Diner Reviews
  • "A beautiful dining room and wonderful patio are the most appealing aspects of this restaurant. The food was good but not outstanding. My fish was overcooked on the ages and undercooked in the middle. Not good for an entree of $34.00. However, the dover sole was perfect. Our charcuterie was wonderful as was the recommended wine. Table side bananas foster was excellent. Overall, I would go back but perhaps choose a different menu item."

  • "Broussard's has always been a favorite of ours for many, many years. This evening was much different. In spite of good service, the food was terrible - hard to find the oysters for all the special, complicated sauces - on the snapper, could only identify a shrimp, the sauce was so heavy - the scallops were buried under potato galette that tasted like cardboard - the salad was swimming in dressing. The chef seems to have gone totally overboard with sauces and spices to the detriment of the food. Unless there are some changes, we do not see us returning. And, others must feel the same way as there were only 5 tables occupied the night we were there. So sad. The management needs to go back to some of the old Broussard recipes."

  • "This restaurant seemed different on the website but we were pleasantly surprised once we arrived. Thought we were getting away from the craze of Bourbon and ended up right next to it! Food and service was amazing, everyone was very personable."

  • "nice quiet restaurant close to Bourbon Street, and French Quarter Hotels. The food is very good, but pricey. The attention excellent. The bar is also very good. Quiet atmosphere which we enjoyed very much."

  • "The place is a wonderful example of old world refinement. The food was a disappointment beginning to end. The rillette was less flavorful than several pates I buy at the grocery store. The carpaccio was way salty and the oysters menage a tois was a hot mess-- three oyster shells filled with three different sauces and (it it to be presumed) oysters. My only indication of them was the grit in one and the bits of shell in the other two. The sorbet was oddly textured and crumbled when spooned, rather like packed snow. Almost everything missed the mark. I know I ate something else, but had forgotten what it was by the time I got back to my room. The most memorable thing about the meal was it's total lack of memorability."

  • "Exceptional service, beautiful surroundings, delicious food and all while being serenaded by live jazz musicians. Not to miss."

  • "What a gorgeous dining room. Around the corner from the noise of Bourbon Street and you'd never know it. The food is rich and nicely prepared. Our waitress was friendly. But she disappeared and a captain with airs did his best to try and ruin our evening. He intruded as much as possible, insisting on explaining the menu and asking for our order before we'd been asked about a cocktail. The waitress had told us their mixologist was one of the best. Then pacing was rushed the rest of the night. Except for when we were out if wine or we talked way too long over empty plates. Appetizers came before our drinks and the wine came immediately after. We poured our own wine. We left before dessert, tired of the uneven attention. Disappointing."

  • "Very disappointed! The waiters were not professional. They spoke about other tables in front of everyone. They rolled there eyes after speaking to customers. They had discussions in the dinning room."

  • "Went with my wife for a staycation dinner. We were looking forward to the new Broussards and all the changes we have heard. My wife had a red fish plate that was terrible. She could not eat it. It was burned on botton not grilled and not cooked on the top. I had a trout with crawfish, shrimp, crab, and oyster. It was a gumbo on a plate with tomatoe gravy and green something. Both were aweful. It's obvious the chef does not know New Orleans cooking or cajun fare. The manager took care of it and took the food away. He said it was a new menu and it felt as if it was something he had heard before. I hope they turn it around or the old landmark restaurant maybe in for a rude new awakening. Did not bother with desert already were disappointed."

  • "Everything was perfect except the food. The batter on the Gulf Shrimp tasted like someone had dumped the entire salt container into the batter; it was too salty to eat. However, the competence and friendliness of the staff rendered the visit to a pleasurable experience. The room was elegantly decorated, pristine table clothes and beautiful dining ware."

  • "Broussard's is our favorite place for brunch in New Orleans. Brunch is a three course meal all inclusive of your entree price. There are brunch classics such as Eggs Benedict, but also New Orleans classics. I got the Eggs Versailles (poached egg, salmon, brioche and of course hollandaise sauce) which was amazing! There are also a bottomless mimosas offered for $12 (got to love that). What a great way to spend your Sunday. The service is top notch, and don't forget about the Jazz Band they are a group of talented musicians - sure to know your favorite song. Come here for a special occasion, or any occasion it's just a wonderful time!"

  • "We came in for brunch. It was busy so they had a hard time seating us at our reservation time, but once we sat down I knew it was worth it. Amazing service, GREAT food, and bottomless mimosas--which they didn't rush you on at all. Overall my favorite stop in NOLA."

  • "I took my dad and grandfather this past Sunday for Father's Day and they both loved it. They loved the restaurant and the food. The bottomless mimosas were terrific and the wait staff kept them coming. For the price, the 3-course brunch with bottomless mimosas is where it's at. The food was very good, the service was excellent and the jazz trio playing music made my grandfather cry. He said this was the best Father's Day he's ever had."

  • "This was our first time dining here and we were not disappointed. The service and the food was amazing. Special thanks to Etienne who was our wonderful captain (server) for the day. He truly made our Father's Day brunch experience a great one. We will continue to dine here for brunch and looking forward to trying them for dinner also."

  • "Our first time to New Orleans and with so many restaurants to choose from, of the ones we visited this was the best."

  • "Although the ambience was excellent, the food was mostly unmemorable. The crab bisque was very good. But the oysters were off. And the fish entree was cool and didn't have much flavor. Nice place with nice personnel. But it wasn't very good."

  • "What a great deal! Appetizer and Dessert included in price of Brunch entree and $12 bottomless mimosas! Complete with jazz band. We loved it!"

  • "Broussard’s was frankly a disappointment. We had eaten there before in 2008 and it was a memorable experience so perhaps expectations were too high. The service was impeccable, so there was no issue there. However, the food was only mediocre. Several dishes were served tepid, betraying the fact that they must have sat for several minutes before being brought to the table (on the other hand maybe that is a hit on the service!). The flavor of the food was good, but not inspiring; there was no sense of, “Gee, I’d like to come back and have that again.” For a restaurant as well established as Broussard’s, they are going to have to step up their game to maintain their reputation in a city with New Orleans’ fame for fine dining."

  • "The only problem was the noise. There was a very loud crowd of women at a table near us. Also found the musicians too loud, especially the horn. "

  • "Food was good but the place is incredibly stuffy. The ambiance is terrible. Go here is you want expensive, decent food with mediocre service. Too many options in this town where you can get amazing food in an enjoyable environment to bother with this."

  • "The renovation of the restaurant is absolutely over the top. The attention to detail is above and beyond. Off to a good start until we received our first course selections. Scallop, carpaccio, duck/mushroom strudel and a foie gras. The server forgot to ring in the foie so that ended up a middle course after reminding him. The scallop had zero sear leaving it with zero mouth feel because there was no contrast of textures. The foie was "butchered" cooked in a cold pan so it achieved no color or flavor. Entrees came and the waiter ordered and pork chop instead of the tenderloin. The sea bass was not edible, caked with a tapenade. Entrees were worse than apps. Place is gorgeous. Go for bar and courtyard but not the food."

  • "This is one of my favorites in town for Sunday Jazz Brunch. Definitely try the bottomless mimosas for $15. There is a nice jazz band that plays until 2pm. The menu is a 3-course, prix fixe type menu and diverse enough to satisfy any palate with choices including seafood, lamb, beef and chicken."

  • "We had an absolutely fabulous meal. Service was professional and attentive. Wine list was very good. The restaurant is lovely and has old world charm. Quiet so you could actually converse. Was not rushed by wait staff. Excellent and look forward to going back. My husband said it was the first time he did not have to add salt or pepper to his dishes. The seasoning was perfect. The manager came over and we enjoyed visiting with him and learning about the history of the restaurant."

  • "To put it quite simply, this was some of the best food my wife and I have ever had. The service was impeccable, the live jazz trio was incredible, and the price was way below what one would expect to pay for such an experience. Simply amazing, do not miss an opportunity to go...we will definitely be returning many more times, if not make it a regular tradition."

  • "You can't really go wrong with anything on the brunch menu. It's delicious. It's a nice change of pace from the rest of the food in the French Quarter. Bottomless mimosas work like this: You have a small up of OJ and a champagne glass, you control the OJ, your waiter just pours the champagne. The jazz band moves from table to table both indoors and out on the patio to play for the table. "

  • "Our waiter, Giovanni, did his best to make recommendations and provide service, however, we felt rushed through our meal. For a $75 bottle of wine we expected to have some time to enjoy it. Our food tasted good and was what we expected from our orders. Salads were served before wine was poured; hardly finished last bite of salad when the entree was presented. It was loud and hard to have conversation. In general, if money is no object, it would be fine; but if getting the most for the $, it could be achieved elsewhere. "

  • "My wife and I selected Broussard's, based on a recommendation. I was not disappointed. The service was excellent and the food was equally good. The bananas foster is great!!"

  • "First time in New Orleans and absolutely not the last. What a refreshing break that Broussard's is from the lively action on Bourbon Street. The main dining room filled with festive group celebrations to romantic couples enjoying banana's foster prepared table side. Food selection is fresh and perfectly prepared. And what a treat to see fois gras on the menu since it has become illegal in CA! Wine list was limited by the glass but that comes from extravagant expectations living in Los Angeles. A jazz wedding party commenced on the outdoor patio with remnants of music drifting through the open doorways that only added to the lively atmosphere. A lot of options are available in NO; stop in for local punches at the bar if nothing else. "

  • "I had ordered my dinner not to be cooked in wine. The item was sole a very delicate fish. It came either cooked in wine or wine sauce. The flavor overwhelmed the dish. Good thing I am no longer allergic to it. My husband's fish also had a strong wine flavor but had tomato and onion to temper the flavor. The ambience was lovely, the courtyard was booked for a wedding so sitting out there was not an option. The service was good but the waiter did not get my message across to the chef. I understand from others that Sunday brunch in the Courtyard is very nice."

  • "The remodeled dining rooms were beautiful ! I wish I could say the same for the food , the food is just too salty !!! both my appetizer (corn and crab bisque as well as the trout entree ) additionally the side dishes were cold . We dined on a Wednesday evening and the place had only three other couples in the main dining room and a private party in the smaller dining room . Attentive staff but not obtrusive . Pricey for a city overflowing with great restaurants , unfortunately will not go back . "

  • "My sister and I brought our mom here for Mother's Day brunch and had a nice time. The service isn't bad, but it's not great either. Perhaps they were understaffed or over-booked, but our water glasses were never refilled and we had to wave down the waiter when we needed anything because we were rarely checked on. The food was not extraordinary, but it was good. The highlight of our experience was probably a combination of the bottomless mimosas and the jazz band. Overall we had a nice time, and the price is fairly modest when you consider that you're receiving a 3 course meal. "
