Diner Reviews
  • "Broken Plate is one of our favorite restaurants to go with our family. We had a wonderful meal and great service."

  • "My family and I enjoyed another fantastic dinner at The Broken Plate. The food and service were excellent."

  • "We came to Broken Plate solely because our kids wanted to break a plate for their birthday. All 3 of our kids disliked the food, and didn't eat. There are no kid-friendly options on the menu. The service was horribly slow. Our kids were starving from waiting so long, we had to ask to have bread brought to the table for them. They didn't even enjoy breaking the plate, as it has shrunk to a tiny tea saucer, and the staff didn't attempt to make it fun and exciting at all. We were so disappointed in the whole experience, and it was not worth the expensive price."

  • "The restaurant has so much potential but just doesn't have any WOW factor. Food is good but not great, in fact a little bland. Would definitely benefit from more robust flavoring such as more spices. Deserts were outstanding, all being made in the restaurant and full of flavor with nice presentation. Recommend the Baclava and the Baclava cheesecake."

  • "Booked on open table, so easy and convenient. Make sure to put in notes type of table you want.. we were stuck in back by bathrooms, in corner. My guests were not pleased with this. When we spoke up even though restaurant had not filled yet (practically empty) nothing was done to accommodate us. Our server was great, made recommendations when asked and was attentive. Food was super scrumptious!"

  • "We had the beef tenderloin and the lamb dish.... Which was simply divine. Calamari was delicious as well. Our waiter was from Lethbridge, very friendly and provided excellent service!"

  • "My wife and I really enjoy going here from time to time. We tend to eat out a lot and this Is just a little different and the food is very good. Not that big of a restaurant and sometimes can be very busy but they have always managed to get us in. The owner comes around and chats (when he is there) and is very friendly."

  • "The food and service was good. However, there are two things I wish they would consider. One is more vegetables. My meal on our most recent visit I had lovely lemon fingerling potatoes, good quantity; my vegetables consisted of one stalk of rather thick Asparagus, 3 slices of courgettes/zucchini and about half a carrot cut in half, they tasted delicious, I just wish there was more of them! Secondly, I would like to see some changes in the menu once in a while especially the desserts- keep the homemade Baklava as that is yummy! :) I found the Ladies toilet freezing cold after being in the restaurant. Quite a temperature difference.. Seats were comfortable. Nice to have linen serviettes."

  • "Myself and my family dine here quite often, i'd say 3-5 times a month. We come here because the service and food is generally really good. Unfortunately this wasn't the case in our last visit. Service was good as always, but the lamb we ordered came out cold? We didn't complain or make a scene as we were celebrating a birthday and we all wanted to eat together at the same time. It was disapointing as we were very much looking forward to our meals (like I said we come here often). Hopefully this doesn't happen to us again in the future."

  • "We have been going to the Broken Plate Restaurant in Willowpark for years and they have yet to ever disappoint us. They consistently have provided a great meal at a fair price with good service. We try different items on the menu and like everything we have tried."

  • "I am happy to write this review. I was so pleased that my request for a "nice table" was accomodated. I also mentioned that it was my friend's birthday and I wanted to make it extra special - that I wanted her to be able to break a plate "OPA" and our server did just that - he was attentive, looked after the details; the food was super, and my friend was given the plate, and in our shared dessert he placed a sparkler. It was a perfect evening for the 3 of us celebrating a special birthday for our treasured friend. THANK YOU."

  • "Zues chicken was slightly dry. mussels and saganiki were delicious. Pasta had a heavy cream sauce, it was great."

  • "We chose this restaurant for a special occasion due to a previous great experience 6 weeks earlier. The reservations seem to be well timed, the evening crowd gradally thinned out leaving us feel we were welcome to stay as long as we wished. The environment is very relaxing yet alive. The service we received was very good, the waiter attentive, and all commented on the excellence of the food. Yes, the liche soup was to die for. We won't hesitate to recommend to friends."

  • "My son choose this restaurant to celebrate his 20th birthday. Our group consisted of 5 people. We all were very satisfied over the taste and portion size of the entrée. From appetizers to dessert everything tasted great. We quite enjoyed the breaking of the plate and the added birthday message written on the dessert. Thank you to our wonderful server who had a great sense of humor. We will be coming back."

  • "I ordered "Alexander lamb sword" and was disappointed with the meat : it was not done medium as I've asked more to rare and was chewy .... My hasbund had The "Lobster ravioli was indeed delicious ! For a big company it is a bit tight there but for dinner for two is just right, max four people. And I love the custom of breaking plate ! Something unique and different from any other restaurant !"

  • "Been here twice and loved it both times. Food was very good. Prior to coming here, I had never really had Greek food before. I'd def come back."

  • ""My wife and myself both had lamb dishes for our lunch (lamb chops and lamb shank). The quality of food and service were satisfactory, but we were surprised how little meat there was on our plates. We understand that lunch plates are smaller, but the price gave us the impression that it would be more like a dinner plate. The food was good, but disappointed at the price charged.""

  • "Went with my spouse for v-day diner. Had great atmosphere and the food was great. It was a set menu so the options were limited for hubby who's very selective with his food but he still enjoyed his meal."

  • "Normally we love this restaurant and would highly recommend it. The Valentine's Dinner experience was completely different. The staff were overwhelmed so our service was anything but attentive. I enjoyed the amuse bouche and the greek salad appetizer. the Artic Char main was horrible. I ate very little of it and the server didn't ask me about it when he took the plate away. the Chocolate Souffe dessert was more like a 5-day old chocolate muffin. inedible. We will go back but never on a prix fixe menu night."

  • "The food was amazing the mood was great well planned. Well laid out and food came out in a fast but relaxed manner. The staff was awesome friendly and so accommodating. Made for a wonderful valentines dinner for me and the spouse. I am going back again for the lamb! Hats off to the Broken Plate! Opa!"

  • "Went with some friends who had never been before. The food was excellent as was the service. The only complaint I have is the noise level and the fact we were seated right next to where the plates are broken to honor birthdays."
    Dined on 2/12/2014
  • "Family of four (all adults) had a great dinner, generous portions, very flavorful lamb - both lamb chops and lamb shank, best we ever had. Desert - baklava, baklava cheese cake and creme brulee were also excellent! Thanks!"

  • "An excellent choise for lunch with friends. A very central location, lots of parking. The service was friendly and excellent. The food was very good, we had the beet salad and souvlaki on the side, the lamb pita was also escellent."

  • "Service was amazing!! It started right when you walked in the door, right through till we finished. Food was all very tasty and good. We will be coming back for sure!"

  • "The man at the door was wonderful, the lady that brought some of the food to the table was great. the Waitress that served us was a bit 'snippy". We were not very happy with her attitude.. if you need more information let me know. Sandra"

  • "This is a great little place to go for your Greek fill. I love the Lobster Ravioli."
    Dined on 1/25/2014
  • "It is really nice to have a restaurant with gluten free options. Some will advertise it as such, but when you get to the restaurant the selection is very minimal. The wait service was not bad, but was on the slow side, the first sign of it was when we were seated it took over 10min to receive drinks."
    Dined on 1/18/2014
  • "The food at broken plate never disappoints. I normally stick to the same 3-4 items and I've always been more than satisfied with my choices. The portions are filling and worth every penny. The feta bruschetta is a must try and if you finish all your bread and still have topping left over they will bring you more bread for no additional charge (thumbs up). The zeus stuffed chicken is to die for, it comes with lemon potatoes (amazing), a variety of vegetables and the chicken is layed on top of a cream sauce (delicious) and the stuffing is oozing out of the meat. Next we had the Baklava cheesecake which there are no words to describe, hands down the best tasting cheesecake I've tried. Fantastic restaurant!!"

  • "I like this place for lunch, I've been back a few times. The service is professional and the lunch menu has sufficient range, though not exhaustive it is complimented by specials which are usually interesting and add to the mix. I was in a party of 4, we all agreed we would be going back."

  • "Everything from the "Flaming Cheese" to the main dish was very good!! Have forgotten that this restaurant was so close!! We'll be stopping in more often....."

  • "Our dinner at the Broken Plate was just awesome. The food was excellent, the service timely and after dinner, we spent another 2 hours talking at the table without being bothered by staff except to offer us more coffee, very nice."

  • "Consistent and top quality food and service. Great mainstream food with a Greek slant. Love to break the plate at the end."

  • "We heard this was a good spot, and we were not disappointed! Everything we ordered was delicious, and the service was great. We can't wait to go back!"
    Dined on 1/3/2014
  • "When ordering the 5 layer chocolate cake, be aware that each serving has 2 massive slices of cake! More than enough for 2 people to share. It would have been helpful to know this as we both ordered it and had a piece left over each - having it leftover the next day was not a problem though :)"
    Dined on 1/3/2014
  • "The 3 of us enjoyed our meal a lot. The bruschetta was excellent with very light bread and plentiful serving for 3. The salmon and the chicken were very good. The server was very attentive and remembered us from previous visits making the dining experience more enjoyable. We also enjoyed the performance by the dancer who was very friendly!"
