Brooklyn Girl EateryWorth a lookgood restaurant. We went for brunch early so it wasn't too busy yet. I hear it gets busy at night so reservations are a must. Food was great. Only knock was they food was warm, not hot. We will go back though.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMA little loudAltho' the noise level was a little higher than is comfortable for us, we were able to communicate comfortably with our table-mates is not our server. The quality of the food, service and wine list more than made up for the noise level. Best halibut EVER!5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding place. We areOutstanding place. We are visiting San Diego from Portland where we have our share of great restaurants and BG would rival the very best Portland has to offer. We liked it so much we took some friends back the next night. It was a good excuse to try something totally different on the menu to see if BG was consistently great -- it was. We love the fig and duck salad, the calamari salad, the entrees of halibut (it was a special), lamb loin, duck, and the shrimp and polenta appetizer. The chocolate chip bread pudding was so good we ate it two nights in a row.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMJust Plain Good!Just went to try out the new Oyster Bar menu. Though the major opening of the Oyster Bar will not occur until May 7, they did have several of the new menu available. The couple that went with us had new menu items and they loved it. I had my favorite - the Duck & Date and, as usual, it was cooked and made to perfection. Despite being a very busy night - service was top notch and the wine list super. This is truly a neighborhood gem and yet well worth a trip to try it out...........5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMKeeperThis was our first visit to Brooklyn Girl and we were pleasantly surprised. We ordered the pork chop and the halibut. They were both delicious and perfectly prepared. The ambiance, food, service (Jessica was awesome) were spot on. Couldn't be happier to find this wonderful restaurant!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is the third time thatThis is the third time that my husband and I have eaten at Brooklyn Girl. The food is always excellent, however the bar staff needs to take it up a notch. We were meeting another couple and arrived early on Saturday evening so we could enjoy a cocktail before dinner. We sat in the bar area for almost 10 minutes and were never approached so when a couple of places opened up at the bar we nabbed them thinking that we would get better service. Again, both bartenders seemed oblivious to our presence - after they walked past us several times I finally called out and asked if we could order a drink. The bartender was very pleasant but the attitude was that he was in no big hurry and the place was packed with several other people waiting??4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMAre you going to finish that?Once again it was fabulous. I introduced a friend who had been wanting to try BG. Our waitress did a wonderful job recommending the halibut and Barollo. As did the table next to us. Then we shared our coconut cake with the table on the other side of us. One thing I love about your restaurant is the fun friendly feel and the fact that the people sitting next to you have no problem engaging in conversation, making recommendations or eating your leftovers. :-)4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMA nice one to tryBe sure to make a reservation well ahead as this place is jammed. Service was just right, food was excellent. Had the pear salad and 1/2 chicken...both were great. At just about 6 pm the place filled and it got very noisy. Other than that, highly recommend.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMI loved, loved, loved theI loved, loved, loved the "Pan Seared Wild Salmon"! With a nice glass of white wine it was just the perfect meal. Great place, great service and people in all kinds of age groups. Will come back soon.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMSlowly growing on meAt first I didn't like this place, with its all-too-common, corporate-feeling, "modernized old-place" decor (think: upscale Red Robin!), and prices just above what I like paying. But this was maybe the fourth time I've been there and it's growing on me. The halibut really was good, and the server knew his stuff.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMFinally tried the crab & avocadoFinally tried the crab & avocado salad...DELISH! I would also very high recommend the brussel sprouts...yum!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was very good. IThe food was very good. I had the lamb shank. The only drawback was that it did not come with a vege. For that price I think it should or at least have a semi-basic salad on the menu at a decent price.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat first visit.Really enjoyed our first visit here. They were able to seat us right away (7:45 on a Saturday night). Service was good although our waiter did disappear for some time, when we asked the bus boy to find him, he came over right away. Shared cheese board and salad and another appetizer. Food was unique and very good. Portion size on cheese board and meatball plate could have been a little bigger. Salad was just right. Nice wine list, fabulous original cocktail list.
Overall, a very enjoyable evening. Will definitely return.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMHoppin'Lots of activity, interesting menu (good food), good service3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMReally enjoyed the musselsReally enjoyed the mussels and kale salad! Will come back for brunch3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMOpen kitchen Good food open feelingInteresting menu. Good food. Popular place with the locals. About a year since it opened and it has been successful from the start.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMTop notch neiborhood spot.Top notch neiborhood spot. Interesting and varied menu and excellent drinks. Exposed duct work and brick make for a noisy evening when groups are in the house. Worth the trip if it isn't in your neighborhood.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMLights out? No worries! This was my third visit to BG & I continue to be impressed. Our server was excellent & offered suggestions & reviews of menu items. As usual the drinks did not disappoint; the mixologists are amazing! One of us had the brick chicken & the other had the yellowtail special; we were both very pleased. Just as we finished our meal, the power went out in the entire neighborhood. The staff didn't miss a beat, setting out more candles & making the best of an unfortunate situation. Kudos to all at Brooklyn Girl.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat cocktails, love theGreat cocktails, love the popcorn instead of bread to start and the food was great. Decor was really cool, very loud but great vibe3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a great experience. ItWhat a great experience. It is a place where people of any age feel good. It has a very different vibe. It's the hip neighborhood spot that can be called a "find".3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome meal and great service!Awesome meal and great service! Our main entree's (Duck and Lamb) were superb! The oyster sliders to start were amazing. Cornbread was a bit lacking (but that is only b/c the Cornbread at Tractor Room is probably the best in San Diego and would be hard to top).
We were there for an early dinner (5:30) and within 30 mins the place was packed. Will definately eat there again, but will be sure to make RSVP's given it's popularity....3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMLove this place. Very consistentLove this place. Very consistent - I've been back many times and haven't been disappointed!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall great experience.Overall great experience. Loved the feel of the restaurant and decor. There are unique touches throughout. The food and drinks were delicious.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMThis restaurant never failsThis restaurant never fails to be anything less than great! Tried the Poblano Chili appetizer this time and it was delicious, love the fiery punch!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMBourbon BirthdayI treated a friend to a birthday dinner at Brooklyn Girl, the first time for both of us. The design and styling details captivated me from the moment I walked in the door. The three people clustered around the host stand weren't particularly welcoming and I had to make the introduction, but that was the only "fail" of the evening. For the next two and a half hours, my friend and I had the best meal and conversation punctuated by just the right amount of attentiveness by our server, Jessica, who knew the menu well and gave great recommendations. If you are enjoying the renaissance of bourbon as much as I am, try the Kentucky Blue, as well as the chocolate bourbon bread pudding dessert special if offered.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved the art, the serviceLoved the art, the service was fantastic and the food was delicious. We brought friends from New York that loved it!3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food and service butGood food and service but very, very noisy. Not good for quiet conversations3/3/2013 12:00:00 AM
