quiet, simple, and intimate. Always easy to recommend a place like this."

  • "Brown Dog Cafe is a real gem, nestled (hidden?) in a small, nondescript strip mall on Pfeiffer Road in Blue Ash. The food selection is varied, and includes a wide selection of gems for the earth-conscious as well as for those looking for "comfort food." Service is fast, pleasant and accommodating. The dining environment is a bit noisy, but very cozy and warm."

  • "If you want to take a step up from the usual lunch places, Brown Dog Cafe is the right choice. Unusually good food, quiet atmosphere and very good service. "

  • "I went with my wife and enjoyed the $17 burger with the BBQ option. It was way to big to eat as a burger and got the fork and knife treatment. Awesome sweet potato fries with it. We also had the chocolate banana bread which was more like a molton lava cake but yummy. These guys also have one of the better bread and butter starters in the area. Great roasted garlic in oil with an herbed butter on the side. We had what looked like an everything bread - supper good."

  • "Our dinner at Brown Dog Cafe was excellent - the food, service and relaxing atmosphere. We could not stop talking about the food...it just melted in our mouths....we appreciated the friendly service and suggestions on what to eat. Nice selection of wines to accompany the dinner. Can't wait to go again! "

  • "We went to the Brown Dog Cafe to celebrate a birthday. The food was wonderful. We particularly enjoyed the eclectic menu. Appetizer and dessert prtion size was spot on. Enough to wet your appetite and to close the meal, but not so much that you felt uncomfortably full. The entree was a wonderful ix of flavors. We really enjoyed the suprising flavors of the apple salad and creamed kale. The boar was tender and juicy. The duck confit was rich and flavorful. All in all a great dining experience. Thanks Brown Dog!"

  • "Dinner was delicious, but at those prices if rather go somewhere that's a little more interesting/romantic/entertaining... It's a hometown restaurant with excellent food, but the strip mall ambiance is a detraction..."

  • "I love this restaurant both for business lunches and dinner with my husband. Wonderful food, great service. Have gotten numerous dishes and never been disappointed. I have been coming for years and appreciate such a nice place to bring clients and do business."

  • "Haven't been here for awhile, because frankly, I don't love the ambiance, however the food was excellent, & it made for a lovely evening. 3 of us had the special, lobster cioppino (fish stew), outstanding. I asked if they could take it up a notch, spice was, & it was sheer perfection. The bread, from Blue Oven was too fabulous if you know what I mean, & the wine selection, although small, was very good & not too crazy price wise. The 1 thing I did not like was the homemade bittersweet Choc chip ice cream, 3 small scoops-$8.., sorry, the ONLY miss."

  • "We have loved Brown Dog and frequented it for years. But the other evening's experience let us down. The service was extremely slow, and my food (I ordered lamb at the suggestion of the server) was overcooked, the vegetables sodden and generally tasteless. On the up side, the server did not charge us for my entree, and seemed sincerely apologetic. If this had been a one-off, I wouldn't bother writing; but we had a similar experience a couple of visits ago, and I wonder if maybe some tweaking of the service process or even the kitchen is in order. We enjoy having such a high quality restaurant so close by. This experience just fell way short."

  • "This cozy little gem in a small strip mall is a sweet surprise. The food is a very different selection than what most restaurants offer. Of four dishes our group tried, all were good; one was very impressive, that being the wild boar, an imaginative combination of flavors; very tender. The place is clean and cozy. The dinners are a little pricey, so you probably won't find yourself there every weekend."

  • "My wife and I went here from reviews I've seen online. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Food is overpriced and wasn't even good. I had their soup of the day and it tasted plain, like something Iwouls make. The meal I had was halibut. Again it was pretty plain. "

  • "My husband and I celebrated our 32nd wedding anniversary with dinner at Brown Dog Café. Previously, I had only been at the restaurant for lunch. The food was absolutely delicious. I had a piece of salmon stuffed with crabmeat which "was out of this world". My husband is still raving about the steak he had. We highly recommend Brown Dog for all occasions!"
