While the food was excellent, the service was just a bit slow. It took a while for the drinks to be delivered once they were ordered. We arrived around 5:30 and the place was still fairly empty, but once the drinks were finally delivered it was quite a while before our food order was taken. As a matter of fact, most of us were on our second drink.

This restaurant is perfect for special occasions. I had proposed to my fiance a few hours earlier they made sure everything was perfect. Our table was great, the staff was courteous, and the meal was wonderful. Andrew Murray Winery recommended that I make reservations here and I'm so glad that I took their advice. I simply gave them heads up with a note on the confirmation page and they took care of the rest.

This was a great restaurant in the Santa Ynez wine country. It felt casual but it was a fine dining experience. Like all the Brothers other restaurants, this one is very good. It had a great variety on the menu and they serve generous amounts of excellent food. The variety of bread they put on the table was wonderful! The only problem was that it was so good that I ate too much of it and was extremely full when we left.

We never have a bad meal at Brothers. Drove from the San Fernando Valley just to dine at their restaurant for our special birthday gift to each other. Friends from Palm Desert came up to join us for the occasion. I had the rack of lamb which was excellent and my husband had their ribeye steak. Friends had filets. All the meals were great. We like the fact that they will change the side dishes for ones we like instead of just the ones on the menu for the evening. Love the spring rolls and the mud pie for dessert. The Staff is very good, knowledgeable, and helpful. Checks back with us to see if we need anything and ask how our meal is..."Good, of course". We love what they did to convert the original Red Barn into Brothers.

The Brothers do great restaurants...and this reincarnation of the Red Barn is a true to form. The service is completely amazing and the food is yummy. The food story is very fresh, great ingredients prepared with a gourmet twist, but still recognizable. The portions are very generous, the bread collection is stellar and the martinis are delicious. I recommend a cucumber martini pared with tuna tartar with wontons for starters...the fish is always first rate....well, it's all terrific. It is clearly a locals place, and we are a picky pack!

We recently visited Santa Ynez and had the opportunity to dine at Brothers Restaurant Red Barn. I ordered the prime rib dinner and it was absolutely fabulous. In addition, they offer a half size salad which is just perfect to complete the meal. You won't want to miss the lemon pie - too delicious. Very reasonable prices too. Can't wait to go back on our next visit to town.

Red Barn is an exquisite little find (if a bit hard to find) with expertly prepared Prime Rib (on a par with Prime Rib in Washington DC) with far better service (Terri is a gem) and fine wine list. Not to be passed up.

Visited the Brothers to celebrate my husband's birthday. We were both looking forward to the rack of lamb. However, a private party +/- 20 had pre-ordered rack of lamb for the entire party! No lamb remaining for anybody else! You'd think the chef would have ordered differently knowing this. I chose the pork chop, my husband the salmon- both dishes were well- prepared. The beef-centric menu here is full of classic, well-prepared dishes. If you're craving steak and mashed potatoes, this is your place in SY. However, the menu is not as creative as I had hoped. Creativity seemed to be limited to adding bacon or caramelized onions to mashed potatoes. If you are looking for creativity, I'd suggest SY Kitchen down the street.

Had a reservation and there were many tables open, but stuck in a corner at table for 2. Food was good, but for the price it might have been lacking a bit. Many good restaurants in the area, not sure if this would be high on my list to revisit. The Brothers restaurant (Hardware Store) was a much nicer experience and I was hoping this one would be even better.

What a great place to go with friends! We not only had a great meal (the food & wine were fabulous), but were not rushed. We were able to visit and talk, without being pushed to order. The staff was so pleasant, accommodating and very unobtrusive. The menu is so varied that everyone can find something they love. This is one of our favorite restaurants and definitely worth a try.

My girlfriends and I were up in the area to wine taste and booked dinner here on a recommendation. So glad we did! The food and service were outstanding. I can't wait to go back and try something else on the menu. My filet was truly the best I have ever had. The port/Blue cheese sauce was to die for. We had the Caramel Brioche Bread Pudding for dessert - Awesome also. I was impressed by the way the staff worked together. We were very well taken care of by not only our waitress but by many different staff members - all making sure our needs were taken care of and our food was delivered promptly. If you are in the Santa Ynez area - check this place out. You won't regret it.

Was told by a local that ranchers eat there and its a causal restaurant. We made reservations for 3, two adults and a five year old. There was no printed kids menu. The wait people seemed tense. The cooks face the patrons from the kitchen. You are being watched the entire time. It was an uncomfortable environment. The highlight of our experience was the floor manager he fixed my order and bought us a desert. Our bill was $160 and we drank water. Dinner salad is extra. Too Hollywood for me. The steaks were very good though.

Returned for second lunch during our weekend visit, did not disappoint! Tried the fish and chips which we saw flying out of the kitchen on our first visit, and also the bacon avocado burger----both were delicious and the server was more than happy to substitute salad for fries on the burger. We also tried a cup of the locally farmed/produced sweet corn soup, really good though wished it had a bit more whole corn kernels. Overall this is an outstanding lunch option in Santa Ynez and we will be back next time!

Arrived in town for the weekend earlier than expected, decided to go directly to lunch before hotel check-in. We started with cup of French onion soup and half size spinach salad---both were really superb. Then shared the pulled pork sandwich with fries, incredibly perfect with house made BBQ sauce that had a slight kick to it. Our server was more than happy to offer up the half order on the salad, which was not mentioned on the menu, and also no charge on the split for the sandwich --- nice. We enjoyed it so much we went back the next day to try more menu items!

I'll go anywhere the brothers are. Their food is so outstanding. Prime rib is better than you can get anywhere and if you are a lamb lover you have never tasted better. All their food is delicious. I don't like overhead lights casting down and creating shadows on the table. Kind of stark. I'm more the cozy type and appreciate fresh flowers on the table, but really enjoy the outdoors. I would go back and sit outside but not inside.

Everything at the Brothers Restaurant at Red Barn was amazing - impeccable service timed perfectly, a great wine list with local Central Coast favorites, and FRESH, delicious fare - carrots and snap peas picked from the garden fresh - and grilled meats cooked to perfection - the filet was juicy and perfectly seasoned, as was my husband's lamb dish and my friend's selection of the goat cheese stuffed chicken breast... Oh and can someone say "meyer lemon cheesecake"? Yes please! Will definitely be back!

We ordered the Tuna Tartare for starters. It reminded us of poke, which we love! It had a spicy ginger sauce and served with wonton chips. Delicious. My wife ordered the filet mignon and I had the ribeye, both cooked perfectly medium rare and bursting with flavor. We ordered their merlot/cab/shiraz blend and it went very well with the steaks. For dessert we tried their homemade sorbet (raspberry, dark chocolate, and coconut). It was served with a dark chocolate olive oil cookie. Despite the dessert being dairy and gluten free, the sorbet was genuinely creamy and the cookie soft and chewy.
