"Location is the drawback, low ceilings, dingy colors, is a basement and feels like one. Very few people in restaurant, so it feels empty and cold. The food was fine, not unusual or outstanding, but ok. We won't go back."

"The food is robustly flavored and seasoned, if not over-seasoned. I have learned to ask if there is a prepoderance of certain spices we may not like. In general, we have enjoyed the preparations and left satisfied and pleased. The bread, salads and main dishes are tasty, accompanied by good wine selections and coffee, all reasonably priced.
The downstairs location is a drawback but the space is pleasant, bright and tastefully decorated."

"The desserts were outstanding!.....the portions, especially the cream puffs, were a bit small but in every other way - excellent. My polenta with roasted veggies was excellent - veggies still had a bit of a bite with vibrant color. (If you use local produce/meat/breads/meats etc., please give the farmers et al credit in the dish description...they work so hard!) Flavor and texture of the "table" bread had a "straight from the oven" quality and taste. Very good!"

"We visited for lunch and dinner. Both times all the food was very flavorful, with a special knack for properly cooked vegetables that were locally fresh. Limited but choice selections, including vegetarian options. Creative and inviting presentations.
Not only was the food great, so were the servers, one of whom rescued my wallet that I accidentally dropped on the floor but didn't discover was missing until the next morning!"

"My husband took me out to a belated Valentines Day dinner at Broken Bread. Turned out our babysitter couldn't make it too! So our romantic dinner ended up being a plus one. The staff at Broken Bread made our not-so-romantic dinner still seem special! The wine was wonderful, recommended by Chris, our knowledgeable and very helpful waiter. The food is unique and delicious. I have loved everything I've ever had there and the menu is constantly changing so I know that it's fresh and I'm in for a treat each time. The cook even went out of his way to accomodate our four year old. He made chocolate milk and a grilled cheese sandwich for our son. It is hard for me to go out to eat anywhere else. I love knowing I'm supporting local business"

"We have a long history of going to restaurants at this location and really wanted to like Broken Bread. It was good but it wasn't great. Portions are small. We went on a busy night and service was polite but slow. My water glass was not refilled. Maybe I misunderstood but I thought part of the attraction of the restaurant was a commitment to local and sustainable. I didn't see any mention of that commitment during our experience."

"This is a talented chef who does a very nice job of utilizing local fare and pulling out the flavors. He has a very creative menu that changes frequently depending on what is available from the market. Everything was cooked to perfection. Staff does a very nice job of making you feel welcome and are attentive enough to make you feel taken care of without making you feel smothered. Roses for the women on Valentine's Day was an especially nice touch. The ambiance is pleasant and welcoming. Every experience here has been unique and extremely enjoyable. The owner always takes the time to greet us and make us feel welcome."
